Maya Calendar Energies At Work In The World

As many of us put “holidays” behind us and “get back to business”, we now have the Manik’ trecena, the first full trecena of 2019, coming into place, with its emphasis on Sacrifice and Reconcilation.

Symbolized by a Deer or Stag, a powerful but gentle and adaptable creature, this 13-day time frame often centers around interactions between two “forces” that will need to negotiate in various ways in a struggle between opposing ideas, or in a struggle to reach agreement over ideologies or courses of action. With the partial U.S. government shutdown now in its third week, with no end in sight, it would seem that this kind of struggle will play out on a national scale, with implications for hundreds of thousands of government workers who are currently out of work or not being paid.

Given that situation, the image of Doctor Dolittle’s pushmi-pullyu comes to mind, the mythical animal with two heads at opposite sides of its body. Considerable cooperation in required in order to get anywhere.

Three cycles ago, in late November of 2016, this was the trecena in place when people were frantically attempting to sort out how to move forward after the “shocking” U.S. election, with large numbers of high level firings and resignations taking place during that time.

Two cycles ago (in the summer of 2017) this trecena saw major “head butting” between Trump and Kim Jong-un, as a stringent set of sanctions were imposed against North Korea over its missile program, which kicked off a blustery “nuclear brinksmanship” exchange of threats between the two of them. And if that wasn’t enough, unfathomable, racist/anti-racist clashes broke out in Charlottesville, VA that precipitated a state of emergency before order could be regained in that area. With high stakes and/or opposing ideologies such as these involved, these energies, unfortunately, can often manifest in confrontation rather than negotiation, so it is hard to predict whether this trecena will help or hinder the finding of a resolution to the current impasse.

Two cycles ago in Washington D.C. a grand jury was just beginning to review the evidence being brought forward by Robert Mueller’s investigative team relating to Russia’s meddling in the U.S. election and the Trump-Russia connections. Since then there have been dozens of criminal indictments, and with the term of that grand jury’s tenure just having been extended for another six months, more indictments are expected in the near future, including the possibilility of more within Trump’s inner circle.

Indeed things will heat up again on the second day of this period as Paul Manafort’s lawyers respond to the allegations concerning Manafort making false statements to investigators. With incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi indicating that it is still “an open discussion” as to whether a sitting president can be indicted, it also remains to be seen how that debate unfolds.

While there is no doubt that a great deal of negotiation will take place during this current trecena, it certainly is possible for resolutions to take shape on various fronts. However, it would appear that this would not be without some sort of “sacrifice” taking place before any sort of “reconcilation” can be accomplished.

A classic example of this can be seen in the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. At that time the final day of this trecena brought the highest level of warning regarding the nuclear threat from the Soviets, as Soviet submarines in the mid-Atlantic were making their way to Cuba. It was a “game-changing” moment for President John F. Kennedy as this crisis was averted. In 1989 this was the trecena that brought forth the dismantling of the Berlin Wall, and in 1991 it brought the end of the Soviet Union as all official Soviet operations ceased after the Soviet Union was declared dissolved. This time it is the U.K. that is in the spotlight as it appears that things seem to be unravelling over Brexit, with a crucial vote on Brexit being held during this period.

Within this energy frame there are a number of days that tend to be particularly consequential, with the first being Three Muluk, which was in place at the time of the death of Princess Diana in 1997. This energy was also in place at the time of the first inauguration of Hugo Chávez (Venezulela) in 1999 and at the time of the first inauguration of President Obama in 2009. Two years later this “Activation of Water” force coincided with the horrendous earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

For some reason “royal happenings” often seem to coincide with this trecena, with both tragedies and blessings taking place within it. The tragedies have included the devastating accident that took the life of Princess Diana, followed by her funeral and burial, which saddened the hearts of the millions who had to reconcile themselves to the reality of her ultimate sacrifice. How could anyone ever have guessed that the arrival into this world of her grandson Prince Louis would take place under exactly the same energy influence as was in place at the time of Diana’s departure – another example of “sacrifice and reconciliation?

In addition to that we find that the following day within this 13-day period (4 Ok) is the Maya birth energy of Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother, and the great, great, great grandmother of William and Kate’s children, with Kate Middleton’s Maya birth energy coming several days later. Currently Kate’s 37th Gregorian birthday coincides with Queen Mary’s Maya birthday.

