These days there is a definite sense that the “lunacy” factor in high level government actions has somehow clicked into high gear (particularly in the US) and no one knows how to locate the “off” switch. Indeed, the trecena that has just concluded shed a great deal of light on just how outrageous and dangerous that lunacy has become. And now, as the energies of this highly creative Monkey trecena begin weaving together the trajectory for the next 130 days, this 13-day period will provide a classic illustration of how trecenas often build into a crescendo before dissipating.

As this trecena begins we are half-way through the current 260 day Tzolk’in cycle that began in late January. The first day of this period is the mid-point, the central “pivot point”, within the 260 day cycle that runs from 1 Imix-to-13 Ajaw, a point where new directions often begin unfolding. The last time this Chuwen trecena was in place (during the second half of September), the dumpster’s ludicrous and disruptive visit to the UK took place, as protestors projected huge images of the Trump and Prince Andrew with sex offender Epstein onto the towers of Windsor Castle, complete with headlines about Epstein being charged with sex trafficking. That was when the UK’s Channel 4 broadcasted “Trump v The Truth” – a dissection of 100 of the dumpster’s inaccuracies. That was immediately followed by his disgraceful speech during the UN general debates in New York, and then topped off (on the trecena’s final day) with an order to send “full force” troops to . . . Oregon. Huh?

One cycle earlier the U.S. was bidding adieu to former President Jimmy Carter, President Biden was completing his final full trecena in office, and the US justice system was frantically rearranging itself in anticipation of the change in command. It was a highly unstable period, with investigations shutting down and people jockeying for positions in the dumpster’s forthcoming new cabinet, like monkeys scuttling about, vying for the best position in a new tree. The world at large was trying to recover from the shock of the 2024 elections in the US, whereby a slippery convicted felon managed to evade justice (on multiple counts) and become the president-elect for a second term. At that time many bizarre and dangerous proposals were being floated, and the road ahead looked murky, to say the least.

And now, two cycles later, the lunacy has augmented to a point when the entire East Wing of the White House has been literally reduced to rubble (without the permission of Congress), and a gigantic, $60 million, 90-foot monstrosity, which dwarfs the White House, is being built on the White House lawn to showcase a UFC cage fight on the dumpster’s 80th birthday. The situation has gone from dumb – to dumber – to surreal – to just plain wacky and tacky. Could anything possibly be LESS presidential, less dignified, less worthy of taxpayer expense, less worthy of respect than THIS???

Over the past 520 days “democracy” in the US has morphed into “idiocracy”, and people have truly had enough. The stage is set for a trecena that will go down in the record books as one of the weirdest, most bizarre, periods in US history. Keep in mind, as well, that way back in 64AD this was the energy in place when Rome was in flames and the emperor Nero was reportedly “fiddling” as he watched it burn. So here we go . . . .

The first day of this period is One Chuwen, the Day of the Monkey. You might think of this as a day governed by a playful, inventive, agile, and capricious Monkey deity who sits at the centre of the Tree of Life and weaves together the threads of creation, and time, as he orchestrates the proliferation of life. This key mid-point within the cycle marks the beginning of the mythological “Creation” sequence of events in deep mythology, when the world itself was brought into being and all things of heaven and earth were made.

This tends to be a highly creative time frame, where almost anything is possible. At times it can be highly play oriented, but the potential exists for a certain amount of “reckless abandon” (tied in with the pulque connection to the principal patron of this 13 day period). Certainly that seemed to be the case in January of 2020, during the dumpster’s first term, as the coronavirus was beginning to make its presence known during this period. That was when this creation sequence of days began to call on everyone to think and act differently. It was the beginning of a global regrouping, but since then things have spun completely out of control.

Historically this has been seen as a very special time frame that encompasses the kinds of extraordinary powers that are able to weave together the threads of time itself. For instance, think back to June of 2021 (7 cycles ago), when world leaders met for the G7 summit in Cornwall, England – when President Joe Biden announced that “The US is back and democracies are standing together”. It was the start of the rebuilding of positive international relationships, and there was a sense of positive regrouping and even “healing” at that time, in keeping with the nature of Patecatl, the Aztec God of Medicine who was seen as the principal patron of this period. During that period a number of criminal indictments were brought against the Trump Organization, which eventually led to a major fraud trial and conviction that resulted in a $454 million judgment against him early in 2024, and the sentencing of his CFO to more jail time.

In ancient Mesoamerican mythology, this was seen as the energy sequence that magically created the winal (the 20-day cycle that is a fundamental part of the 260-day Tzolk’in), so it is associated with great artistry and ingenuity.

Patecatl, the traditional patron deity for this time frame, was associated with pulque, which was seen as both medicine and as an intoxicant. While the idea of “healing through creativity” is an important aspect of this time frame, there is also a caution, as the intoxicant aspect could also precipitate a certain amount of “monkey business”. Without question this intoxicant aspect is already running amuck at the White House, and it will be “on steroids” during this current period. But, the “healing through creativity” aspects are already gearing up for a massive No Kings counter-measure as a coalition of artists and millions of others prepare for concerts and civic actions to push back against the lunacy unfolding in Washington.

