There will be dazzle, and there will be sparks – and some of that will relate to questions that are hanging in the air – questions about why Putin has just arrived in China for a state visit so soon after Trump’s departure; questions about the standoff between the US and Iran, and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz; questions about the on-going wars; questions about the weaponization of the US justice system; questions about the head-spinning corruption at the highest levels of the US government. But keep in mind that this scintillating trecena often shines the “light of truth” on matters of great significance, so that substantive decisions can be made and actions can be taken. This is a time frame associated with dualities, often pertaining to life and death issues that must be addressed in order to move forward. Decisions made during this period generally set the foundations for the “creation sequence” that will follow in the next trecena. This period will complete the first half-cycle (the first 130 days) of the current 260-day Tzolk’in cycle.

As has been so evident in the past, this is a time frame that can highlight sharp contrasts, with Etz’nab’ (Flint) serving as a kind of “knife-edge” between two opposing forces. During this period dualities are often brought into stark contrast, so that whatever is no longer needed can be identified and neutralized. Events that unfold during this period can often result in the cutting away of whatever no longer “works” in order to foment change, and even promote healing. This is even reflected in the nature of the patron energies of this time period, with one representing the warmth of the sun and the other representing the coldness of the Underworld.

During this period it is not unusual for events of a dramatic, and even “shocking”, nature to take place, as opposing forces vie for dominance. It is also possible that events can become so compelling, or issues so urgent, that they can provide the “spark” that can initiate new forms of thought or action.

At the present time it is not difficult to see where battle lines have been drawn. In the US the nature of the monstrous greed and corruption associated with the current occupants of the White House and their sychophants have become more and more evident over the past cycle, and pushback on multiple levels has increased substantially. Similarly the “East vs West”, autocracy vs democracy, human rights vs authoritarianism, “right to life” vs genocide, divisions are clear to see. And at this point the great “integrity vs corruption” divide is also drawing considerable attention. While it is impossible to predict what these 13 days will bring, past actions can offer some perspective on how great shifts can happen.

When these energies were in place in February of 2022, for instance, it seemed as though a tipping point was being reached in the US as considerable havoc was being wrought by right-wing conspiracy theorists. At that time Russia was poised to invade Ukraine. Then one cycle later, in November of 2022, the midterm elections in the U.S. brought forth a change in the balance of power in Congress, about the same time as world leaders were acknowledging that the climate crisis had reached a “really bleak moment”, with the need for global collective action becoming acute. Indeed, by July of 2023 (four cycles ago) the Northern hemisphere was sweltering under a “supercharged” heat wave that brought record-breaking temperatures. Sparks were flying at that time, with severe weather events, entertainment industry strikes, and high level legal actions underway, including in Georgia. At that time it was thought that the war in Gaza would soon be over and that aid for the starving people would soon be allowed to be delivered. There was a sense of “enough is enough”.

Three cycles ago (in April of 2024) it seemed as if the US judicial system was finally getting down to brass tacks with its prosecutions in various cases involving the dumpster, who was being referred to at that time as “Defendant Number One”, leading up to the opening of the first criminal trial against a former U.S. president (as an individual, not a company). Further delays were being denied, progress was being made in courts, and there was considerable pushback against the immunity issue. Even in Gaza thousands of Palestinians were being allowed to return to their homes as Israel pulled ground forces out of the southern region. In many ways it seemed as though lines were being drawn in the sand that said “the buck stops here”!

But then came the 2024 US presidential election, and everything changed. With the announcement (on 13 Etz’nab’) that Kamala Harris had conceded, the global community knew that there would be great turbulence ahead and feared that progress could be halted on a number of fronts. And indeed, when this trecena came into place just 40 days after that announcement, sparks began to fly, beginning with a mass shooting at a school in the US, the assassination of a Russian general in Moscow, reports of the deaths of hundreds of North Korean soldiers fighting with Russian soldiers in Ukraine, many Republicans voting against a Trump-Musk budget proposal, and reports of bitter in-fighting in the MAGA world. The trecena began with Judge Merchan’s denial of Trump’s motion to dismiss the indictment and verdict [on presidential immunity grounds] in the hush money case since there was “overwhelming evidence of guilt” and the case was related to “unofficial conduct”. Unfortunately, after that the dumpster wasted no time in putting his dictatorial plans into action, and things began to go rapidly downhill.

