As the final trecena of the current 260-day T’zolkin cycle comes into place it is revealing an extraordinarily interesting intersection of energies and forces the likes of which seem to be screaming Pay Very Close Attention during this period because it is building towards a grand finale that appears to be signalling great, great change.

While the world is expecting change, the timing for these changes, from the perspective of the Maya Calendar, is particularly intriguing because this calendar so clearly maps out the forces involved – and this IS the trecena that signifies the end of one cycle as it heralds the nature of what lies ahead.

The world has seen it coming, of course, in so many ways. But in a Guardian article titled “The weaker he gets the more dangerous he gets’, Washington correspondent David Smith bluntly states: “Federal courts are reining him in. Congressional Republicans are straying from the script. Poll numbers are tumbling to historic depths, driven by persistent inflation, rising fuel costs and an increasingly unpopular war in Iran. For the first time since his improbable political resurrection, Trump’s aura of authority is fading.” In the article, Rick Wilson, a longtime Republican strategist, prophesied: “This is the beginning of the end. This is the decline.”

And as this decline unfolds, there is every indication that this particular period will shed light on the nature of the decline, in startling ways, as the forces of resistance gather strength and momentum leading toward the fast approaching midterm elections in the US. During this period Brazil will also hold its general election, which looks like it will be a nail-biter. Note that significant changes on the world stage have taken place in the past in the latter days of this period, just before the conclusion. One cycle ago the massive Free America Walkout day of action and protest took place across all 50 states in the US just two days before this trecena ended.

Historically, this Lamat trecena was seen by ancient Mesoamerican cultures as ritualistically significant, with the first day, One Rabbit (the Aztec variant of the first day of this period), thought to have been the date in the distant mythic past when the cosmos was created by the gods. Its importance is reflected by the inclusion of a One Rabbit glyph on a number of monuments and markers, such as the back of the Aztec Coronation Stone. One Lamat, associated with Venus, was seen as the great celestial “signaller”, an energy that often heralds the need for alertness – as things are in the process of change.

This energy (known as One Lamat, aka “Star”, to the Maya) was also associated with New Fire ceremonies. Aztec priests conducting New Fire ceremonies (every 52 years) would climb the Cerro de la Estrella (Star Mountain) to conduct New Fire ceremonies in conjunction with the rise of the Pleiades. And although such ceremonies are no longer conducted, it is intriguing to see how so many events associated with renewal have just “naturally” coincided with this energy, at the beginning of this final trecena within the 260-day Tzolk’in cycle. To boot, the Pleiades star cluster will be visibly rising in the night sky in the East as this trecena gets underway.

From the Mesoamerican perspective, one of the major patrons of this trecena was known to the Aztec as Xipe Tótec, the ancient Lord of Renewal and Liberation. The other was Xiuhtecuhtli, the Lord of Fire and Time – a deity connected with time-related change, as in cycle endings. Both of these entities are oriented around the idea of setting the stage for new beginnings. Sudden and dramatic change is not unusual during this period, particularly with regard to conflicts, and with regard to individuals in leadership positions.

For instance, Pope Francis was inaugurated on One Lamat in 2013, and his funeral took place two cycles ago, the day after One Lamat. Moreover, his One Lamat inauguration in 2013 was 88 days after Dec. 21, 2012, that highly significant “great cycle” completion date in the Maya Calendar Long Count. And Pope Francis was 88 years old at the time of his departure. Two cycles ago the conclave in the Sistine Chapel was underway to elect the new pope, and Pope Leo was elected the following day, at the beginning of the new cycle.

In January of 2021, Joe Biden’s inauguration as the 46th President of the U.S. took place on the fifth day of this period, bringing an end to four years of “spiritual decay and moral decrepitude” fomented by his predecessor (as former Harvard professor Cornel West put it). Who could possibly have guessed that the whole thing would flip back again, with a vengence, four years later? Keep in mind that even back in 2017 this trecena was bringing forth massive protest demonstrations in dozens of US cities, in huge calls for the dumpster’s impeachment, with marchers’ signs signalling sentiments such as “Illegitimate, Corrupt Puppet”, and “Worst President Ever” – and that was 9 years ago!!

In the deeper past this is the trecena that was in place in 1918 when Russia’s Czar Nicholas and his family were executed by Bolshevik troops, at the beginning of this time period, after being removed from Imperial power and held in captivity for several months. Thirty-five years later this energy brought forth the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, on the first day of the same trecena that saw the coronation of Queen Elizabeth I in 1559. Seven years after Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation that same One Lamat energy saw John F. Kennedy give his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention (1960) after winning the Democratic nomination for president.