Note that the first day of this time frame was seen in mythology as One Chuwen (One Monkey), the day when the Creator “raised himself to his divinity after he had made heaven and earth”. This is followed by Two Eb’, when, mythologically, the first “stairway” was created that descended from the heavens, followed by three more days (3 B’en through to 5 Men), when more of the “other things” of the heavens, the seas, and the earth were made.

Three B’en was the energy in place in 1933 when Franklin D. Roosevelt was inaugurated as the 32nd President of the U.S. His “New Deal” policies greatly helped to pull that country out of the Great Depression. Similarly, when this was in place at the time of that G7 summit in 2021, President Biden called that day “an inflection point in history” as he and Prime Minister Boris Johnson signed a New Atlantic Charter. In April of 2024, three cycles ago, this brought the start of the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president, and two cycles ago it was in place on the final day of 2024, prior to the start of Dumpter 2.0. But note, as well, that it was the fifth day of this time frame when the opening shots of the U.S. civil war were fired in 1861.

The sixth day of this sequence, known as Six Kib’, is the point where the “first light” came into being during the Maya creation sequence. In April of 2019, that was what happened when Joe Biden announced his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election under this influence, but then, in keeping with the “echoing” effect of these energies, exactly five cycles later, in November of 2022, the dumpster announced his new bid for the presidency. At that time that was seen as a gamble, and a bid to avoid federal criminal indictments or even incarceration, because he was in the midst of multiple criminal probes, which eventually did result in multiple indictments.

Then, after 3 cycles (780 days) of vulgar, non-stop, lie-spewn, court-bashing campaigning all in the interest of avoiding prosecution, he arrived back at the cusp of a return to the presidency, even outlasting multiple indictments and several convictions. Jack Smith, the Special Counsel appointed to lead various investigations into federal crimes associated with the insurrection and the classified documents cases, was required to step down on the final day of this period, since those prosecutions could not move forward. It was all very, very bizarre.

The seventh day, Seven Kab’an, was thought of as the day when honey was first created. Translating as “self-generating movement”, this is an Earth-oriented energy that often can be highly action-oriented and even “earth-shaking”, as it was in 2023 when the dumpster was arraigned in a magistrate’s court in Washington DC, two days after his indictment by a federal grand jury on charges associated with his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. One cycle after all that, in 2024, he was in the midst of his first criminal trial.

If you happen to be in Barcelona on the ninth day of this period you may be able to experience a once-in-a-lifetime event – the offical opening of one of the most extraordinary structures ever created – the Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction since 1882. This mind-boggling structure has got to be one of the most creative buildings every conceived, and is the exact opposite of the sterile, rigid, souless edifices that pass themselves off as architecture these days.

The 10 Ajaw Burner Day that comes in on June 11th tends to be an intense and consequential energy traditionally oriented around the idea of “taking the fire”, in conjunction with the force of Ajaw’s “full sun”. Nine cycles ago, in January of 2020, this was the energy in place when the Russian government resigned after Putin put forward “an entire package of proposed amendments” to Russia’s constitution that would enable him to extend his hold on power. And we all know what has happened since then! When this comes into place this time, this energy will mark six cycles since Russian forces captured Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine. And even now that war continues to rage. At this time this day will bring the start of the FIFA World Cup soccer championships, which will set the world ablaze with “soccer fever” as Mexico City hosts a star-studded opening celebration that will feature indigenous talent, folkloric performances, and many others. The following day similar opening celebrations will be held in Canada (in Toronto) and in the US (in Los Angeles). As the FIFA website notes, this “will launch a historic summer of football across the nation driven by culture, energy and the unifying power of the game”.

In deep mythology the day known as Twelve Ik’ was seen as the day in which the breath of life was created. This is a “collecting together” type of force associated with Wind, Breath, and Spirit, which can be strongly aligned with communication. Five cycles ago, when this was in place, Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy delivered an extraordinary address during which he praised the defiance and determination of the Ukrainian people and said: “We can be left without money. Without gasoline. Without hot water. Without light. But not without freedom. . . . We will hold out. We will endure.”

Thirteen Ak’b’al (“transformational temple or house”), the final day of the trecena, is referred to in the Maya creation legend as the calendrical energy that brought forth the creation of the first humans. Another very high-powered force, this is an energy that can be highly consequential in terms of the fate of the human race as a whole. In April of 2019 this was the energy in place when what was termed “the worst constitutional crisis since the civil war” unfolded in Washington, tied in with the stonewalling and obstruction of justice on the part of the Trump White House in response to the release of the Mueller report (to do with Russian interference in the 2016 election). One cycle after that, in January of 2020, the dumpster’s first impeachment trial got underway under this influence. One cycle after that the dumpster was in hospital with Covid, with CNN commenting that this situation was symbolic of “own administration’s failure in its pandemic response”. One cycle after that a New York judge scheduled a trial date related to Trump’s New York civil case, related to his company’s “staggering” fraud. One cycle later (in 2023) the news was all about how he had destroyed the Republican party.

