Maya Count Of Days Horoscope

Maya Calendar Energies At Work In The World

Vaccinations, medicine, health care, healing – these are the things that are uppermost in people’s minds these days, pretty well everywhere on planet Earth, as the “storm” related trecena that we have just gone through brought a “tsunami” of new coronavirus cases worldwide, particularly in India.

Click here for the Podcast to accompany this trecena.

Enter the Aztec Goddess Mayahuel, who is often shown emerging from a maguey plant, ushering in the Eb’ trecena which is strongly aligned with revitalization and healing. And as it happens, her timing is exquisite, as this 13 day time frame that she is overseeing “happens” to encompass a variety of special days and special events that are all oriented around health, medicine, and service. The events include National Nursing Week, the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Mental Health Week, National Physicians’ Day in Canada, International Nurses Day, and International Firefighter’s Day.

Adaptation of the Eb’ trecena from the pre-Columbian Codex Borgia by artist Richard Balthazar (used with permission). The first day (One Eb’) is represented by the little jawbone with grass growing out of it, at the bottom right corner (within the border). Each of the remaining days proceed around the edge from there towards the left, ending with 13 K’an, depicted as a lizard, at the upper left corner. In the centre on the right is the Goddess Mayahuel, rising out of a maguey plant. She is the chief patron of this trecena. On the left is Xochipilli, associated with feasting and celebration, who is likely partaking in pulque in this image.

Traditionally the Eb’ trecena, with its emphasis on renewed vitality and fertility, was seen as an energy frame that has the potential to bring some sort of relief or change in direction. Often this is a period where people say “enough is enough” and start to really buckle down in their efforts to address specific problems. With Eb’ being a kind of “go with the flow” type of force that can open new pathways, a sense of rejuvenation and even “refreshment” can often be felt during this period as this is the type of force that represents new life springing forth just when it may have seemed like all has been lost.

This was certainly what happened one cycle ago (last August) when the world took a collective sigh of relief as Joe Biden accepted the nomination as the DNC’s candidate for the 46th president, and Kamala Harris joined him as his vice-presidential running mate. This happened right after the Senate Intelligence Committee released the final volume of its report on the Russia investigation, in which it essentially confirmed the key findings from the Mueller investigation on Russian interference in the 2016 US election. After four long years of rampage and devastation perpetuated by the dumpster (aka the “unhinged moron”) and his administration, finally there was a glimmer of hope. One cycle before that (in late 2019) the Eb’ trecena was the last full trecena that was in place before the dumpster was impeached for the second time by the US House of Representatives.

One of the finer points of note related to this trecena is that the symbolism works in more than one way. The maguey plant associated with the Goddess Mayahuel who serves as the overseer for this period, has many different uses. The sap from this plant not only has strong medicinal qualities, but can also be fermented and made into an alcoholic aphrodisiac called pulque, which is symbolic of the idea of “intoxification and excess” that is sometimes associated with this time frame. Sometimes the sense of new directions or possibilities can be so strong that things can get a little “heady”.

Traditionally this sense of revitalization was accompanied by celebrations and feasting at the start of this trecena, which is what many may feel like doing at this time as so many people are now lining up for immunization shots to protect themselves and others from the virus. However, as much as many may want to dance in the streets at this time caution is still advised as the case numbers are still way out of control in many, many areas.

Two cycles ago (late 2019) the very first day of this trecena brought a warning from environmental scientists that the world may already have crossed a series of climate tipping points, posing a risk that was referred to as “an existential threat to civilisation”. The EU parliament saw this as “an inflection point in history” and responded quickly by declaring a global “climate and environmental emergency” as it urged all EU countries to commit to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Then, close to the end of that same trecena at that time (Dec. 2019), one of the very first cases of coronavirus was detected in Wuhan, China. As we return to the energy that was in place at that time (Maya day 12 Ak’b’al, on May 11th this time through), the world will have been dealing with this for two full Tzolk’in cycles (260 days x 2). In December of 2019, 520 days ago as of May 11th, there was still ample opportunity to stop Covid-19 in its tracks, IF people had acted quickly. But that was not the case, and some world leaders actually played it down or tried to ignore it, and so it opened up its own pathways and over three million people globally have since lost their lives because of it.

Sometimes the nature (or flavour) of the revitalization is evident right from the start of this trecena, as happened six cycles ago when millions of people raised their voices to make known their objections to the results of the 2016 U.S. election during the historic Women’s March that took place in hundreds of cities across the U.S. and in some 673 cities around the world, on all seven continents.  At that time millions stood in solidarity to support equal rights and humanitarian principles worldwide.