In terms of this trecena as a whole, this is a time period that has precipitated a number of important “world shifting” events in the past, including the discovery of gold in California in 1848; the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, followed by the unconditional surrender of Japan at the end of World War II; the passage of the Civil Rights Act in the U.S. in 1957; the completion of the deconstruction of the Berlin Wall in 1990; the storming of Baghdad by U.S. forces in 2003; and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2014.

Very significantly this is the trecena that brought that huge “moment of transformation” in Egypt in 2011 when massive citizen protests forced President Mubarak to step down, proving that with enough “people power”, tyrants CAN and WILL be defeated. Indeed, as António Guterres, the outgoing secretary general of the United Nations, said just a few days ago, what is required now is “a recognition, especially by superpowers, that their power isn’t so super. Their power has limits. The events of recent years have made that unmistakably clear. Military power alone cannot secure peace. Economic power alone cannot command stability. And technological power alone cannot guarantee security.” What is required now is PEOPLE power. As former CIA Director John Brennan recently put it: “As long as he [referring to the demented orange toddler] is in the White House, we are all stuck in a grotesque cartoon.”

Back in April of 2025, just over two cycles ago (April 15), Harvard law professor Lawrence Tribe succinctly summed up the situation at that time, in conversation with Lawrence O’Donnell, when he said “We are at a profound crossroad in the history of the US. It’s up to all of us not to give in to the tyrant.” And it became clear shortly after that comment, that law firms were getting this message, as an association of more than 700 partners at major U.S. law firms banded together to push back and challenge orders lobbied against them. Just a few days before this current trecena began, major media companies in the US banded together in a united front to push back against the White House’s recent media ban pertaining to CNN, MSNow, and Politico, as they refused to cover major stories such as President Xi’s visit to the White House, so the state dinner for Xi was not televised. According to CNN this frustrated both US and Chinese officials since the initial intention had been to “showcase” the two leaders for a global audience, but ultimately it was more of a “self-inflicted wound”, which is pretty well par-for-the course for the dumpster. After this “regrettable” fiasco (according to the Chinese foreign ministry), the White House then reluctantly returned the previously banned media passes.

Six cycles ago this Lamat trecena not only brought forth the “bombshell” overturning of “Roe vs. Wade” by the US Supreme Court, which traumatized millions, but also brought forth some of the most “eye-opening” testimonies in the Jan. 6th Committee’s public hearings, which vividly provided insight into the inner workings of the insurrection scheme.

Going into the fall season of 2026, with the Iran war dragging into its seventh month, with no resolution in sight, with the dumpster still threatening war crimes (as he did during his brutish speech at the UN), with the dreadful wars in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Africa still unresolved, and with human rights and international relations still in shambles, this trecena has a great deal to contend with, including the great unknown relating to the question of AI. But as we come to the end of this current cycle, powerfully transformative energies are in play that will signal what lies ahead, setting the stage for new directions and new beginnings that will come more fully into force during the cycle that is to follow.

This is also a particularly good time to set the stage for personal new beginnings, an excellent time to work with this trecena’s energies to “signal” your intentions as you work towards making whatever adjustments might be needed to address shifting new realities. This is a great time to work with those “deities of renewal” who oversee this trecena – the Lord of Renewal and Liberation and the Lord of Fire and Time – who will be helping to set the foundations for the forthcoming changes.

Note that during this particular period, with so many world-shifting forces in play, the numerical powers associated with this time frame will be doubled, as the numbers associated with the daysigns are mirrored by the numbers related to the month. This does not happen very often, but it tends to add to the intensity of the numerical forces. We are now working with the energies of the Maya month known as Yax, which is associated with the idea of “new” or “first”, with the first day being 1 Lamat 1 Yax, the second day being 2 Muluk 2 Yax, and so on, building up to a “double 13” on the final day.

Translating as “Green” as well, Yax is also associated with cosmic renewal, as in the endless abundance of the Tree of Life. In addition, the planet Venus is associated both with the Lamat daysign and the month of Yax, so at this time there is a very rare intertwining of energies associated with leadership and the heralding of change, along with that “doubling” of the numerical forces, in combination with a kind of intertwining of forces connected with eternal renewal. The planet Venus itself is shining brightly, low on the Western horizon in the Northern hemisphere. There is even a Tun Shift in the Maya Long Count calendar on the last day of this period. In addition, the 9 day-Night Lord sequence that continuously cycles through the Calendar is lined up to make its final appearance for this cycle during the final nine days of this period, beginning on 5 Eb’.