In 2024 this energy brought forth the Supreme Court’s granting of presidential “immunity’ for a variety of so-called “official” acts. That was also the day when a federal judge upheld the verdict in E. Jean Carroll’s civil defamation case against Trump after he called her a liar for accusing him of sexually assaulting her. She was awarded more than $83m after the dumpster’s motion for a new trial was denied and the judge affirmed that Carroll had suffered harm. Since then this ruling has also been confirmed by a court of appeals.

Then, a mere two cycles ago, Trump was sentenced in the hush money trial, after being found guilty on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records related to the hush money case, even though he avoided being sent to prison since he was about to assume the presidency.

The last time this trecena was in place (last fall) questions about the legality of the tariff issue were exploding after a US appeals court ruled that Trump far exceeded his power with regard to imposing tariffs on other countries. And then, as several other high level courts ruled against various other actions, many people in his cabinet were being called out for their incompetencies. By then he was being seen as a dangerous “weakling” when it came to key international issues associated with the likes of Russia, China, Israel, and Venezuela; and the whole sordid mess associated with the Epstein files started to explode. That “dangerous weakling” perception then continued to expand, particularly with regard to his use of force against Iran and his threats relating to other countries.

So now here we are – the US economy is in a shambles; the country is in a statemate war with Iran, which is severely affecting the global economy; another deadly virus is threatening, as a result of his elimination of the highly beneficial USAID program in Africa; more than 60,000 generally innocent people (of all ages) are being held in reportedly appalling conditions in ICE detention camps (or being deported outright); much of the Epstein material is still being withheld by a Justice department that is rapidly “crumbling”, at the same time as the “first family” is making millions (billions?) from blatant grift and illegal money-making schemes; and the White House itself has been turned into a half-demolished circus. And on and on . . . .

As has happened so often in the past, it is entirely possible that there will be echoes, as we go through this period, from earlier trends and events, although at this time it is looking like the emphasis will be on play (as in FIFA soccer related activities), and all the lead-up preparations for the dueling events on the final day.

In France at this time the D-Day festival that began on May 30th continues, with a large number of events, ceremonies, and historic reenactments to mark the 82nd anniversary of the Allied landings on the beaches of Normandy, in the largest land, sea, and air operation ever undertaken. This commemorative festival includes parachute drops in period attire, historical reenactments, parades, concerts, an air show, and exhibitions such as the “Standing with Giants” installation includes 1,475 silhouettes on a wild meadow to represent the number of British servicemen who died on D-Day itself.

Keep in mind, as we work through this time period, that this is a trecena that often challenges people to think differently, to push forward into new, and even unorthodox, directions. Most assuredly this will be happening as millions continue pushing back against that clown-filled circus in Washington.

This is prime time to get involved in creative actions. It will not only make you feel good, but it will also help to bring joy back to a world that has been dark for much too long. Here are the energies that will come into play:

1 Chuwen (June 2n) – the Maya Day of the Monkey, an “initiating” day associated with Artistry and High Creativity at the beginning of an important new time sequence.

This return of the “creation” sequence in the Tzolk’in (Sacred Count of Days), is coinciding with congressional, state, and gubernatorial primary elections in a number of US states. California could be somewhat of a nailbiter as there are a number of Republican contenders, one of which is a former Fox News host, in this state that has been traditionally a stronghold for Democrats. As this is an “anything can happen” kind of situation, with lots of “monkey-business” taking place, this will be a close one to watch.

Currently this day marks 14 cycles since it was reported that Russian government operatives had hacked into the DNC in the US in June of 2016, precipitating the Wikileaks release of confidential documents shortly thereafter, which, in turn, triggered the disastrous upset for Hillary Clinton (and the world) during that November’s presidential election.

While some important historical endings have occurred under this One Chuwen influence, as in the official end of the U.S. Civil War in 1866, and the ending of the Orange Revolution in Ukraine in January of 2005, more often it marks beginnings – as seen six cycles ago (February 2022) when Russian lawmakers authorized Putin to use military force outside of Russia, on the eve of his assault on Ukraine, at the same time as a state of emergency was declared in Ukraine. On that day there was a rare moment of unity in the U.S. as lawmakers issued a bipartisan statement in which they pledged to put together an emergency aid package in the face of Putin’s further escalation of hostilities. The dumpster, however, was busy praising Putin.