Three cycles ago (in early 2019) this trecena brought forth the Global Climate Strike, known as Youth Strike 4 Climate, which was a coordinated global school walkout involving an estimated 1.4 million young people in 2233 cities in 128 countries, in a massive effort to call for political action regarding climate change. That opened up a pathway for action that continued on for most of the year, picking up steam throughout the entire cycle as hundreds of thousands of students and their allies continued the fight for climate change action. One cycle after that strike, near the end of that year, more than 500,000 young people were rallying in Madrid to protest against the lack of speed and lack of progress being taken by world governments in tackling the climate emergency. And then Covid appeared . . .

This time it seems that the emphasis during this period will be on healing, from multiple perspectives. As noted above, there are many special days coming in at this time that will focus on health care workers and various related fields. In addition, people are now stepping up and taking much greater responsibility for their own personal safety and for that of others as vaccination programs ramp up. And in some areas people have no choice but to pitch in and help with the overwhelming needs associated with this global pandemic. Greater cooperation is being shown between nations as this progresses, and world leaders are also stepping up to recommit to climate change imperatives.

And in the US, just two days before this trecena began, President Biden gave his historic first address to a joint session of Congress, where he declared that “America is rising anew . . . America is ready for takeoff. We are working again – Dreaming again – Discovering again – Leading the world again” as he presented a comprehensive overview of major revitalization proposals pertaining to the US economy, health care, job creation, reconstruction, and even research and development, which represents a welcome and refreshing change from the horrors of the past few devastating years.

So it looks like this Eb’ trecena, at this time, will again be ramping up its strong generative powers, and presenting opportunities for many new avenues to open up. There is always that potential for “excess” that suggests the need to maintain caution as we forge ahead, but it seems that this period still holds the potential for many new possibilities to open up through this resurgence of vitality. Here are the energies that will come into play:

1 Eb’ (April 30th) – the “initiation” of “animating vitality”, a refreshing stream-of-consciousness, “find your own path” type of force, which often signals the start of promising new directions. With inauguration day included in the count, this day marks Joe Biden’s 101st day as president, as he was inaugurated on a 5 Eb’ day, 100 days earlier. Today’s One Eb’ is the same energy influence as was in place in 1789 when George Washington was unanimously elected president.

This would have been the 101st Gregorian birthday of Captain Sir Thomas Moore, the former British soldier who raised over £32 million in aid of NHS Charities Together to help fight the pandemic, by walking the 25 metres around his garden in Bedfordshire, central England 100 times before his 100th birthday, even though he had to use a walker to do it. Although he died from covid earlier this year, he did reach his 100th birthday and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth for his
fundraising efforts.

This is also National Arbor Day in the US – a day dedicated to trees. This is the 46th Gregorian anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.

May 1st is Global Love Day (among other things), a great time to to remember that we are all one on this planet.
This day is in recognition of that oneness, and a celebration of universal love and compassion.

2 B’en (May 1st) – a dynamic type of energy aligned with the “generation” of personal authority, coinciding at this time with May Day and International Workers’ Day, known in many countries as Labour Day, which has been celebrated on May 1st since 1886, when hundreds of thousands of American trade union workers took to the streets to demand the universal adoption of the 8 hr. work day.

This is also World Labyrinth Day and Global Love Day, a celebration of unconditional love and compassion, which is so greatly needed at this time.  In addition, this is National Physicians’ Day in Canada, (annual) a good day to give thanks for the extraordinary work being done across the country by health care professionals as they continue with the battle against the pandemic.

It has been two cycles exactly since the EU parliament declared a global “climate and environmental emergency” after environmental scientists warned (on One Eb’ in late November, 2019) that the world may already have crossed a series of climate tipping points, posing a risk that is “an existential threat to civilisation”. That was when the EU parliament urged all EU countries to commit to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

3 Ix (May 2nd) –the “activation” of transformation, on International Harry Potter Day (the 23rd anniversary of the fictitional Battle of Hogwarts when Harry defeated the Dark Lord). In real world history this is the 76th Gregorian anniversary of the day in 1945 when the German surrender in Italy came into effect.

At this point it has been two cycles since hundreds of thousands of young people took to the streets in 2300 cities in 143 countries in November, 2019 for the #FridaysforFuture climate action demonstrations three days before the opening of the COP25 summit.