Looking at the deeper past it is not difficult to find many events that have taken place during this period that have determined the fate of nations, as seen in 1814 when Napoléon Bonaparte was knocked off his self-styled lofty perch and exiled in disgrace to a small island during this time frame, bringing the grandiose Napoléonic era to an ignominious end.

In 1933 this was the trecena that was in place when Herr Hitler and other Nazis stepped in to consolidate their authoritarian power after the Reichstag fire in Berlin, a pivotal event in the establishment of the Nazi regime. In 1948 Mahatma Ghandi was killed on the first day of this trecena, and in 2019 General Qasem Soleimani, Iran’s top military commander, was assassinated by a US drone strike. On the first day of this trecena in 2022 the Prime Minister of Libya’s car was struck with bullets (but he managed to escape), and one cycle later, also on the first day, came the severe attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband. The last time this trecena was in place it brought the political the assassination of far-right commentator and Trump ally Charlie Kirk, followed immediately thereafter by another school shooting in the US. As WAPO noted, this signalled that “America has entered a new age of political violence”.

This was also the trecena that was in place at the time of the devastating 7.0 earthquake that flattened Haiti in 2010, at the time of Superstorm Sandy on the east coast of the US in 2012, at the time of the terrifying attack on Charlie Hebdo journalists and cartoonists in Paris in 2015, and at the time of the horrific fire that consumed the roof and spire of the famed Notre Dame de Paris cathedral in 2019.

In 2014 this was the trecena in place when the Ukrainian government began mobilizing its military for “large scale anti-terrorist operations” after a day of violence in eastern Ukraine when government buildings in several cities were seized by heavily armed, masked pro-Russian activists. Five years later, as 2019 drew to a close, a “full and comprehensive” ceasefire between Russia and eastern Ukraine came into effect, echoing other instances in world history where particular trecenas have seen the beginnings and endings of specific conflicts. Unfortunately, six cycles ago (in Feb. of 2022) it was frighteningly evident that a massive buildup of Russian forces was taking place on Ukraine’s border once again, and by the end of the trecena it was clear that Putin had issued a “go” order in his attempt to seize control of Ukraine. As this trecena opens at this time it marks Day 1,546 of that war and the two sides continue to hurl hundreds of drones and missiles at each other, seemingly now on almost a daily basis.

But as much as it appears at the moment that there are many stalemates in place, keep in mind that this trecena often brings sudden change, as it did one cycle ago (last September) in Brazil when that country’s former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to more than 27 years in prison for plotting a military coup and seeking to “annihilate” Brazil’s democracy. One of the justices in that trial denounced what she called Bolsonaro’s attempt to “sow the malignant seed of anti-democracy” in Brazil – but celebrated how the country’s institutions had survived and were fighting back. “Brazilian democracy was not shaken,” she said, as she warned of the spread of “the virus of authoritarianism”. Two days prior to that Bolsonaro had been found guilty of leading a criminal organisation that was victimizing the Brazilian state.

So now the key question is – will the US be able to do the same? With the Trumpian corruption so blatantly obvious that even former MAGA supporters are deserting that ship, with his approval ratings collapsing across the board as a result of his warmongering and dismantling of a multitude of government programs, with his highly incompetent Cabinet in disarray, with the weaponization of major governmental organizations such as the FBI and DoJ, with citizens pushing pack against his actions and policies across the nation, and with the widespread loss of confidence and respect for US on the world stage, it is high time for the tide to turn.

Once again, many stark contrasts between opposing forces will be illuminated dramatically during this period. Sparks will continue to fly, and issues associated with “justice vs. injustice”, “sanity vs. insanity”, and “order vs. anarchy” will be in sharp contrast. Keep in mind that this IS the decisive Etz’nab’ (“the buck stops here”) trecena that often brings an end to specific forms of “reality”, prior to the creation of something new. The loss of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert during this period will be a stark reminder of this trecena’s definitive nature. And Cher will likely have a few things to say about her 80th birthday on the first day of this period. Other noteworthy birthdays during this period include Clint Eastwood’s 96th, Robert Bateman’s 95th, Bob Dillon’s 85th, and Ronnie Wood’s 79th.