Three cycles ago (in April of 2024) more than 300 cruise and ballistic missiles and drones were launched in a retaliatory attack against Israel, with attacks launched from Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, with Iran seen as the centre of an “Axis of Resistance” against Israel. Dozens of rockets were also launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel. But now Israel is aggressively attacking Lebanon, as well as Gaza – disregarding the so-called ceasefire, and the whole of the Middle East is being held hostage by the US-Iran stalemate. Way back in 64AD this energy was in place on one of the days when Rome was in flames (and Nero was reportedly “fiddling”).

One cycle ago this was the energy in place when late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel made a quip about his observation of Republicans scrambling to distance themselves from the ideologies associated with the Kirk assassination, for which Jimmy was taken off the air for several days.

This is former US President Ronald Reagan’s Maya birth energy, and the energy that was in place two cycles ago at the time of the passing of President Jimmy Carter, at age 100. It was Reagan who succeeded Carter as president, on Jan. 20th, 1981, after narrowly winning the election.

2 Eb’ (June 3rd) – “dynamic animating vitality”, in Maya mythology the energy that was in place when the first “stairway” was formed that descended from the heavens “when the world was being created”. This is an energy that can trigger a healing process, as it did in 2022 when the UK lifted almost all Covid restrictions, after implementing an extensive vaccination program.

In March of 1965 this was the energy in place when President Lyndon B. Johnson gave his historic “We Shall Overcome” speech, when he addressed a joint session of Congress and presented a strong argument for the passage of a Voting Rights Act that would allow African Americans to vote. In that speech he officially recognized the Civil Rights movement and ruled that the Civil Rights march from Selma to Montgomery could legally take place.

When this 2 Eb’energy was in place in the spring of 2019 then-actor/director/comedian Volodymyr Zelenskyy won the presidential election in Ukraine by a landslide (over 70% of the vote), defeating President Poroshenko. Exactly 4 cycles later, on Feb. 24, 2022, Russia launched that massive attack against Ukraine.

Currently this is the opening day for the 28th Annual Elvis Festival in Tupelo, Mississippi, the home of his birth.

It is also the opening day for the biennial Celebration 2026 festival, the largest cultural event in Alaska, first held in 1982. This is a highly festive event that brings together Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian clans in a four day celebration of traditional song, dance, visual arts, foods, and languages, with over 1,800 dancers from 34 dance groups participating. This year’s theme is “Endurance and Strength: The Power of the Clan House”.

Three cycles ago (in April of 2024) an agreement was reached that paved the way for the Haida Nation in B.C. to retain aboriginal title over more than 200 islands off Canada’s west coast.

3 B’en (June 4th) the “activation” of personal authority, coinciding at this time with the opening of the three-day Global Summit of Women, “the premier business and economic forum for woman globally”, in Istanbul, Türkiye.

As this is the day when Russian activist Alexei Navalny would have celebrated his 50th birthday, there will be many, many, many people who will be remembering him at this time.

In 1933 this was the energy in place at the time of the first inauguration of Franklin D. Roosevelt as the 32nd U.S. President, during which he uttered the immortal words: “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself–nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance”.

In 2020 this was the energy in place when the beloved human rights advocate and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg lay in repose at the US Supreme Court so that members of the public could pay their respects. Doubtless, she would be appalled by the current state of that court.

This is the Maya birth energy of soon-to-be (as of Oct. 7th) 100 year old civil rights activist Opal Lee, known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth”, who fought so long and hard to make Juneteenth a federally-recognized holiday in the U.S. President Biden signed the Juneteenth bill into law on the tenth day of this time frame in 2021.

This is also marking three 260-day cycles exactly since the start of the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president, with jury selection (in April of 2024), after the dumpster had made multiple attempts to get it delayed. This was the hush money trial, related to falsifying business records as part of a scheme to suppress damaging stories about him during the 2016 campaign. It was to be the first of Trump’s four criminal trials slated to take place during 2024, but others (including the Jan. 6th case related to the coup attempt, and the classified documents case relating to his hoarding of classified government documents) got siderailed. He was ultimately declared Guilty on all 34 counts in the hush money trial, marking the first time that a former U.S. president was convicted on criminal charges. His sentencing was delayed, and the payments that he was required to make after being found guilty in various civil cases were hung up in the appeal process. Unfathomably, the last time this was in place that convicted felon was jauntily visiting Windsor Castle in the UK, as a guest of King Charles III, complete with traditional state banquet. For shame, Charlie!

This is also the 37th anniversary of the bloody Tiananmen Square massacre in China that was the culmination of weeks of student-led, anti-government corruption demonstrations. However, public acknowledgment of the events of June 4th, 1989, when Chinese soldiers shut down a weeks-long peaceful protest with violence, killing anywhere from several hundred to several thousand people, was banned in mainland China.