The last time this trecena was in place Queen Elizabeth’s 92nd birthday coincided with the first day of this trecena, on the same day as the funeral for former First Lady Barbara Bush, which was attended by the two Bush presidents, the Clintons, the Obamas, and Melania (4 former presidents and 4 first ladies). A connection can also be seen between an anniversary of an elaborate display of royalty by Queen Elizabeth I and this Maya calendar anniversary of Princess Diana’s funeral (see 9 Men below).

Energies associated with rock ‘n’ roll royalty are also factoring into this trecena at this time, including those associated with Elvis Presley [the “King of Rock and Roll” (or just “The King”), and David Bowie (the “King of Glam Rock”)]. At this time we can see Elvis’s Maya birthday on 2 Lamat, followed the next day by Mick Jagger’s Maya birthday, which aligns at this time with the Gregorian birthdays of both Elvis and David Bowie. A few days later comes the 97th Gregorian birthday of one of Hollywood’s entertainment “queens”, Betty White, followed the day after by the Maya birth energy of the legendary Annie Lennox. (Click here for an amazing duet between Annie and David Bowie).

From a traditional perspective, the eighth day of this time frame brings in “Santo Mundo”, a very special Maya day for honouring Mother Earth. This is followed by the return of India’s Makar Sankranti festival, a Hindu astrological “holy phase of transition” event that marks the return of the sun – and light – and wisdom, coinciding with that key voting day in the U.K.

As is often the case, the final day of this trecena (13 Kawak) can be quite intense, as it was in 1964 when it brought forth the 9.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Alaska. At this time of year the possibility of some kind of intense storm at that time is not out of the question.

As always, it is never possible to predict the exact nature of the “Sacrifice and Reconcilation” that may unfold during these 13 days. Certainly if something has to be negotiated, this is a good time for it, but it can also be a time of “testing” that can require people to deal with important issues, working towards the goal of regaining some sense of equilibrium. Although some give-and-take adjustments may be required it is possible that some unexpectedly positive outcomes could result from respectful cooperation. As this plays out, these are the energies that will come into play:

1 Manik’ (Jan. 6th) – the “initiation of reciprocity”, symbolized by the Moon Goddess
working with the Deer/Stag, the “carrier” of the sun on Earth, this time coinciding with the New Moon and a Partial Solar Eclipse. In some traditions this is Twelfth Night, a day of “feasting and merriment” as Christmas trees are taken down. This is also the day of the Christian celebration of Three Kings Day, or Epiphany, a concept that pertains to the manifestation of a supernatural or divine reality, or a sudden revelation, as in the appearance of Christ to the Magi, correlating at this time with Venus at her greatest western elongation.

2 Lamat (Jan. 7th) – a “dynamic heralding” (or leadership) type of energy, as was in place at the birth of Elvis Aaron Presley in 1935. Birth energy of an Aztec deity known as Ometochtli (Two Rabbit) who was associated with pulque, the fermented sap of the maguey plant. Through these connections this day was sometimes seen as being aligned with intoxication. Currently this is Coptic Christmas Day in Egypt, and Orthodox Christmas (“Old Christmas Day”), a public holiday in many eastern European traditions at the beginning of a festive week.

On this fourth anniversary of the horrific Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris (called “the darkest day in the history of the French press”), Democrats in the U.S. will introduce the “H.R.8” bill into Congress, relating to the introduction of universal background checks for gun purchases. This bill is being introduced exactly one cycle and 3 days after the massive National Day of Action to Prevent Gun Violence in Schools demonstrations across the U.S. in the spring of 2018. Also in the U.S. this is the deadline date for Paul Manafort’s lawyers to respond to the allegations concerning his lying to investigators. On this day SpaceX is scheduled to launch 10 satellites from Vandenberg Air Force Base.

3 Muluk (Jan. 8th) – the “activation of water”, often a powerful “shape-shifting” type of force, on the first day of the gigantic (and influential) Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.  This is the Maya energy that was in place at the start of the Cuban missile crisis (in late October, 1962), and also in place at the time of the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997. Maya birth energy of both Mick Jagger (who will be 76 on July 26th) and Prince Louis, Diana’s grandson, who was born precisely 29 Tzolk’in cycles after the death of Diana.

This year this day would have marked Elvis Presley’s 84th Gregorian birthday and David Bowie’s 72nd birthday. Many other momentous events have also occurred under this influence, some of which are noted above.