On a personal level, this is always an opportune time for reassessment, a great time to cut away whatever no longer “works” in order to make adjustments that could lead to new forms of thought or action. It is a highly favorable time for “spring cleaning” (both physically and metaphorically), not only to get rid of the “rot and mold” that has been collecting over the past cycle, but also in preparation for the “creation” energies that will follow in the next trecena.

During this period it is a good rule of thumb to stay alert, vigilant, and to proceed with caution, as this tends to be one of the most intense and consequential 13-day periods in the entire 260-day cycle – definitely a time to “tread carefully”. Again, this is a key trecena within the 260-day cycle as a whole, the final 13-day period in the first half of the cycle, leading up to the “creation sequence” which will begin on June 2nd. Here are the energies that will be in play:

1 Etz’nab’ (May 20th) – the “initiation” of Flint, a sparkling, attention-getting “shock and awe” type of energy that can dazzle and/or divide and separate. Given that parts of the US central plains are currently under severe storm threats this suggests that extra care might be needed to “batten down the hatches” in those areas at this time.

In Aztec mythology this was the birth energy of Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec solar deity who was also associated with war. While solar events often coincide with this force, earthly flareups are not unusual under this influence. Note that eagles and hummingbirds were seen by the Aztec as being representative of that fierce solar entity.

Currently this is the seventh Gregorian anniversary of the inauguration of President Zelenskyy in Ukraine, as he took the lead in defending his country from Russian invasions. This is also the second day of Putin’s visit to China, with his meeting with President Xi taking place just four days after Trump left China after his summit with President Xi. The key question here is: “what is going on with that?” This is now marking six Tzolk’in cycles exactly since Russia and Belarus undertook joint military exercises in 2022, just two weeks before Russia began attacking Ukraine. One cycle ago (last September) the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit was underway in Tianjin, China, hosted by President Xi and attended by Russia’s President Putin, India’s PM Narendra Modi, and Turkey’s President Erdoğan, as well as by the leaders of 16 observer or “dialogue partner” nations.

This is the UN’s World Bee Day, oriented around raising awareness concerning the importance of protecting bees and other pollinators from all the threats they face, and raising awareness of their contributions to sustainable development. The goal is to strengthen measures to protect bees and other pollinators, which would significantly contribute to solving problems related to the global food supply and help to eliminate hunger in developing countries. This is also Cher’s 80th Gregorian birthday. Happy birthday Cher!

2 Kawak (May 21st) – a “dynamic storm, catalyzation” type of force that often manifests as the “generation of a storm, or a storm of compassion”, coinciding at this time with UNESCO’s World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, a day designated by the United Nations as an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the values of cultural diversity and to learn to live together in harmony – something needed more than ever. This is also Global Accessibility Awareness Day, associated with spreading awareness about how to make technologies more available to people with disabilities.

This tends to be a highly cause-oriented energy often fueled by strong emotion or great passion, as was in place in June of 2016, when Hillary Clinton emphatically warned that electing the “dangerously incoherent” dumpster would be an historic mistake, as she highlighted what that might trigger. Precisely one cycle later, on 2 Kawak in February of 2017, people were already acknowledging the truth of her warning through a nationwide General Strike/National Day of Action in the U.S.

To the disappointment of millions, this day will bring the final episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert after Paramount decided to cancel the popular show, after a merger that required approval from the dumpster’s administration. Both the Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon shows will be dark during the final broadcast of the Colbert show. Not only Colbert, but The Late Show itself is being completely retired from CBS. Many are vowing to boycott CBS completely because of this.

It has now been one cycle since U.S. Representative Ro Khanna, one of the congressmen pushing for full release of the Epstein files, held a news conference with victims of that convicted sex offender, which forced lawmakers to vote on a bill requiring the Justice Department to release those long-awaited files.

3 Ajaw (May 22nd) – the “Activation of Enlightenment” – an important Burner Day traditionally oriented around the idea of “announcing the fire”, coinciding at this time with the UN’s International Day for Biological Diversity, with this year’s theme being “Acting locally for global impact”.

This is the first of four Ajaw-related “Burner Days” that run from here until mid July, so whatever is “in the works” would be “announced” around this time. Traditionally this is a point where clarity can suddenly break through on important issues, with Ajaw’s “full sun” illuminating things that previously may have been hidden. (There are 20 days between each of these Ajaw Burner “stations” – the next one will be on June 11th).