4 Ix (June 5th) –a “defining” energy associated with the jaguar and the mysteries of the earth, one of the four energies at the centre of the Aztec Sun Stone. In ancient Mesoamerican mythology this was seen as a powerful force, known to the Aztec as Nahui Ocelotl, associated with Tezcatlipoca, one of the original creator forces. Because this represents an amalgamation of solar and jaguar energies, it was seen as a Jaguar Sun, aka a Night Sun, aligned with the creation of the Aztec First Sun (era), which was seen as lasting for 676 years. Currently this powerful force, symbolic of Earth-related “transformation”, is marking six cycles since worldwide anti-Putin protests, when iconic landmarks (monuments and buildings) were lit up in blue and yellow, the colours of Ukraine’s flag, in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and freedom. And yet – that war, with all its atrocities, is still raging!

This is World Environment Day, an important day for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment, hosted this year by Azerbaijan. This year’s theme is focusing on “A Global Call for Climate Action”.  This is the day when Earth Overshoot Day 2026 will be announced – the day when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services for the year will exceed what Earth could regenerate in that year. Last year Qatar hit this point on Feb. 6th and the U.S. hit this point on March 13th.

This is the day when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit will hold a hearing to review the legal battle aurrounding the construction of a $400 million (or more) White House State ballroom (which Senator Ossoff recently referred to as the “Epstein Memorial Ballroom”), related to a lawsuit spearheaded by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which is seeking to permanently halt the project.

This is also the 12th National Gun Violence Awareness Day in the U.S., dedicated to honouring the lives of Americans affected by gun violence. Clearly this is needed as nearly 50,000 lives are lost annually in the US alone due to gun violence. This is the first day of Wear Orange Weekend in the US, related to this cause.

5 Men (June 6th) – a “targeting” or precision-oriented type of energy associated with the Eagle’s “higher vision”, marking four cycles exactly since a federal grand jury charged the dumpster with four counts associated with his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Although he was given an unconditional discharge, appallingly without a custodial sentence, because he “won” the last election, his conviction remains on record.

This is potentially a “hang onto your hat” kind of day, as this was the energy in place in early April in 1861 when the opening shots that started the “main events” of the American Civil War took place at Fort Sumpter. Given the current state of the US, and the state of affairs with regard to such things as those deplorable ICE detention centers, US government aggression against Iran and other countries, the incredibly incompetent state of the country’s administration, and even the revoltingly tacky event currently being set up on the White House lawn (see last day of this trecena), that country has become a powder keg once again, so this is a good time to stay alert!

This is the most significant day of the D-Day festival that is underway in France during this period, marking the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy on June 6th, 1944. This important festival is held to commemorate and honour the thousands of young men from fifteen different nations (more than 150,000 Allied soldiers, including 23,000 paratroopers) who landed on the beaches of Normandy on that June day, at the beginning of a huge push to liberate France from the Nazis. Some 12,000 men were killed, wounded or taken prisoner over three months of battles to liberate Normandy, before moving on to liberate Paris and the rest of Europe.

At this time this is also Canada’s fourth National Day Against Gun Violence and Canada’s National Horse Day.

Note that in 1958 this was the energy in place when the first women took their seats in the House of Lords in the UK. In 2020, this was in place when Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a passionate advocate for women’s rights and civil liberties, became the first woman to lie in state in National Statuary Hall at the US Capitol, in a tribute reserved for the most distinguished government officials and military officers.

6 Kib’ (June 7th) – a “stabilizing” type of energy that can force one to “think differently”, but sometimes triggers some kind of chaos that ultimately leads towards a “restoration of order”. This is the energy that brought in the “first light” during the creation sequence in Maya mythology. In 2019 this was in place when Joe Biden announced his candidacy for the presidency in April of that year.

This is the Maya calendrical energy that was in place in April of 1814 when Napoléon Bonaparte gave his farewell address to the Old Guard in the courtyard at Fontainbleau after his failed invasion of Russia and defeat by the Allies, and his abdication of the throne two weeks earlier. He was then sent into exile.

Currently this is Canadian Armed Forces Day, Native American Day in Arizona, and the day for the 79h annual Tony Awards, to recognize achievements in Broadway productions during the 2025-2026 season. This would have been music legend Prince’s 68th Gregorian birthday.

7 Kab’an (June 8th) – “self-generating movement”, coinciding at this time with a Jupiter-Venus conjunction (+ next day) and the UN’s World Ocean Day, with this year’s theme being “Sustainable Fishing Means More”. This is a global day to focus attention on stewardship and the need to conserve marine resources for future generations.

In the past, this energy has accompanied a great deal of Earth-oriented action and movement, now marking four cycles since Trump was arrested and arraigned in a magistrate’s court in Washington DC, on four charges relating to the Jan. 6th insurrection case, associated with his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, with those charges being: conspiracy to defraud the United States “by using dishonesty, fraud and deceit to obstruct the nation’s process of collecting, counting, and certifying the results of the presidential election”; conspiracy to impede the Jan. 6 congressional proceeding; conspiracy against the right to vote and to have that vote counted; and obstruction of, and attempt to obstruct and impede, the certification of the electoral vote. Although the case was dismissed “without prejudice”, after the dumpster won the 2024 election, apparently the case can be filed again after he leaves office, which could be one of the key reasons why he has been fighting tooth-and-nail to stay in office.