In terms of Western astrology,Venus is turning retrograde at the midpoint of this trecena, right before Saturn reaches the midpoint of its cycle, in opposition to the sun. So overall this is suggesting that this trecena will provide a particularly important opportunity for people on Planet Earth to pay attention and truly take stock of their lives – to review their lives and reimagine new possibilities – an excellent time to commit to contributing to the changes that need to be made on multiple levels during this critical period in the history of the world. Here are the energies that are coming into play:

1 Lamat 1 Yax (Sept. 27th) – the “initiation of leadership”, a heralding type of energy that can point towards change or new directions, now coinciding with the autumn event for International Astronomy Day, on the third day of the Judeo/Christian Feast of the Tabernacles, aka Sukkot, an eight-day Jewish holiday that began on Sept. 25th

This is World Rivers day, a global celebration of the world’s waterways, with emphasis on the importance of keeping the waterways clean, particularly since it has been found that some of the world’s best-known rivers (including the Thames and the Danube) have been contaminated with dangerously high levels of antibiotics. This year’s theme is: “Everyone can be a river steward”.

This is also the day of the grand Shinkosai procession in Japan, held once every four years, where the shrine’s main portable shrine (miyamikoshi) will be carried and paraded through the local area.

Two cycles ago this energy was in place on the final day of Pope Francis’s lying in state at the Vatican, as preparations were underway for his funeral the following day. Back in 2013, this energy had been in place at the time of his inauguration as Pope Francis I.

Currently this the Catholic Church’s World Day of Migrants and Refugees, which will focus this year on minors on the move, recalling the duty to welcome each one of them. “Even just one of these children” is the theme that Pope Leo XIV chose for this 112th edition of the day. This is the third day of Pope Leo’s 4-day visit to France, the day when he will be conducting mass in the Pyrenean sanctuary of Lourdes. Some 150,000 people have signed up to attend this mass. The following day he will be meeting with a group of migrants in Paris.

In the distant past this was the energy (known to the Mexica as One Rabbit) that often coincided with New Fire ceremonies, associated with renewal. But even in contemporary times many important events associated with regeneration have taken place on One Lamat, as seen in 2018 when US House Democrats voted overwhelmingly to nominate Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House.

Indeed, this energy has often been an important marker point in terms of leadership in world history. George Washington was selected to become the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army under this influence in 1775, and Queen Elizabeth II’s elaborate coronation took place under this influence in 1953 – echoing the fact that the Aztec version of this energy (known as One Rabbit) was carved into the Aztec Coronation Stone, as noted above.

In 1960 this was in place at the time of John F. Kennedy’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention after winning the Democratic nomination for president. Back in the year 1800 it was a One Lamat day when then-General Napoleon began leading his army across the Alps in his Second Italian campaign.

It has now been 11 cycles since the November day in 2018 when the Miami Herald published a detailed aricle titled “How a future Trump Cabinet member gave a serial sex abuser the deal of a lifetime”. In the article, Julie K. Brown described how an extraordinary plea agreement was made that would conceal the full extent of Epstein’s crimes and the number of people involved. He was facing a 53-page federal indictment that could have sent him to prison for the rest of his life, but the terms of the deal were such that Epstein was to serve just 13 months in the county jail. The deal, overseen by Alex Acosta, Trump’s 1.0 secretary of labor, who was in charge of an agency that provided oversight of US labor laws, including human trafficking, also shut down an ongoing FBI probe into whether there were more victims and other powerful people involved in those crimes.

Among other things, Acosta had allowed Epstein’s lawyers unusual freedoms in dictating the terms of the non-prosecution agreement, an agreement that scuttled the federal probe into a possible international sex trafficking operation. The last time this energy was in place (last January), just 22 days after Congress ordered the DoJ to release the files, it was discovered that less than 1% of the files had been released. Over 2 million files are still being retained by that department. With over 80% of Americans wanting the files to be released, to get to the bottom of this complex and sordid situation, there is much speculation as to what is being so fervently hidden. Many questions remain pertaining to the nature of the extensive cover-up, including why he was found dead in his jail cell one cycle after that “deal of a lifetime” was made, followed by the dismissal of charges against him.

Six cycles ago (in 2022) this One Lamat energy was in place at the time of the dissolution of Israel’s coalition government, when a new election was called, setting the stage for the return to power of former prime minister Netanyahu several months later. As the world is aware, since then this “Crime Minister” of Israel has been responsible for horrific war crimes and crimes again humanity, relating to Gaza and other parts of Palestine, and the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for him. Nevertheless, he was allowed into the US to give an address at the UN. As he walked to the podium for his speech, a large portion of the delegates from the 193 member nations of the UN left the Assembly Hall in protest. Shamefully, the US had denied entry to the Palestinian delegates (including President Mahmoud Abbas).

Note that hurricanes and tornadoes are often associated with Lamat, and currently there are two strong hurricanes in the Pacific, as both Hawaii and Mexico prepare for the impacts. A nor’easter is also pummeling the northeast, which is already triggering flooding and large scale power outages.