It has now been five cycles since Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won the highly consequential run-off presidential election in Brazil, bringing forth a monumental change in power in that country. In 1814 this was the energy in place when Napoléon Bonaparte abdicated the throne, and in 1944 this was one of the energies in place when an attempt was made to assassinate Hitler. In 1983 this was the energy in place when the Soviets shot down a Korean airline, bringing the world to the brink of nuclear war.

Two cycles ago the Human Rights Watch (HRW) investigating Israeli attacks on the water supply infrastructure in Gaza issued a report titled Extermination and Acts of Genocide that made a case pertaining to how such attacks were essentially crimes against humanity. That came after an Amnesty International report concluded that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza. How is it possible that Gaza is still being randomly attacked even though there is supposedly a ceasefire?

4 Imix (May 23rd) – representative of the sun working with the waters of creation to bring something new into being, this is a “defining” type of energy associated with “birth” (ie. a “whole new world” or a “whole new way of thinking”), now coinciding with the start of the George Floyd Global Memorial Foundation’s three-day “Rise & Remember” festival commemorating George Floyd and others who have lost their lives unjustly due to racism.

This is the 6th annual “Angelversary” for this cause, which will focus on education, empowerment, and healing associated with the pursuit of racial justice and equality. Events will include a conference, a candlelight vigil, a gala, and a festival.

This is the start of Odesa Week in Vancouver, in honour of one of the oldest sister-city partnerships in North America. Events this year will focus not only the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on that city, but will also involve music, film, visual arts, and discussions to highlight the history, beauty, and resilience of Odesa. This is also the Maya birth energy of Yulia Navalnaya, Alexei’s Navalny’s “fearless” wife, who stepped into Alexei’s former position after his death, as leader of the opposition against Putin.

This is the opening day for the “Winston Churchill The Painter” exhibition in London.

5 Ik’ (May 24th) – the “blessing” of wind/breath, and spirit – an energy that could enhance communication and perhaps even assist with bringing clarity or the idea of “hope” with regard to critical issues or events, coinciding at this time with Pentecost Sunday, 7 weeks after Easter. Rituals related to the Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, begin in the evening.

This is the legendary Bob Dylan’s 85th Gregorian birthday, and the 95th Gregorian birthday of renowned naturalist/artist Robert Bateman who has devoted his life to raising awareness about the beauty and majesty of the natural world and the wonders of its inhabitants.

This marks 13 cycles since the nationwide “Not My President’s Day” protest marches across the U.S. in 2017 just after the dumpster’s first inauguration.

6 Ak’b’al (May 25th) – a “structuring” type of energy sometimes associated with “home and/or sanctuary”, but also “the darkness before dawn”, now coinciding with Memorial Day in the US, a day to commemorate and honour deceased service men and women. In June of 1917 this was the energy in place when the first of 14,000 US soldiers began arriving at the port of St. Nazaire in France to join the Allied forces in fighting against Germany during World War I.

This is the third and final day of the George Floyd Global Memorial Foundation’s three-day festival, now marking six Gregorian years since the horrific death of George Floyd in Minneapolis that triggered massive Black Lives Matter demonstrations in Minneapolis and elsewhere, as well as the push for police reforms and much greater accountability in law enforcement.

In India this is the start of the Ganga Dussehra festival, a highly auspicious day in the Hindu religion. It is believed that one can get salvation from sins or achieve Moksha (liberation) at this time by taking a dip in the Ganges River, which is seen as the incarnation of the Goddess Ganga.

This is also

• International Missing Children’s Day, to acknowledge the many children who go missing each year
• the 65th anniversary of the day when President John F. Kennedy presented, before a special joint session of Congress, his call to achieve a moon landing.
• International Tap Dance Day, which celebrates the art of tap dancing
• The start of the Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest city in Islam, beginning in the evening.

 

7 K’an (May 26th) – “self-generating germination”, situated at the pivotal middle point in this “knife edged” trecena, marking 14 cycles since Hillary Clinton became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, in 2016, on a day seen as an historic milestone for women. Had she not been thwarted by reckless accusations (and Russian election interference) at that time the last few years would have been completely different.

The last time this was in place the entire Epstein “birthday book” was released to the House Oversight Committee, but even so, much more related to that topic is still being suppressed.