This is also marking three cycles since the completion of the jury selection process in the hush money trial. That was the day when the G7 powers pledged to bolster Ukraine’s air defences to counter increasingly deadly Russian attacks.

In the Maya mythological creation sequence, 7 Kab’an was seen as the day when honey was first created. And indeed, it was a “honey of a day” two cycles ago when President Joe Biden bestowed Presidential Medals of Freedom on 19 prominent Americans who had made significant contributions in politics, sports, entertainment, civil rights, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and science. He also awarded the second highest civilian medal to Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson, leaders of the congressional investigation into the 2021 Capitol riots.

8 Etz’nab’ (June 9th) – the “resurrection of flint” – a “knife-edged” type of energy that often can be quite divisive or decisive, but also quite dazzling or attention-getting, coinciding at this time with a continuation of the Venus-Jupiter conjunction, with Mercury close by.

This is the opening day for the SBC Summit Americas, that “connects worlds through gaming”. This is also the opening day of a 4-day Insects to Feed the World (IFW) conference in Torino, Italy. In both instances, the mind boggles!

On a much more “real” and more easily understood level, this is World Pet Memorial Day,  a special day to remember all the wonderful animal companions that have graced our lives – and all those “out there” who would desperately love to find “furever” homes and people to take care of them.

This energy is now marking six long cycles since the key southern Ukraine city of Kherson was declared “captured” by Russian forces. That was when the UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to denounce Russia and demand that Russia stop the invasion of Ukraine and withdraw its forces, an action that was attempting to isolate Russia diplomatically. Unfathomably,that was a futile effort, as the battles continue on.

Equally unfathomable is the fact that it has now been ten wearisome cycles, exactly, since April in 2019, when WAPO factcheckers in the U.S. reported that the dumpster had made 10,000 false or misleading claims, with that number more than tripling by January of 2021 (30,573 were documented during his 1.0 term, with nearly half of those lies told in his final year). Then came the BIG LIE that he has spewed forth continuously since losing the 2020 election, to the point where it became a central ad nauseam theme in his long drawn-out re-election campaign. Since then the tsunami of disinformation and misinformation, often in the form of an early morning torrent of vileness, has been continuous. Amplification of this turpitude over and over through social media has cluttered up the airwaves to the point that many have forgotten what civil decorum even sounds like anymore. Note that during the dumpster’s revolting state visit to the UK during the early days of this trecena last year, the UK’s Channel 4 presented “Trump v The Truth” – a dissection of 100 of Dump’s inaccuracies, in what it described as “the longest uninterrupted reel of untruths, falsehoods and distortions ever broadcast on television”.

9 Kawak (June 10th) – “outward projecting storm”, sometimes associated with significant weather events, or with situations requiring great dedication and compassion, as was in place last September when Jimmy Kimmel returned to continue with his late night program, after a huge pushback against his potential cancellation.

When this energy was in place in early January of 2025, that was the day when electoral votes were certified in a joint session of the U.S. Congress, on the fourth anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capital, as investigations and legal actions pertaining to holding people accountable for their actions in that regard went into “pause mode” (or got dropped altogether) as the transition to a 2.0 administrative term got underway. Since then the animosity between the two parties in Congress, the extraordinary disfunction and rampant hypocrisy within the Republican party, the dismantling of key governmental departments, the illegality and cruelty of ICE, the extreme incompetency of the dumpster’s administration, and the blatant ineptitude and callousness of he-who-calls-the shots have driven the country, and its position in terms of international relations, into a state of extreme dysfunction. Does anyone really think that the Iran war statemate will be resolved soon?

But currently this will be a day when great dedication and compassion will definitely be on display in Spain, as Pope Leo conducts a solemn mass in Barcelona, on the 100th anniversary of the death of Antoni Gaudi, to celebrate the completion of the basilica of the magnificent Sagrada Familia cathedral, after 144 years of construction.

On this 9 Kawak day there will also be a blessing and inauguration of the Tower of Jesus Christ, the tallest tower of the Basilica. There will also be a show created specially for the occasion, illuminating the tower of Jesus Christ and the sky over Barcelona in a visual tribute to Gaudí’s creativity and vision. It will be a day of grand celebration, featuring musicians and choirs from around Catalonia. Other details, including the main entrance stairway are expected to be completed by the early 2030’s. As it happens both Gaudi and Pope Leo were born under the influence of the same Maya energy (3 Ik’ – the “activation” of wind/breath/spirit).

This is also Portugal Day, celebrated by Portugese people throughout the world.

In addition, this is the Maya birth energy of the extraordinary Ted Turner (aka “Captain
Outragious”), who departed from this world in early May. He was not only the founder of CNN, but also a major philanthropist and environmentalist, even being credited with helping to save buffalo from extinction by setting aside over 2 million acres for them. The energy of ‘nine” on this day is representative of longevity and long lasting influence, which is certainly his legacy.

