At this peak of the Atlantic Hurricane season the winds of change are blowing fast and furiously, and many of those winds are fiery! Russia war games, the release of blistering cannon shots against Trump, intense hurricanes, Climate Change action, highly consequential political decisions, and so much more are in the works at this time. And all of this will be unfolding during a trecena that, in the past, has brought prodigious upheavals. Certainly this trend will continue at this time, but there are also lifelines to hold onto, so let’s look at both sides.

From one perspective we will be seeing a lot of “fire and fury”, as this can be a very “hot and intense” time frame. This will kick off with the release of Bob Woodward’s new book titled Fear: Trump in the White House, in tandem with multi-pronged prosecutorial actions being taken against individuals who were connected with the 2016 campaign. More fuel will be added to this fire with the US release of Michael Moore’s blistering new Fahrenheit 11/9 movie, which has been seen as “a call to arms”.

All this will be taking place during the same energy frame that hosted the Watergate hearings in 1974 that ultimately resulted in President Nixon’s resignation. This is also the trecena that precipitated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, under the same daysign influence as when Hillary Clinton made history by becoming the first female to be officially nominated as a presidential candidate by a major political party, in 2016.

While all of this is happening Russia is conducting massive war games, while simultaneouly participating in diabolical attacks on civilians and rebel forces in Syria. And then there is the pandemonium that is being brought by Cat. 4 Hurricane Florence which intensified very rapidly on the final day of the last trecena (on 13 Muluk – a very intense water-oriented energy) which will whallop the US East Coast over the first few days of this period. Two other potential hurricanes are currently developing behind it, at the same time as Hurricane Olivia is heading for Hawaii.

Traditionally, in the world of ancient Mesoamerica, the first day of this energy period was celebrated as an ancient Feast Day of Renewal, oriented around the idea of guidance, justice, and the restoration of life. Thought of as being under the influence of Xipe Tótec, the Lord of Renewal, and Quetzalcóatl, Lord of Life, this is a time when a new sense of direction in conjunction with the energies of renewal come into play. This was symbolized specifically by Xipe Tótec who was generally depicted wearing a flayed skin, symbolic of the “sloughing off” of the old and the bursting forth of the new. One of the key symbols associated with this time frame is a dog holding a torch, bringing light into the darkness and showing the way.

Three cycles ago (July-Aug. 2016) huge numbers of people were trying to bring light into the darkness that was threatening the US, but ultimately things became “too hot”, and the results were disastrous.

Two cycles ago this Ok trecena brought a huge alert from British, European and even Australian spy agencies to their counterparts in Washington about contacts between members of Trump’s campaign team and Russian intelligence operatives. Evidence that incriminated Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort began to surface at that time. And now this trecena will see jury selection getting underway in preparation for Manafort’s second trial, which pertains specifically to issues associated with those connections.

In the past it has often seemed that some great sense of impending change has preceded this trecena, leaving people wondering about which way to turn. Then, along with this Ok trecena, some sense of new direction would begin to take shape.

In the past this trecena coincided with the opening of the first international Olympics of the modern era, in 1896, in Athens. In 1976 this trecena saw the roll-out of the space shuttle Enterprise, the first test shuttle of the space shuttle series, which significantly opened the door to new explorations in space.

In terms of politics, one of the most hopeful shifts in direction came during this trecena in 1961 at the time of John F. Kennedy’s inauguration as president, when he delivered his famous “Ask not what your country can do …..” address.

Fast forward to the early 1970’s and the darkness surrounding the Nixon era, which culminated in the Watergate scandal. It took two years to work through the mess, but ultimately during the summer of 1974 the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that President Nixon had to turn over the tape recordings of 64 White House conversations. It was the Ok trecena that accompanied the review of those tapes, including the discovery of “The Smoking Gun Tape” that contained evidence of obstruction of justice. Articles of impeachment were then approved by the House Judiciary Committee, which precipitated the resignation of President Nixon near the beginning of the following trecena.

In 2008, at the end of the Bush era, this trecena initially brought a failure to pass the $700 billion bailout bill that was needed to address the financial meltdown that had occurred during the preceding trecena. However, after a battle in Congress that bill was signed by the end of the time frame.

In 2015 there was celebration among many at the decision by the Obama administration to put environmental concerns and human rights ahead of corporate greed as the beginning of this trecena brought the announcement of the rejection of the building of the Keystone XL pipeline. (Later overturned by the current administration, but at the time that rejection was widely praised.)

And, then there was that monumental “miracle of deliverance” during this trecena in May of 1940 when 800 boats of all shapes and sizes carried out the extraordinary rescue of nearly 340,000 allied soldiers from the beaches of Dunkirk, France when they were trapped by the German army. It was a seemingly impossible situation that was turned around by the unselfish involvement of ordinary citizens who leapt into the breach to save the lives of all those men who were cornered in a hellish situation. This could well be a metaphor for what is needed at this present time – for ordinary citizens to get involved in turning things around. With millions needing to be rescued, it will take extraordinary bravery and ingenuity on the part of many who will have to coordinate their efforts to dissipate the darkness and shine light on new pathways.