Currently this is the start of the 3-day World Summit and Expo on Gravitation, Astrophysics and Cosmology in Prague; Celebration Day 2026 in the UK, to “honour and celebrate those who have shaped our lives but are no longer with us”; and World Dracula Day. The Muslim celebration of Eid Al-Adha (“the celebration of the sacrifice”) or Qurbani, begins in the evening

In 1814 this was the energy in place when the Treaty of Ghent was signed, bringing an end to the War of 1812 between Britain and the U.S.

8 Chikchan (May 27th) – the “resurrection of Lifeforce” (very appropriate after World Dracula Day),
often associated with “strong energy” events such as hurricanes. SpaceX was founded under this influence in 2002.

This can be a kind of “rallying” energy as well, as seen seven cycles ago (in 2021) when this energy brought forth a coaltion agreement in Israel, that paved the way to unseat Netanyahu. Unfortunately things later turned around, and then he resumed the role of prime minister . . . then came the increasingly horrendous Gaza situation, and Israel’s increasing attacks on Lebanon.

When this was in place last September, Chicago was forcefully pushing back against the dumpster administration’s “Operation Midway Blitz” attacks against the American people, through huge emergency ICE OUT OF CHICAGO protest demonstrations. In 1945, near the end of World War II, this was the energy in place at the beginning of the push by Canadian Forces to liberate the Western Netherlands.

Currently this marks the start of National Reconciliation Week in Australia, which will emphasize the need for greater understanding and support for the shared histories, cultures, and achievements of the inhabitants of Australia, with this year’s theme being “All In”, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation.

This is also National Senior Health and Fitness Day, in support of helping seniors to stay fit and healthy. We might also look to the Rolling Stones (and many other die-hard rockers) for advice in that regard. Who would have guessed they would be so resilient? (Also see 13 Ok, below)

Note, however, that it has now been 13 long, terrifying cycles since Dr. Lance Dodes of the New Center for Psychoanalysis commented (in 2017) about the dumpster’s mental health and how close he was to insane, noting that his “repeated, dangerous lying, makes him unfit and is a sign of a serious mental disturbance”. He also noted that the dumpster did not have a clear grasp of reality, as it was so clear that he makes up “realities” to suit his internal needs. Since then, many, many other mental health experts have made similar comments – often in great detail. How many more lives will be shattered before people finally DO SOMETHING to address this issue??

In addition, this is the first full day of the Muslim celebration of Eid Al-Adha (“the celebration of the sacrifice”) or Qurbani, which began the evening before.

9 Kimi (May 28th) – the “outward projection of death/new foundations, as was in place in April of 2024 at the time of the spectacular Total Solar Eclipse, echoing an earlier Total Solar Eclipse that came in on 9 Kimi in the summer of 1991 over Mexico City and other parts of the country. Although such an event was often seen by various traditional cultures as a sign of realignment and renewal, it may seem, in retrospect, that the 2024 eclipse triggered something else – something darker and more sinister, as many things started going significantly off-kilter not long after that.

Six cycles ago (early in 2022) this was the energy in place when federal judge Amit Mehta ruled that Trump could be culpable for the Jan. 6th insurrection, and lawsuits against him could proceed. In his scathing 112-page ruling, Judge Mehta wrote that the dumpster’s statements before the Jan. 6th riot were “the essence of civil conspiracy”, and that the speech he gave on Jan. 6th “can reasonably be viewed as a call for collective action”. Mehta ruled that three lawsuits (two brought by Democratic House members and one filed by Capitol police offices) could move to the evidence-gathering phase and on toward a trial – one of the dumpster’s major losses in court.

This 9 Kimi energy came into place just one week before the start of the hush money trial in April of 2024 – the first criminal trial against a former U.S. president (as an individual, not a company), and the defendant did everything he could to delay or create havoc with it.

This was the energy in place last September at the time of the assassination of far-right commentator and Trump ally Charlie Kirk, who thrived on outrage and intimidation and did not shy away in his rhetoric from bigotry, intolerance, exclusion and stereotyping. As WAPO noted, this signalled that “America has entered a new age of political violence”. As they noted, this event “increased political polarization” and “increased demonization of political rivals”, furthering the decline and disappearance of political discourse and policymaking, and propelling the country into a new and dangerous crisis.