10 Ajaw (June 11th) – “foundational Sun” – an important Burner Day aligned with “taking the fire” in conjunction with Ajaw’s “full sun” energy, marking two cycles exactly since the ignition of the horrific and historic Pacific Palisades firestorm in southern California. A state of emergency was declared and some 49,000 people were put under evacuation order, as millions across southern California were put under a red flag warning as intense Santa Ana winds exacerbated the fires.

This is the second of four Ajaw-related “Burner Days” within the Tzolk’in cycle. This particular Burner Day often marks a time when something is “accepted”, in the sense of “taking the baton and running with it”, with regard to some important issue. In 2019 this was in place when Joe Biden “took the baton” and kicked off his presidential campaign with a rally in Pittsburg. When this was last in place (last September) world leaders at the United Nations unveiled new targets to cut planet-heating pollution, in a bid to spur fresh impetus to the beleaguered climate effort a day after the dumpster’s disgusting speech. A total of 120 countries and the European Union announced new goals to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions on that day. The pledges most notably included one from China, the world’s leading emitter, which said it would cut emissions by 7-10% from its peak level by 2035.

Currently this is the start of the FIFA World Cup (including in Vancouver), the multi-billion-dollar soccer tournament that will involve 104 matches, extending to July 19th. Mexico City will host a star-studded opening celebration at this time.

Elsewhere, for those interested n the arts, this is the day when a number of music icons such as Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS, Kenny Loggins, Alanis Morissette, and Taylor Swift will be indicted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In the U.S., this is National “Making Life Beautiful” day. Let’s hope such events can help people to do that. Note that this was the energy in place when Winnie-the-Pooh was published in 1926.

It has now been three cycles exactly since the opening day (after seating of the jury) for the dumpster’s sleazy hush money trial in 2024, where he was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records (and ultimately found guilty). In sharp contrast, that was Earth Day, the day when President Biden announced a $7bn investment in solar energy projects nationwide, focusing on disadvantaged communities, as he unveiled a week-long series of what was termed “historic climate actions”.

This marks six cycles since Russian forces captured Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine, in March of 2022, referred to by analysts as “an act of nuclear terrorism”. Back in 1815, this energy was in place when the “Grand Alliance” was created, linking the monarchist powers of Austria, Prussia, and Russia after the final defeat of Napoleon, at the behest of Tsar Alexander I of Russia. The goal of the alliance was to restrain liberalism and secularism in Europe in the wake of the devastating French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars.

11 Imix (June 12th) – “inspirational new birth” (realm of all potential), coinciding with the day when Canada hosts its own star-studded opening ceremony for the FIFA world cup, in Toronto at the same time, as the US hosts its own star-studded FIFA opening ceremony in Los Angeles.

This is the day when one federal judge in the US will be holding a hearing on the dumpster’s $1.776 billion “slush fund” scheme, while another holds a hearing on possible abuse of the judical process by federal prosecutors through jury tampering, with both situations constituting further evidence of the “crumbling” of the Department of Justice during the dumpster’s second term.

Note that exactly one cycle ago France illustrated how the idea of “no one is above the law” can be applied even to a former President, as a Paris court handed Nicolas Sarkozy a five-year prison sentence – for criminal conspiracy over a scheme to get election campaign funds from the regime of the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. The rightwing Sarkozy, who served as president between 2007 and 2012, was known in office not just for his hard line on immigration and national identity but for championing harsher sentencing for delinquents. Although he has served some time in prison, he is now under strict judicial supervision pending an appeal of his conviction. Overall this was seen as a spectacular downfall and a turning point in France’s long-running struggle to deal with grift and criminal allegations against politicians. Sarkozy’s sentencing marked the first time in modern French history that a former president has been ordered to turn up at the prison gates and serve time inside.

When this was last in place two cycles ago, thousands of US citizens paid their respects to President Carter as his lying-in-state in the Capital rotunda continued. In 1864, this was the energy in place when Abraham Lincoln was re-elected as the US president.

In 1993 this energy was in place when the Oslo Accords were signed, marking the start of the Oslo process, a cycle of negotiations built around the idea of allowing Palestinians to establish an independent state alongside Israel. This was seen by many as the only hope of ending a century of conflict between Arabs and Jews over control of the land between the river Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea.

The last time this energy was in place Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, addressed the UN General Assembly, declaring that his people were enduring a “war of genocide, destruction, starvation and displacement” at the hands of Israel’s military in Gaza. Speaking via video, he said more than 220,000 Palestinians had been killed or injured over nearly two years of fighting – most of them women, children and the elderly, while two million people were facing starvation under blockade. At least 43 were killed there on that day alone.