Intriguingly, at this time in India and other places where Hindu festivals are celebrated, the great Ganesh Chaturthi festival will take place at this time, spanning 11 days of this trecena. Known as the Lord of Beginnings, Remover of Obstacles, patron of the arts and knowledge, Ganesh ties right in with Mesoamerican traditions associated with Xipe Tótec, the Lord of Renewal, and Quetzalcóatl, Lord of Life, Knowledge, and Culture who are the patrons of this time frame. The first day of this Ok trecena is aligned with renewal from the Mesoamerican perspective, with the third day seeing the arrival of the Ganesh festival and renewal from the Hindu point of view.

Overall, it seems that these are important points of light within this time frame that “ideally” is oriented around Love, Loyalty, Warmth, Guidance, and Renewal. Something to keep in mind even in the midst of the “fire storms” that will be raging?

Certainly there are a number of promising inititives being undertaken at this time, in terms of pushback to the darkness. Here are the energies that will come into play as all of this unfolds:

1 Ok (Sept. 11th) – the “initiation of guidance” – an energy that can be seen as having an ability to shine light on things previously unseen; an ancient Maya Feast Day of Renewal, correlating at this time with the release day of Bob Woodward’s Fear: Trump in the White House, at the point where there is a mere 8 weeks until the highly anticipated US midterm elections. This also coincides with Patriot’s Day in the U.S., on the 17th anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy.

On this day Russia will start its massive Vostok-2018 war games involving 300,000
personnel, more than 1000 aircraft, two naval fleets, and some 36,000 tanks and other military vehicles. The evening marks the end of Rosh Hashanah and the beginning of the Islamic New Year. At this time Cat. 4 Hurricane Florence is barrelling towards the US East Coast, with another hurricane heading towards Hawaii.

2 Chuwen (Sept. 12th) – a dynamic type of energy traditionally aligned with creativity, and often involving some kind of “intense heat”, correlating at this time with the first day of the three-day Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, which itself is the culmination of several days worth of worldwide “Rise for Climate”
demonstrations. As 2 Chuwen is a solar force within a fire-oriented time frame, this energy can trigger intense engagement and action.

3 Eb’ (Sept. 13th) – the activation of “animated vitality”, a pathfinding/stream-of-consciousness type of force.  This is the day when world leaders are expected to attend the state funeral in Accra, Ghana for former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, whose passing last month occurred just 2 days after the death of Aretha Franklin. His Maya birth energy is in 2 days.

This is also the first day of the popular 11-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival, in honour of the Hindu god known as Lord Ganesha, one of the most important in Hinduism. Ganesh is known as the Lord of Beginnings, the Remover of Obstacles, the Deity of Success, the patron of letters and learning.

4 B’en (Sept. 14th) – a “defining” energy associated with personal authority, on the concluding day of the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco. By this afternoon or following morning Hurricane Florence is scheduled to hit the Carolinas and other parts of the US East Coast. Many areas are now under states of emergency. While this is happening Supertyphoon Mangkhut (Cat. 5) is barrelling down on the Philippines. With over 43 million people in the path of that storm (from the Philippines to southern China) evacuations are underway as that storm is due to unleash its intense winds and rains within the next 48 hours.

As will be the case this time, this 4 B’en energy has been a highly consequential force in world history, as this was the energy in place at the time of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. In 2016 this was the energy in place when Hillary Clinton made history by becoming the first female to be officially nominated as a presidential candidate. Currently this is the opening day of the Jane Austen festival in Bath, as hundreds gather to participate in what is seen as the largest gathering of Jane Austen enthusiasts in the world.

5 Ix (Sept. 15th) – a “blessing” or “precision” type of energy associated with mystery and transformation. Launch date for NASA’s ICESat-2 (Ice, Cloud, and Land Elevation satellite) that will provide precise measurements of the changing heights of Earth’s glaciers, ice sheets, and sea ice. This was the energy in place at the opening of the Paris Peace Conference for negotiation of treaty settlements after World War I and the Maya Calendar anniversary of the energy in place when the Dunkirk evacuation began during World War II.

This is also the UN’s International Day of Democracy, the last day of the Russia war games, Playing for Change Day, the Nezujinja shrine Grand Festival, and former UN
Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Maya birth energy.

6 Men (Sept. 16th) – a “stabilizing” type of energy associated with the high vision of the eagle, coinciding at this time with the UN’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. This is a national holiday in Mexico, as parades, feasting, and fireworks will mark that country’s 208th Independence Day. Across Canada this is the day of the annual Terry Fox run dedicated to maintaining Terry’s vision of raising money for cancer research.