4 Ok (Jan. 9th) – a “defining” Burner Day representative of fire (or heart-fire), an energy that can often stir the emotions as this is a “double-fire” type of force, coinciding at this time with Kate Middleton’s 37th birthday. This is also the Maya birth energy of Queen Mary, who is Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother and the great, great, great grandmother of William and Kate’s children.

5 Chuwen (Jan. 10th) – a “precision” oriented energy in combination with play or even mischief; a “timeweaver” type of energy that can bring about change through innovation, coinciding with the third anniversary of the death of David Bowie (who was born on a 4 Chuwen day in 1947).

6 Eb’ (Jan. 11th) – generally a “stabilizing” type of energy aligned with “restorative vitality”, on the final day of the Consumer Electronics Show.

7 B’en (Jan. 12th) – a “self generating personal authority” type of energy, as was in place one cycle ago at the time of the historic meeting in the Korean demilitarised zone between the leaders of North and South Korea, at which time the Panmunjom Declaration was proclaimed, where they committed to working towards the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. This was also the energy in place in April of 1865 when General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Confederate army to General Grant, precipitating the conclusion of the U.S. civil war. Conjunction of the Moon and Mars.

8 Ix (Jan. 13th) “Resurrecting Jaguar” – this is Santo Mundo, a special Maya day devoted to the Celebration of the Earth and its sacred mysteries.

9 Men (Jan. 14th) – the “outward projection” of vision (as in the high-flying vision of the Eagle – which sometimes manifests as a “warrior” type of energy). This is the 460th anniversary of Elizabeth I’s elaborate procession in a cloth-of-gold covered litter, that was carried out on the eve of her coronation in 1559 to “broadcast” an aura of majesty and power, and thirty cycles since the funeral of Princess Diana, in 1997, which so saddened millions of people. It is also the 8th anniversary of the collapse of the Tunisian dictatorship that resulted from the first massive people power uprising/revolution of the Arab world, seen as the beginning of a revolutionary wave in 2011 that became known as the Arab Spring.

This is the first day of India’s Makar Sankranti festival, a Hindu astrological “holy phase of transition” event that marks the end of winter solstice period and the return of the sun – and light – and wisdom. At this time one of the main activities is kite flying by day and the flying of stunning sky lanterns by night.

10 Kib’ (Jan. 15th) – a “foundational restoration” type of energy which can fluctuate between the setting up of important foundations for a “restoration of order” (as in the setting up of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty in 1968) to the kind of massive “clean up” that was required in China in 2008 after the Szechuan earthquake. At this time this energy coincides with the second day of India’s Makar Sankranti festival.

This is also the day when British MP’s are scheduled to vote on Brexit. As it has been reported that 59% are opposed to the Brexit deal, with many preferring “no deal” to the Brexit deal being put forward, this could be a very critical moment for the U.K.  Kate Middleton’s Maya Calendar birth energy.

11 Kab’an (Jan. 16th) –the energy of “change” combined with the force of evolutionary movement, on the 40th anniversary of the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in Iran when Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (the Shah) and his family were forced to leave the country

12 Etz’nab’ (Jan. 17th) – a robust “knife-edge” type of force that can bring forth powerful separation (or “sacrifice-related”) events, as in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 and the naval quarantine of Cuba in 1962. On this day veteran performer Betty White celebrates her 97th birthday. Opening day for two chilly but spectacular events – the Ice Magic Festival in Banff and Igloofest, the coldest music festival in the world. Scheduled launch day for the SpaceX Crew Dragon, as a demonstration of a spacecraft that will be made available to ferry astronauts to the International Space Station.

13 Kawak (Jan. 18th) – “transformational storm”, coinciding at this time with the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington D.C., to bring awareness to long term injustices again indigenous peoples. This is a Maya calendar anniversary of the energy in place when Andrew Johnson took office as the US president in 1865, at a time when great many atrocities against indigenous peoples were taking place, not only in the U.S., but worldwide. Johnson was impeached 3 years later – the first to be impeached.

This is also the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Paris Peace Conference (aka the Versailles Peace Conference) in 1919 to set the peace terms for the defeated Central Powers after World War I. Maya birth energy of rock superstar Annie Lennox and former U.S. astronaut Alan Bean who was the fourth person to walk on the moon.