But now it is one full cycle later, and the monster in Israel gave an order on May 28th for the Israeli army to seize control of 70% of Gaza. Although it is now looking like Israel’s coalition government is finally cracking, how much more death and destruction will take place before the nightmare is finally brought to an end?

12 Ik’ (June 13th) – a “dedicated” type of force associated with wind, breath, and spirit, seen in deep mythology as the day in which the breath of life was created in the Maya Creation sequence. This is an excellent energy for conferencing or “putting heads together” to develop or share ideas, to “rally round” an idea or issue, and to make voices heard.

Currently this is St. Anthony’s Feast Day, a popular Catholic celebration of a saint sometimes known as the Wonder-worker, the patron saint for the recovery of lost things. Also known as the marriage saint, he has been recognized in legends as facilitating reconciliations. Celebrations in his honour will be held in many places worldwide at this time. Perhaps it’s time to seek his help in the global effort to recover health, civility, stability, morality, human decency, and some semblance of peace. Although, given what is currently underway at the White House, that could be a tall order even for St. Anthony.

In London ths is the day for the Trooping the Colour event in London, as the Horse Guards mark the monarch’s official birthday. This involves hundreds of parading soldiers and musicians, including the monarch’s personal guards with some 240 horses.

This is now marking two cycle since the National Day of Mourning in the U.S. at the time of President Jimmy Carter’s state funeral at Washington DC’s national cathedral. A private funeral service was held in Plains, Georgia, later in the day, followed by the private interment.

This was also the energy in place at the time of the landmark Roe vs Wade decision made by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 to decriminalize abortions in the U.S. That was overturned in 2022 by the current Supreme Court, throwing thousands of people’s lives into chaos.

In 1965 this was the energy in place when some 25,000 civil rights supporters marched to the steps of the Alabama State Capitol, in Montgomery, to deliver a petition calling for voting rights, after many had marched for several days from Selma. At that time Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “How Long, Not Long” speech, during which he said “How long? Not long, because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

Sadly, millions of disillusioned people are now wondering if that is actually true, after the astonishing events of 2024 that saw millions of dollars being spent on “delay, deny, deflect, dismiss” (and even degenerate) tactics within the US judicial system, and the failure of that system to prosecute outrageous crimes associated with the Jan. 6th insurrection, among many others. Nevertheless, there are millions of people who still believe that freedom from oppression is worth fighting for, and that is what they will be gearing up for on this day, in preparation for a nationwide event the following day, to directly counter-program against the dumpster’s sleazy “ultimate fighting” birthday event on the White House lawn.

13 Ak’b’al (June 14th) As the last day of this Maya “creation sequence” trecena, this is a powerful transformation-oriented energy aligned with “darkness” and deep esoteric mysteries – a force that can be highly consequential, as it was three cycles ago when the US Supreme Court held its hearing relating to “presidential immunity”. Their decision regarding presidential immunity has not only had dire consequences in terms of the issue of holding the dumpster responsible for his alleged crimes, but very likely served as the pivot that turned the 2024 election in his favour.

Two cycles ago, when the dumpster was sentenced in the hush money trial, after being found guilty on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records related to the hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in order to boost his electoral prospects in the 2016 presidential election, the sentencing was an “unconditional discharge”, rendered just 10 days before the dumpster assumed the presidency – hardly even a slap on the wrist. So the question of how to hold him accountable for the crimes that have been committed still looms large. Nevertheless, three cycles ago a federal judge did award more than $83m to the writer E. Jean Carroll in her defamation case against the dumpster, an award that has been upheld even by a court of appeals. And still the long-running Epstein scandal keeps simmering in the background, waiting to explode.

Note that this powerful earth-oriented 13 Ak’b’al force was in place in October of 1973 when then-US Vice-president Spiro Agnew resigned after investigations showed that he was involved with extortion, bribery, and income tax violations. He pleaded guilty on one count of tax evasion and made a plea deal that ensured he would never run for office again.

Currently this will be a day of deep, deep darkness, at the time of a New Moon, in terms of the history of the US presidency, as this is the day when the dumpster “celebrates” his 80th birthday by desecrating the White House and its grounds by staging an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) cage fight in a monstrous structure built on the White House lawn – referred to as a super-sleazy attempt to win back approval from disillusioned young men.

At the same time millions of people will be taking part in counter-events, which will include a 90-minute “Rise Up-Sing Out” Concert for the First Amendment at New York City’s Town Hall, featuring singer Bette Midler, songwriter Patti Smith, actor Jane Fonda, musician Rufus Wainwright and commentator Joy Reid, which will stream free nationwide, while local groups host watch parties across the country.

The event is co-presented by the Committee for the First Amendment, a coalition of artists and cultural figures, who are working on events to frame the 250th anniversary of the US as a moment of democratic reckoning.

Note, as well that this was the energy in place in 1998 when President Clinton’s impeachment process began. It was also in place in 1862 when President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

This is an energy that often brings forth storms and other severe weather conditions.