2 Muluk 2 Yax (Sept. 28th) – the “dynamic shape-shifting” energy of water, coinciding with World News Day, the UN’s International Day for Universal Access to Information, which aims “to raise public awareness of the critical role that newsrooms and journalists play in helping people make sense of — and improve — the rapidly changing world around them”. This is a “global awareness campaign to amplify the value of fact-based journalism” – a campaign that has been recently super-fueled by the shameful situation created just days ago by the dumpster’s illegal refusal to allow journalists from CNN, MSNow, and Politico into the White House. Although a federal judge quickly upheld the rights of the journalists, the situation did place a strong spotlight on the importance of the free press.

This is now marking two cycles since the funeral for Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, prior to his interment in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. Over 60 heads of state, and some 160-170 international delegations were in attendance. Currently this is the final day of Pope Leo’s four-day visit to France, the day when Pope Leo will be in Metz where he will pay tribute to Robert Schuman, a founding father of the European Union, who is now a candidate for beatification. As this is the opening day of Paris Womenswear Fashion Week, that runs to Oct. 6th, many eyes will be on Paris at this time, and on the journalists who will cover these events.

This is also Confucius’s birthday, sometimes called “Teacher’s Day” as Confucius is known as China’s “First Teacher”.

In addition, this is the final day of the General Debate at the United Nations, with the United Nations High-level Meeting to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, the global blueprint for racial justice and equality, adopted at the 2001 World Conference Against Racism in South Africa, that laid the foundation for much of today’s international work against racial discrimination. This meeting is seen as an opportunity to accelerate collective efforts to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance under the theme: “Mobilizing global public support for the full and effective implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.” After this final day of the General Debate, additional plenary meetings in General Assembly Hall will continue in October.

It has now been six cycles since the Jan. 6th Committee in Washington held its fourth public hearing, which focused on the dumpster’s alleged efforts to unduly influence state legislators and election officials in 2020. Unfathomably, he is still trying to do just that with regard to the forthcoming midterm elections in the US. This day also marks 7 months exactly since he started the Iran war “on a whim” with no clear justification or plan, and no clue as to how to end it.

3 Ok 3 Yax (Sept. 29th) – a Burner Day representative of the “activation of fire” (or heart-fire, represented by a dog), this is an energy that can be “hot” and firey or very heart-centred as it was in 2021 when President Biden’s Presidential Inauguration Committee lit up the nearly 200,000 flags in the “Field of Flags” (representing people from the 50 states and U.S. territories who were unable to travel due to the pandemic and security threats), that was on display at the National Mall in Washington for Biden’s inauguration.

Currently this is Michelmas, the feast of the Archangels, aka the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel (in some areas) and World Heart Day dedicated to raising awareness about how to combat cardiovascular disease.

At the United Nations a High-level Plenary Meeting will be held to Commemorate and Promote the UN’s International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

It has now been seven cycles since the release, in 2021, of a lengthy report into sexual abuse in the French Catholic Church, that indicated that some 330,000 children have been victims of abuse by members of the Catholic clergy in France since 1950. The report was seen as a turning point in the history of the church, as it was seen that, until the early 2000s, the Catholic Church had shown “a profound and even cruel indifference towards the victims”. Although that church has been focusing on such things as victim compensation, institutional recognition of responsibilities, and prevention efforts since then, the question of the current state of its “terrible abuses” is still under review. During his visit to France, Pope Leo is scheduled to meet with some of the victims of this abuse.

This was anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela’s Maya birth energy, and the Maya birth energy of Argentinian surgeon Rene Favaloro, the doctor who performed the first bypass surgery, changing heart treatment forever. It was also the Maya birth energy of 97 year old Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama (the “princess of polka dots” who specialized in large scale installations which incorporate different styles of dots), who passed just a few weeks ago, on Aug. 14th. Her “Retrospective of Infinity” Mirrored Room exhibit opened at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam on Sept. 11th. Her Infinity Mirrored Room – Let’s Survive Forever exhibit at the AGO in Toronto is on display until next month (Oct. 25th).

4 Chuwen 4 Yax (Sept. 30th) – a “defining” day associated with creativity (and sometimes mischief); a “time-weaver” type of energy that can be quite eventful, as could be seen in 2024 when hundreds of performers, acrobats, dancers, and circus artists took part in the closing ceremony for the Summer Olympics in Paris.

Four Chuwen tends to be an energy that can “weave events together” in often unusual ways, as seen eight long cycles ago on the last day of what was referred to “the worst presidency in history” as factcheckers reported that Trump told an average of some 4,000 lies per month during his first term in office. (Little could anyone have imagined a much, much worse 2.0 comeback, during which he would attempt to break not only the U.S., but the international world order.) That was the energy in place in 2021 when then-President-elect Joe Biden held a lighting ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, just before he was sworn into office, in memory of the 400,000 people in the U.S. who had died from Covid by that point.