Three cycles ago this was the energy in place when Hillary Clinton delivered her acceptance speech as the Democratic nominee for President at the DNC, with every expectation that she would actually be elected president.

7 Kib’ (Sept. 17th) – a self-generating type of energy, often associated with generating the kind of thought that can lead towards the restoration of order, at the time of a conjunction between the Moon and Saturn, on the day when jury selection was to take place for Paul Manafort’s second trial (now cancelled due to his guilty plea). Two cycles since the “Chicken Trump” Tax March took place across the U.S. and in other cities around the world.  Respect for the Aged day in Japan.

8 Kab’an (Sept. 18th) – a “resurrection” type of energy associated with “evolutionary” movement, coinciding at this time with the opening of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 73) and General Assembly week. In the evening – the start of Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement. In 1961 this was the energy in place at the time of the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy.  The beginning of a three day summit between the leaders of North and South Korea.

9 Etz’nab’ (Sept. 19th) – representative of “outwardly-projecting” flint, a “spark-oriented” (and even knife-edged) type of energy that can be quite dramatic and consequential, coinciding at this time with the end of Yom Kippur – Jewish Day of Atonement and International Talk Like a Pirate Day. One cycle since the launch of the Time’s Up Movement to fight systemic sexual harassment in Hollywood and beyond. Maya birth energy of Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum who won the Democratic Party’s primary for governor in an historic upset last month.

10 Kawak (Sept. 20th) – “foundational storm” – an energy associated with intense catalyzation as can be seen and felt in major energy pushes or strong weather systems, on the first anniversary of the day when Puerto Rico was struck full force by “the storm of the century” as Hurricane Maria delivered a devastating blow that killed over 3000 people, shattered homes and infrastructure, and completely destroyed the power grid.

As Puerto Rico has received very little assistance from the Trump administration, a memorial service and protest march on TrumpTower will be held on this day, with a second one taking place in Florida two days later. Just a few days ago New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told a congregation that he will help families sue Trump and his administration for failing to provide adequate assistance to those affected by Hurricane Maria, since that administration violated Puerto Rico’s Constitutional right to equal protection under the law.

Two cycles since the publication of Alan Lichtman’s The Case for Impeachment which illustrates the multiple layers of issues which can provide a foundation for Trump’s impeachment. And during these past two cycles the case has become monumentally stronger.

At this time there is a conjunction of the waxing gibbous moon and Mars, at a time when two NASA astronauts will take a spacewalk to install new batteries in the ISS’s P4 Truss 4A power channel. Final day of the three day summit between the leaders of North and South Korea.

11 Ajaw (Sept. 21st) – an “inspirational sun” or “inspirational enlightenment” Burner Day, on the UN’s International Day of Peace, with this year’s theme being: “The Right to Peace – The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70”. This is the US release date for Michael Moore’s blistering new Fahrenheit 11/9 movie, which he refers to as a call to arms, a “siren call” to a “despairing, dispirited public who must – MUST – do its job and end the madness at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue”. This is also the opening day of of Moscow’s Circle of Light festival.

In 2011 this was the energy in place when the price of gold rose to an unprecedented $1743/oz. on the same day as the sun emitted an Earth-directed X6.9 solar flare.

12 Imix (Sept. 22nd) – a “gathering together” type of force oriented around new beginnings (often “cosmic”), at the time of the Autumn Equinox, World Car free day, Elephant Appreciation Day, International Rabbit Day, and the start of the 185th Munich Octoberfest, one of the largest festivals in the world. This is also the day of the online 2018 Global People’s Summit.

Currently this is the one year anniversary of the day when some 70,000 people attempted to evacuate from Puerto Rico when a failing dam threatened tens of thousands with flash flooding two days after that island country was hit by Hurricane Maria. To provide a strong reminder of the negligence of the US government in this regard a massive protest is scheduled to take place at Mar-a-Lago on this day. Large placards will highlight such things as the number of months Puerto Rico went without electricity, the growing suicide rate, and the number of closed schools and hospitals. Major demonstrations are also planned for New York. Such events are part of a new project launched by the Latino Victory Project that supports Latino Democratic political candidates and works to mobilize Latinos to vote.

13 Ik’ (Sept. 23rd) – transformational wind, breath, and spirit, this time coinciding with World Rivers day and the Social Good Summit 2018, with the theme of #2030NOW”. This is also the final day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which is referred to as Ananta Chaturdasi at which time Ganesh is immersed in a lake or ocean. Originally images of Ganesh were made of clay, so immersing them in water would help the deity to become formless once again as the deity “returned home”. With the use of other materials these days this immersion is mainly symbolic.

In the evening – the start of the Judeo/Christian Feast of the Tabernacles (to the evening of Sept. 30th). Maya calendar energy that was in place during the final day of the enormous Dunkirk rescue operation during World War II.