4 Men (May 3rd) – a “defining” energy related to the “high vision” of the Eagle; a double solar “Burner Day” associated with “running with the fire”, an energy that can sometimes bring a great deal of “firepower”, on the first day of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Mental Health Week.

Mental Health Week begins on Maya Day 4 Men (May 3rd)

This 4 Men 13 Wo day marks two Calendar Rounds (2 x 52 years) precisely since the birth of former US president John F. Kennedy on 4 Men 13 Wo in 1917.

This day marks three Tzolk’in cycles since the Youth Strike 4 Climate, a coordinated global school walkout that involved an estimated 1.4 million young people in 2233 cities in 128 countries, in a coordinated global effort to call for political action regarding climate change, in March of 2019. Note that this was the precursor to the massive #FridaysforFuture demonstrations that took place almost exactly one cycle later (see 3 Ix, above).

5 Kib’ (May 4th) – a “blessing” or “precision” type of energy associated with the “Vulture’s” high-flying ability to survey and its ability to “clean things up”, – the same energy influence as was in place at the time of the inauguration of President Abraham Lincoln. It has been two cycles since Ursula von der Leyen took over as head of the European Commission, the EU’s top position.

Currently this is the UN’s offical International Anti-Bullying Day (although many celebrate this in February), and International Firefighter’s Day, a day to reflect on the dedication given by firefighters to the protection of life and property and to remember the ultimate sacrifices that many have made in the interest of helping and protecting others. It is also “Star Wars Day” (“May the Fourth be With You”), at the peak of the Eta Aquarids meteor shower.

International Firefighters Day is on May 4th

This is Pablo Picasso’s Maya birth energy, whose 140th Gregorian birthday will be marked in October.

6 Kab’an (May 5th) – a “movement (or earth movement, even “evolutionary movement”) type of energy combined with the “all directions” force of the number six, coinciding at this time with Mexico’s Cinco de Mayo, National Astronaut Day in the US, and the 76th Gregorian anniversary of the surrender in 1945 of German forces in NW Germany, Bavaria, Denmark and the Netherlands, ending the war in those regions. Two cycles since the opening of COP25, the 25th session of the Climate Change Conference in Madrid in 2019.

The Global Giving organization was founded under this energy influence in 2002.

It has been four cycles since the massive 2018 “Families Belong Together” protest rallies across in the US against the dumpster administration’s abominable child separation immigration policy and its treatment of children and women.

As of this day it has been one cycle since the Senate Intelligence Committee released the 5th and final volume of its report on the Russia investigation, in which it laid out “a stunning web of contacts” between the dumpster, his top election aides and Russian government officials, in the months leading up to the 2016 election, largely supporting the key findings from the Mueller investigation on Russian interference in the 2016 US election.

7 Etz’nab’ (May 6th) –“self-generating flint” – a “knife-edge” type of energy associated with the power of discrimination, coinciding at this time with National School Nurse Day in the U.S. and with World Password Day, providing the reminder of the critical need to protect passwords.

This is an important energy in Vice-President Kamala Harris’s life as she dropped out the presidential race when this was in place in Dec. 2019, but when this energy returned in the summer of 2020 she was in a position to officially accept the nomination as the Democratic vice-presidential candidate. Currently she is making news through the progress she is making on helping to strengthen cooperation between the US and Central American countries to better manage the steep increase in migration at the U.S. southern border.

Historically this has been a particularly potent mid-trecena marker point, as could be seen six cycles ago (in early 2017) when dumpster’s new administration imposed a travel ban against seven Muslim nations that not only started a backlash across the U.S. but also triggered lawsuits and protests around the world. Four painful, hair-raising cycles later (in December, 2019) this energy was in place again when the US House Intelligence Committee released (and voted to pass) the 300-pg. impeachment report, with its conclusion that there is “overwhelming evidence” that the dumpster abused the power of the presidency and obstructed Congress, and that his White House officals and associates knew of the Ukraine scheme. He was impeached by the House of Representatives shortly thereafter.

Currently it has been one cycle since Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny was unconscious in hospital after allegedly being poisoned with a toxic substance. At that time he was reportedly in “serious condition” and on a ventilator. Navalny was reported to be returning to Moscow by plane from Tomsk in Siberia when he began to feel ill. At the time he was continuing with his campaign against Putin. After he recovered from hospital he was jailed, and then went on a 24-day hunger strike, which recently ended. With his opposition organization now being dismantled by the government, and his health in a poor state, this energy (and this trecena) could once again play an important role in what happens next in this regard.