It has now been two cycles since the Liberals again won Canada’s federal election and Mark Carney became Canada’s new prime minister. Since then he has become a kind of nemesis for the dumpster, refusing to give in to threats, and becoming a strong voice of reason in international relations.

In Canada this is the 6th National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, aka Orange Shirt Day, which was designated as a national statutory holiday in June of 2021. The creation of this important day, in remembrance of the roughly 150,000 First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children in Canada who were forced to attend and suffer terrible abuses imposed by church-run residential schools over a period of more than 120 years, and the more than 4,000 children who are believed to have died in those schools, was one of the Calls to Action put forward by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

This is the UN’s International Translation Day, celebrated on the feast day of St. Jerome, the Bible translator who is considered the Patron Saint of Translators. It’s also International Podcast Day, and Johnny Mathis’s 91st birthday. Known as one of the best selling artists of the 20th Century, Johnny’s career spanned almost 7 decades (69 continuous years) prior to his retirement from live performing in May of 2025.

5 Eb’ 5 Yax G1 (October 1st) – a “precision” (or “blessing”) type of energy (in this case, a “double blessing”) associated with restorative vitality, as was in place in January, 2021 at the time of the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th US president, and Kamala Harris as the first female Vice-President, with rays of sunlight coming through the clouds to illuminate them. That was the 60th Gregorian anniversary of the day when Pres. John F. Kennedy took his oath of office in 1961 as the 35th president, when President Kennedy gave his famous “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country” speech.

That day in 2021, when Joe Biden became the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, was a Maya Calendar anniversary of the energy that was in place in 1775 when George Washington formally received his commission as Commander-in-Chief of the army during the Revolutionary War (after being selected for this on One Lamat).

Currently this energy is coinciding with National Day in China, at the beginning of Golden Week, currently marking the 77th Gregorian anniversary of the proclamation of the founding of The People’s Republic of China. This national seven day holiday can often foment massive traffic jams due to the humungous movement of people.

In addition this is:

• the start of National Arts and Humanities month in the US
• the UN’s International Day for Older Persons, on what would have been former President Jimmy Carter’s 102nd birthday
• World Vegetarian Day
• the beginning of Women’s History month in Canada
• the beginning of a new fiscal year for the US government
• Defenders’ Day in Ukraine, to honour armed forces veterans and fallen members of the Ukrainian armed forces
• The launch of the 13th crew rotation mission of SpaceX’s human space transportation system, and the 14th flight of the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft carrying people.
• The start of the final Night Lord sequence of the current 260 cycle, signified by the G1 indicator seen next to the 5 Eb’ 5 Yax date notation.

 

6 B’en 6 Yax G2 (Oct. 2nd) – representative of “personal authority everywhere”, coinciding at this time with the Catholic Feast of the Guardian Angels, a celebration of the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels who are thought to guard over individuals.

This is also the UN’s International Day of Non-Violence, always observed on Mahatma Gandhi’s Gregorian birthday, and the final day of the Judeo/Christian Feast of the Tabernacles, aka Sukkot, the Jewish holiday that began on Sept. 25th

This is marking two cycles since the completion of the Orange Felon’s 2.0 first 100 days (seen by many as “100 days of Grift and Destruction” and “100 days of Ineptitude and Corruption”), which has augmented continuously since that time. That was a day when it was reported that many of the dumpster’s “followers” had become severely disillusioned – Qanon believers were in disarray, losing faith, and realizing that they had been “duped” and “sold out”. Since then legions more have finally come to the same realization and many Republican lawmakers are finally making moves to disassociate themselves from him (although for most, this is much, much too late, and they will be forever tarnished).

This is also marking eight T’zolkin cycles since President Biden unveiled a comprehensive Covid strategy, the day after he assumed office in 2021, and one cycle since NATO allies deployed troops to defend Greenland, in response to imperialistic threats from the dumpster. One cycle ago the “Coalition of the Willing”, a coalition of 35 countries who are supporting Ukraine, were in the process of developing a multinational force to help defend Ukraine from Russian provocation, but still the Russia-Ukraine war drags on.

At this point it has been 14 cycles since the monumental climate change deal was finalized in 2016 by nearly 200 countries at the UN’s 24th Climate Change Conference in Katowice, Poland. Unfathomably, however, just over one cycle ago the U.S.withdrew from the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and from 65 other organizations, agencies and commissions, which cemented the US’s utter isolation from the global effort to combat climate change.