It has now been ten cycles since the devastating April 15, 2019 Notre-Dame de Paris fire in Paris. Amazingly, just 5 ½ years later, it officially reopened.

This marks exactly nine cycles after the first official Covid 19 alert by China, on Dec. 31, 2019. One cycle later the global number of cases had reached over 30 million.

With regard to wars – it was 9 Kimi that was in place in November of 2012 when Israel was intensifying its assault against Gaza by launching hundreds of airstrikes against Hamas locations, with Hamas firing back. Hundreds of thousands of people took part in protest demonstrations against the Israel-Gaza conflict in over 50 major cities around the world. That was nearly 14 years ago!!! This was also the energy in place in 1918 when British and American forces crossed the border into Germany, in two different places, during WWI, beginning the allied forces’ occupation of the Rhineland. By this time the French had already occupied all of Alsace-Lorraine. It was also in place in April of 1940 when Germany invaded Denmark and Norway and began their occupation of those countries.

Currently this is the opening day for the 11th Contact in the Desert conference – billed as “the world’s largest UFO and UAP conference” – that runs to June 1st. This will likely be a busy time for those going through the recently released UFO files.

10 Manik’ (May 29th) – the “bare-bones”/foundational energy of “source” combined with that of the sun-carrying Deer, symbolic of reciprocity but also sacrifice, coinciding at this time with the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, with this year’s theme being “Invest in Peace. This is also the day when New York’s “Full Sun on the grid” Manhattanhenge will take place.

In 1814 this was the energy in place at the time of the signing of the Treaty of Fontainebleau that stripped Napoléon Bonaparte of his powers as ruler of the French Empire. Something similar happened the last time this was in place (last September) when Brazil’s former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to more than 27 years in prison for plotting a military coup and seeking to “annihilate” that South American country’s democracy. When announcing Bolsonaro’s sentence for crimes, including violently attempting to abolish Brazil’s democracy through an attempted coup d’etat, supreme court Justice Alexandre de Moraes said: “[He tried to] annihilate the essential pillars of the democratic rule-of-law state … the greatest consequence [of which] … would have been the return of dictatorship to Brazil.” Similarly, Justice Rocha denounced what she called an attempt to “sow the malignant seed of anti-democracy” in Brazil – but celebrated how the country’s institutions had survived and were fighting back. They were able to do what, so far, the US has not been able do – rid themselves of a dictator with “a criminal organisation” who was attempting to hijack the country. This is all the more shameful given how blatant and widespread the corruption has become. Referring to some of the dumpster’s “thoroughly illegal and unconstitutional” efforts to use taxpayer funds as a slush fund to finance a private militia, Congressman Jamie Raskin described this as “corruption unparalleled in American history”.

11 Lamat (May 30th) – a “bright light” kind of energy that often heralds something new, in conjunction with the “change” related energy of the number 11, now coinciding with the start of the D-Day festival in Normandy, the 82nd anniversary of the 1944 landings. Key events will take place from June 4-7.  In addition, this is the final day of the Muslim celebration of Eid Al-Adha, and the final day of the Hajj.

It was 11 Lamat that was in place in 2020 at the time of the death of the legendary US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the most admired, respected, and influential women in the US. This quickly turned into “the crisis of the Supreme Court” as politicians wrangled over who would replace her. Since then it has been one disastrous decision after another, along with scandal after scandal. Back in 1973 this was the energy in place when Judge John Sirica began the trial of the Watergate burglars.

In April of 2024 this was the energy in place at the time of President Biden’s historican meeting with Japan’s prime minister Kishida, as Japan sought to reinforce its defense capabilities. The meeting also reinforced Biden’s commitment to bolstering vital partnerships in the Indo-Pacific amid a militarily and economically resurgent China. One cycle before that Israel Today published a blacked-out front page, with a comment on the “darkness” associated with Netanyahu’s pushing through of a highly controversial judicial overhaul bill the day before. That was seen as the beginning of a major fight over Israel’s future and identity.

Back in 1933 this was the energy in place on that flashpoint day in Berlin when a fire broke out at the Reichstag (assembly location of the German government). That was when Herr Hitler and other Nazis stepped in to consolidate their authoritarian power – a “pivotal” event in the establishment of the Nazi regime.