8 Kawak (May 7th) – “resurrecting storm”, sometimes associated with strong weather or some strong “push” towards enlightenment

This was the energy in place on the final day of the Democratic National Convention last summer, when Joe Biden accepted the nomination as the DNC’s candidate for president, as he vowed to protect the US. Right away more than 70 former national security officials from multiple Republican administrations along with former Republican members of Congress announced that they would support Joe Biden.

Currently this is the 76th Gregorian anniversary of the final signing of the unconditional documents of surrender of the German forces to the Allies in Reims, ending the war in 1945.

9 Ajaw (May 8th) – an “outwardly projecting”, double-fire type of force associated with the full sun and “enlightenment”, coinciding at this time with World Fair Trade Day, National Student Nurses Day (US), and World Migratory Bird Day, the first of two this year, with this year’s theme being “Sing, Fly, Soar – Like a Bird!”

This is the 76th Gregorian anniversary of VE Day (the frenzied, chaotic celebrations at the end of WWII, including the end of the Battle of the Atlantic, which was Canada’s longest military engagement). It has been five cycles since the start of the Me Too Movement.

10 Imix (May 9th) – a “source” based energy aligned with birth, coinciding at this time with International Mother’s Day  and the final day of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Mental Health Week.

Mother’s Day this year coincides with 10 Imix, aligned with the energy of birth

In Moscow this is the day when the Moscow Victory Day Parade takes place in Red Square, commemorating the end of World War II. The EU will be celebrating Europe Day at this time, the 71st Gregorian anniversary of the day in 1950 when French foreign minister Robert Schuman presented his proposal for the creation of an organized Europe (known as the “Schuman Declaration”), the precursor to the European Union.

One cycle since Earth Overshoot Day 2020, which was last Aug. 22nd; that was the day that marked the point last year where humanity’s demand for ecological resources exceeded what Earth can generate in that year. There is now a strong push to move the day.

11 Ik’ (May 10th) – “inspirational” wind/breath/spirit; the energy that was in place on January 1, 2000 when millions of people celebrated the coming new millennium. Currently this energy coincides with the start of the Canadian Nursing Association’s National Nursing Week, with this year’s theme being #WeAnswerTheCall.

As of this day it has been six cycles (1560 days) since Jan. 2017 when John Dean, former White House counsel under President Nixon, warned that the dumpster was “just getting started” on “trashing the presidency”. At that time Dean predicted that it would all “end in calamity. Even Republicans know this.” How very, very correct he was!

It has now been been three cycles since Special Counsel Robert Mueller completed his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and submitted his report to the DoJ. During this investigation there were 37 indictments in 22 months (including 13 Russian nationals, 3 Russian companies, and 12 Russian intelligence officers), with a number of convictions, guilty pleas and sentences.

12 Ak’b’al (May 11th) a “grouping together” type of energy associated with darkness and deep mysteries, as was in place at the time of the 2004 Sumatra tsunami and again in 2011 when the ash cloud from the Grimsvötn volcano grounded about 500 flights in the U.K. Currently this coincides with the New Moon.  *It has now been two cycles (520 grueling days) exactly since 12 Ak’b’al on Dec. 8, 2019 when one of the first cases of coronavirus were detected in Wuhan, China.

13 K’an (May 12th) – transformational “generative vitality”; a powerfully exuberant force that can instigate a great deal of action on many fronts, coinciding at this time with International Nurses Day with the 2021 theme being Nurses: A Voice to Lead – A vision for future healthcare, with the focus being on looking towards the future of nursing, towards how the profession will evolve into the next stage of healthcare. This marks Florence Nightingale’s 201st Gregorian birthday.

International Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12th every year, on the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.

This day marks three Calendar Rounds (3 x 52 years) since African American Emancipation Day, the announcement in Texas of the abolition of slavery in the US on June 19th in 1865, now celebrated as Juneteenth.

This evening coincides with the beginning of Eid al-Fitr (the festival of breaking the fast), marking the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

It has been two cycles exactly since the release (in December of 2019) of the US Inspector-General’s report that validated that the FBI’s investigation relating to the origins of the Russia investigation was sound, “in compliance with Department and FBI policies”, and that it was not a “hoax” or a “witch hunt”.

In 1960 this was the Maya Calendar energy that was in place when John F. Kennedy won the election to become the 35th President of the US.