7 Ix 7 Yax G3 (Oct. 3rd) – a “self generating transformation” type of energy, often aligned with “magic”, as Venus goes retrograde, now marking 13 cycles exactly since protesters across the U.S. in dozens of cities held massive rallies calling for the dumpster’s impeachment, in the summer of 2017. As it turned out, they finally got their wish – TWICE, but it took much too long to get there – and was not adequately supported by Republicans. Then again, two cycles ago (on May Day – International Workers’ Day) there were huge protest marches, town hall meetings, and similar actions in some 1,100 cities across the US, to rally against the “billionaire takeover” of the federal government. Hundreds of thousands of people took part in similar demonstrations around the world, as part of a wider backlash against the global surge of hard-right politics. Huge rallies took place in London, Paris, Berlin, and Tokyo, as well as in Italy, the Philippines, Greece, and even Turkey.

Along these same lines, this is currently the day of the Power to the People concert in Columbia, MC, which will celebrate “freedom, justice, equality and rock ’n’ roll,” with a portion of proceeds benefiting VoteRiders and HeadCount.

At the time of the announcement of this concert, last May 27th, Bruce Springsteen said, “The Gestapo tactics of this president and this administration will not stand here.” “This American tragedy can only be stopped by the American people: you. There is no one coming to save us. We’ve got to do it ourselves. So join us and let’s fight for the America that we love.” Tom Morello said “It’s about the power everyday human beings have when they come together through music, art, community and action. We’re honored to bring this incredible lineup to the DC area for a day that celebrates the spirit of activism, creativity, and hope.”

This is the 61st anniversary of President Lyndon B. Johnson signing into law of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, aka the Hart-Celler Act, and is the starting day for the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival.

In South Korea this is the Foundation Day public holiday, known as the Festival of the Opening of Heaven, Tangun Day or Gaecheonjeol, commemorating the mythical founding of Korea by Tangun in 2333 BC. The holiday is celebrated with ceremonies on the summit of Mount Manisan on Kanghwa Island, about 25 miles west of Seoul. According to tradition, this is where Tangun offered sacrifices to heaven.

Back in 1922 this was the energy in place when the Fascist leader Mussolini demanded that King Victor Emmanuel of Italy hand over to him and his organization complete control of Italy’s government, under the threat that he would mobilize his 800,000 supporters and fight his way to power. The king agreed and allowed him to form a cabinet. Ultimately, however, this did NOT end well for Mussolini – something to keep in mind.

8 Men 8 Yax G4 (Oct. 4th) a “resurrection” type of energy associated with the high vision of the Eagle, as Saturn reaches the bright halfway point of its cycle, with planet Earth directly between Saturn and the Sun, now coinciding with the start of the UN’s World Space Week, with this year’s theme being “Rocket Revolution”.

This is a strong “solar oriented” type of energy which expressed itself quite forcefully four cycles ago when the sun ejected a powerful M9.8 solar flare, which followed several others emitted over the previous couple of days, to create a “Cannibal” CME that triggered large geomagnetic storms felt on Earth shortly thereafter.

At this time this day will bring forth the first round of voting for Brazil’s presidential election.  Hopefully this “high vision of the Eagle” energy will bring some semblance of heightened awareness and a heightened sense of personal responsibility as election season unfolds in both the Brazil and the US, and as people continue to work towards finding viable solutions to Earth’s many critical problems.

Indeed, when this energy was in place last January it was the 80th anniversary of the UN’s first major meeting, at the time when the United Nations’ secretary general, António Guterres, made an impassioned plea for the virtues of multilateralism and international law to prevail during a period of deepening global uncertainty. That was the day when European and South American officials signed a major free trade agreement, paving the way for the European Union’s largest-ever trade accord amid tariff threats and deepening uncertainty around global cooperation. The deal, finalised on this day between the 27-nation EU and South America’s Mercosur bloc created one of the world’s largest free trade areas after 25 years of negotiations.

In addition, this is:

• the final day for Munich’s 191st Octoberfest
• World Animal Day and the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment, a time for many Blessing of the Animals events .
  The theme for World Animal Day this year is “See the World Through Their Eyes”. This special day was initiated in 1931 at a convention of ecologists to highlight the plight of endangered species, and since then has been observed annually as a tribute day for all animals.
• the start of Banned Books Week, with this year’s theme being “Let Books Be: Protect the Freedom to read”. During this week bookstores, libraries, universities, and other organizations host engaging programs that spotlight censorship. This will culminate on “Let Freedom Read” Day on Oct. 11th.
• the opening day for Mental Illness Awareness Week, dedicated to education and increasing awareness about mental health.