Back in 2015 this was in place at the launch of the UN’s sustainable development agenda called “The 2030 Agenda” which was seen as “the new universal agenda for humanity” aimed at bringing an end to world poverty and biodiversity loss. But that was in 2015 and, shamefully, world poverty and starvation, and biodiversity loss, is more rampant than ever.

12 Muluk (May 31st) – a “pulling together” or “grouping together” type of energy associated with water, in place in conjuncton with a Blue Moon (the second Full Moon in May) – a good time for people to find ways to be adaptable and to “put heads together” to search for new pathways or find new solutions to problems. This is generally a very intense energy that can create situations where people have no choice but to work together to find solutions.

Currently this is coinciding with National Smile Day and with the WHO’s World No Tobacco Day. It is also Kyiv Day, marking that city’s founding 1,544 years ago.

Two cycles ago, in December of 2024, then 100-year old William Webster, the only man to have headed both the FBI and the CIA, urged the US Senate to reject Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard, the dumpster’s nominees for directors of those organizations, warning that Patel’s close political alignment with the dumpster “raises serious concerns about impartiality and integrity,” and “Gabbard’s profound lack of intelligence experience” would seriously jeopardize the ability of the US to safeguard sensitive secrets and collaborate internationally. His warning have proven to be correct.

On that same day Prof Geoffrey Hinton, the British-Canadian computer scientist often touted as a godfather” of artificial intelligence warned that the pace of change in AI technology is “much faster” than expected – with now a “10% to 20%” chance that AI would lead to human extinction within the next three decades. That was also the day when bitter in-fighting broke out between Elon Musk and the MAGA base after Dmp chose an Indian-born entrepreneur to be his AI policy adviser.

Significant events that have taken place in the past under this influence include:

• midterm election day in the U.S. five cycles ago
• Napoléon’s attempt to end his own life in 1814, after his abdication, rather than face a life in exile
• the Reichstag Fire Decree in 1933 that enabled Hitler’s regime to arrest and incarcerate political opponents without specific charges, dissolve political organizations, and suppress publications.
• the start of Kristallnacht (“Night of Broken Glass”), in 1938, when Nazis destroyed 7500 businesses, burned 267 synagogues, killed at least 91 Jews, and arrested over 25,000 Jewish men

 

Currently this is marking legendary actor/director/musician Clint Eastwood’s 96th Gregorian birthday. He has been a major force in Hollywood for decades, and a significant philanthropist over many years. Happy Birthday Clint!

13 Ok (Sept. 14th) associated with “transformational love”, “transformational guidance”, or “transformational fire”, this is an energy that holds the potential to be a real “scorcher”, marking 20 cycles since a massive solar flare erupted from the sun in 2012, one of the strongest ever recorded, and 16 cycles since the peak of a powerful X1.3-class solar flare in 2014 (that erupted the night before), which triggered temporary communications blackouts at the time of a Mercury Superior Conjunction.

Currently this is

• Pancasila Day, Indonesia’s national public holiday in recognition of the basic principles that underpin that country’s identity
• the beginning of National Indigenous History Month in Canada
• the start of LGBT Pride Month
• the start of National Gun Violence Awareness (Wear Orange) month in the US
• the opening day for The World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) 77th World News Media Congress in Marseille, France
• the official start of the Central North Pacific hurricane season and the Atlantic hurricane season

 

Note that this 13 Ok energy can manifest as the final big push away from “sacrifice and separation” towards greater freedom, creativity, and integration, as seen in the Treaty of Paris that ended the American Revolution in 1783. In 1814 this was the energy in place when the Treaty of Fontainebleau was ratified, when Napoléon Bonaparte abdicated his powers unconditionally. The former Emperor of the French “renounced for himself, his successors and descendants, all rights of sovereignty and domination in France and in Europe” and agreed to retreat into exile on the island of Elba.

This is English rock musician Ronnie Wood’s 79th Gregorian birthday, one day before what would have been the 85th birthday of drummer Charlie Watts, his Rolling Stones’ band-mate prior to Charlie’s passing in 2021. Ronnie and the rest of the Rolling Stones will be releasing their 25th album, Foreign Tongues, on July 10th.

This day completes the first half-cycle within the current 260-day period, and is an important marker point in the Maya calendar. The following day a new trecena will begin, associated with “creation” energies, marking the start of the Tzolk’in’s second half-cycle.