 

9 Kib’ 9 Yax G5 (Oct. 5th) – an expansive, “restoration of order” type of energy, sometimes associated with making “adjustments”, often with long term implications.

With the Moon in close conjunction with Mars, with Jupiter nearby, this is the opening day for the 77th International Astronautical Congress, the world’s premier global space conference, being held this year in Antalya, Türkiye under the theme of “The World Needs More Space”.

It is also UNESCO’s World Teachers’ Day, with this year’s theme being “AI and education: Preserving human agency in a world of automation”, and World Habitat Day, with this year’s theme being “Adequate Housing for all”. This marks the beginning of “announcement week” for this year’s Nobel prizes.

Four cycles ago this was in place at the opening of the COP28 UN climate summit, in Dubai, UAE, at which time some 85,000 participants and more than 150 Heads of State and Government from some 196 countries met to assess progress towards meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement. This was seen as the first “global stocktake” of the world’s efforts to address climate change, and resulted in a “escape plan” for “a world on fire”, to speed up the transition away from fossil fuels. But the US put the kibosh into many of the plans that were being made, as they backed away from dozens of key climate related agreements, while advocating for greater use of fossil fuels (even “stealing oil” to do so), and the implications of those highly irresponsible actions are now being revealed everywhere.

10 Kab’an 10 Yax G6 (Oct. 6th) – a foundational type of energy associated with the earth and evolutionary movement, as was in place in 1917 at the time of the October Revolution in Russia when the Communists (Bolsheviks) came to power. This energy was also in place at the second inauguration of President Lincoln, in 1865, at which time he said:

With malice toward none; with charity for all…let us strive on to finish the work we are in…to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.

In 1973 this was the energy in effect when the first Watergate hearings took place as major insights into Republican chicanery during the Nixon era began to be revealed.

The last time this was in place three American archbishops pointed out that the actions of the dumpster’s administration were raising significant moral questions, as they called for a foreign policy that “respects and advances the right to human life, religious liberty, and the enhancement of human dignity throughout the world, especially through economic assistance.” They said they could not stand by “while decisions are made that condemn millions to lives trapped permanently at the edge of existence.”

Currently this is the National Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Recovery and  Understanding, as part of Mental Illness Awareness week (the first full week of October).  This marks one cycle exactly since renowned journalist Anne Applebaum echoed countless others who have commented on the dangerously deranged state of the convicted felon currently occupying the White House. His bizarre ramblings at that time, she noted, should have been “the last straw” but, as she pointed out, the people around him “seem too corrupt or too power-hungry to try”. That was 260 days ago, but now, with midterm elections underway in the US, it is the citizens of that country who need to fully acknowledge the situation and deliver the verdict that will finally oust him. Note that this is the Maya birth energy of the Marquis de Lafayette, the French military officer and politician who was so instrumental in helping General George Washington during the American Revolutionary War.

This is also World Architecture Day, with the 2026 theme being “Design for Strength”.

11 Etz’nab’ 11 Yax G7 (Oct. 7th) – an “inspirational flint” (knife-edge) type of force that can be quite decisive, dazzling and attention-getting, a kind of “wake up and pay attention” type of energy, as was in place last January on the day of the massive Free America Walkouts across all 50 states in the US.

That was the day when, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Canadian prime minister Mark Carney said that the US-led global system of governance was enduring “a rupture,” defined by a great power competition and a “fading” rules-based order. That was when he called upon middle powers to act together against those that were pursuing their own interests “using economic integration as coercion”.

Two cycles ago this energy marked the completion of nine days of mourning after the funeral of Pope Francis, just before the conclave began. Two cycles before that Pope Francis had sent a written message to the COP28 meeting, calling on the U.N. climate summit to strive for an essential breakthrough agreement to stem global warming that would includes the elimination of fossil fuels, since climate had “run amok.” As he put it: “We have a grave responsibility: to ensure that [our children] not be denied their future. The climate, run amok, is crying out to us to halt this illusion of omnipotence. Let us once more recognize our limits, with humility and courage, as the sole path to a life of authentic fulfillment.”

That was the day when large geomagnetic storms hit the Northern hemisphere, with auroras reported as far south as Greece and Turkey, caused by a powerful M9.8 solar flare, which followed several others emitted over the previous few days, to create a “Cannibal” CME. Even the skies over Mongolia turned deep, blood red – a very rare occurrence.

Currently this is Opal Lee’s 100th birthday. Opal is the feisty civil rights activist known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth”, who fought so long and hard to make Juneteenth a federally-recognized holiday in the U.S. Happy Birthday Opal! This is also the UN’s World Cotton Day, with this year’s theme being “Cotton, the fabric of our lives”.

This is now marking three years since the Oct. 7th, 2023 attacks on Israel that lit the fuse for the devastating war in Gaza and five cycles exactly since the International Criminal Court issued an indictment and arrest warrant for Putin for war crimes relating to the deportation of Ukrainian children. And yet the dumpster has invited him to the forthcoming G20 summit in Miami, scheduled for December.

In a whole other area, back in 1955, this was the Maya Calendar energy that was in place when a young Elvis Presley gave his first professional performance in his hometown of Tupelo. It was the spark that triggered the birth of rock ‘n’ roll.

12 Kawak 12 Yax G8 (Oct. 8th) – an intense and “dedicated gathering storm/ catalyzation” type of energy that can provide a final big PUSH toward enlightenment, at the peak of the Draconid meteor shower, into the early hours of the next morning, now marking two cycles since the selection process began in the Vatican to elect a new pope. That was the day when Prime Minster Mark Carney made his first visit to the White House, at which time he told the dumpster that “Canada will never be for sale”.

This is the World Health Organization’s World Sight Day, and the opening day for New York’s Comic Con, billed as North America’s most attended fan convention, which runs to Oct. 11th.

It is also CNN’s 6th annual Call to Earth, with this year’s theme being “Think Blue”, to highlight the need for protecting the ocean. This is a worldwide call for people to get involved, to do something personally to protect the planet. This is the day when CNN uses its global presence for special coverage of “a day of action to raise awareness of environmental issues and to engage with conservation education”, as it encourages schools, individuals and organizations to work together globally to clean up green spaces, plant trees, and support the natural world.

This is now marking 12 cycles exactly since the massive “March for Our Lives” demonstrations in Washington D.C. and other major cities in the spring of 2018, when some two million people marched across the U.S. in the “largest student protest in American history” by that time, with millions more estimated to have marched throughout the world in support of gun control legislation. Five cycles ago tens of thousands of Israelis were marching in nationwide protests against the Israeli government’s plan to undermine the judicial system. Unfortunately that did not work, and two cycles ago an Israeli government minister vowed that “Gaza will be entirely destroyed” as a result of an Israeli military victory, and that its Palestinian population will “leave in great numbers to third countries”, raising fears of ethnic cleansing in the occupied territory. And yet the Israeli war-mongering machine is still tormenting Palestinians.

This would have been the 85th Gregorian birthday of political activist and civil rights leader Jesse Jackson (who passed on Feb. 17th), and social movement activist Gloria Steinem’s Maya birth energy. An acclaimed journalist, Gloria was a passionate spokeswoman for women’s rights for decades. She passed on Sept. 2.

13 Ajaw 13 Yax G9 (Oct. 9th) – “transformational Full Sun”, a day often filled with high drama and great change – and sometimes even great light (enlightenment), now marking 5040 days since the beginning of the current era in the Maya Calendar (from Dec. 21, 2012). This day is coinciding with an important Tun Shift in the Maya Long Count calendar as the Long Count date becomes 13.0.14.0.0, marking the conclusion of the current 260-day Imix-to-Ajaw cycle, on a “double 13” day. A double-13 day like this, with the addition of G9 (the ninth Night Lord out of a series of 9) would have been a significant Period Ending day for the Classic Era Maya, and would still be seen by the present day Maya as a day of great importance.

This marks two cycles since the conclave began as 135 cardinals gathered in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel to begin the secretive election process to choose a new pope in May of 2025, with the new pope (Pope Leo) being chosen the following day. This was also the Maya Calendar energy in place at the time of the jubilant celebration of VJ Day at the end of World War II after the unconditional surrender of Japan in August of 1945.

The last time this was in place former special counsel Jack Smith testified in a public congressional hearing relating to his investigation into Trump’s efforts to subvert the 2020 election in the US, at which time he emphasized that he has proof “beyond a reasonable doubt” that the dumpster engaged in criminal activities, and that their case would stand up to litigation. He also warned that there are potentially “catastrophic” ongoing threats to US democracy because of the failure to hold Trump accountable for his “criminal” attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

It has now been 22 cycles exactly since the great “moment of transition” in Egypt in 2011 when hundreds of thousands of people, “electric with anticipation”, waited for President Mubarak to step down. Note that it was the first day of this Lamat trecena in January of 2011 when the Egyptian people began gaining international support for their push towards a new government, and by the end of the trecena they accomplished their mission. Even though Mubarak indicated that he was not quitting on this day, the anticipation turned to rage as people vowed to escalate the demonstrations. He then stepped down the following day. Wouldn’t it be a jubilant “Hail Mary” kind of achievement if Americans could accomplish something similar in their own country. They have an opportunity, just 25 days from now, to do just that in their midterm elections. Wouldn’t that be the perfect way to conclude their 250th anniversary year?

This is the day when the winner of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced.
