Maya Count Of Days Horoscope

Maya Calendar Energies At Work In The World

As usual, the end of the last trecena brought a crescendo of activity, including much intense scrambling by U.S. lawmakers to pass a spending bill to prevent the government from shutting down, and a major push to repeal and replace Obamacare. While the House of Representatives passed a bill (with a razor-thin 217-213 vote) to do just that, the U.S. Senate said that they would not vote on the bill but would write their own legislation instead. So with that decision perhaps we can start to see some “common sense” returning as the Senators refused to be rushed with regard to this matter.

Once again as this new trecena comes into place we can see echoes from the past – echoes of the emphasis on “practicality” that often comes into play at this time . . . echoes, even, of “the good old days”. As this is a trecena that begins with an energy oriented around the “initiation of the restoration of order”, we can see this reflected all the way back to 1776 when the first edition of Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense” was published under this influence. In 1983 this was the energy in place when the terrifying movie “The Day After” was televised, which shocked 100 million people (including President Ronald Reagan) into the realization of the consequences of a nuclear war. Exactly five cycles later, on One Kib’ in 1987 President Reagan challenged President Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall.

In 2005 it was a One Kib’ day when President Bush finally admitted that the decision for the U.S. to invade Iraq was based on faulty intelligence. In 2009 this was the energy in place when President Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev mutually agreed to reduce nuclear arsenals, which set the course to replace the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. And then, of course, there was One Kib’ in 2010, the historic day when The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into law by President Obama. So this might be a good time to be grateful for the return of this energy as it is greatly needed at this time.

As we could see during the last trecena, which is often oriented around the exposing of deep secrets and issues related to morality and ethics (such as the mistreatment of airline passengers), millions of people are now pushing for accountability. In addition, more and more evidence to support the contention that there was Russian interference with the U.S. election is being uncovered, and hearings relating to this investigation are now underway. So there is much that will require “practical” attention within the context of this current trecena.

During this time frame the emphasis is oriented around such things as transmutation, ingenuity, and practicality, which can be triggered, at times, by dramatic events that demand change. During this energy sequence there is often an emphasis on duality, sometimes involving paired events or paired ideas struggling to maintain equilibrium, with one of the most dramatic manifestations being the destruction of the twin towers of the World Trade Center in 2001 when hit by two planes that exploded upon impact on the sixth day of this time frame. As everyone is aware, that was a world-shifting event, and massive changes in national and international security have come into being as a result of the fiery forces that were in motion on that day.

Incredibly, an echo of that event was seen precisely 16 Tzolk’in cycles after 9/11, in 2013, when a blast collapsed the lower floors of the headquarters of Petroleos Mexicanos in Mexico City, crushing 33 people beneath tons of rubble. This building was an iconic 52-storey tower similar in style to New York’s former World Trade Center, and was originally designed as a pair of 26-storey buildings. (Note: 26 and 52 are key Maya Calendar numbers.) In an eerie replay of the scene from 2001, people covered with dust rushed away from the buildings, as white smoke billowed out.

These kinds of events are suggestive of the “sun close to the earth” or “fire in the earth” kinds of forces associated with the patron energies of this period, energies that have been known to foment havoc for the purpose of transmutation, often as part of a push towards the birthing of a new type of order.

Indeed, in December of 2015 these were the forces that were in play at the time of the intense negotiations taking place in Paris as 196 nations worked to develop and approve an historic global accord to fight climate change, signalling an end to the fossil fuel era. This was seen as a decisive point in time as they committed, for the first time, to a universal agreement that has the goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions and limiting temperature rises. And now, as this trecena returns, climate change talks are resuming (in Bonn) on the 4th day of this trecena as participant countries work on plans for implementing that agreement (but with much reduced involvement of the U.S.). The talks continue through the remaining days of the trecena.

Overall this trecena can often manifest as a real “work horse” kind of time frame, with strong emphasis on clear thinking and industriousness, as well as “getting down to business”, all oriented around transmutation, as symbolized by the BEES that are so strongly associated with Kib’s energy.

So, once again the challenges at this time are great. However, this particular time frame does hold the potential to engender glimmers of light, as old patterns go through the process of transmutation and new imperatives come into view. With its emphasis on such things as illumination, ingenuity, vigilance, forgiveness, and even practicality, this trecena can provide important opportunities for the formulation of viable approaches to dealing with pressing, critical matters. During this current time frame these are the energies that will come into play:

1 Kib’ (May 5th) – the “initiation” of the transmutation force that leads towards the restoration of order, at the peak of the Eta Aquarid meteor shower just as this energy is coming in, this time in conjunction with Cinco de Mayo. Thirty years ago this was the energy in place when President Reagan challenged Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. Precisely ten cycles ago (on One Kib’ in 2010) The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into law by President Obama.

2 Kab’an (May 6th) – a “dynamic” type of energy related to the earth, or “earth movement”, this time coinciding with World Labyrinth Day

3 Etz’nab’ (May 7th) – the “activation” of a sparkling, “knife-edged” type of energy that can dazzle and/or begin a separation process at a time when the Moon and Jupiter will make a very close approach to one another, at the time of the fierce run-off election in France (Click here for an overview of similarities to the U.S. election) On this day a full federal appeals court will review Trump’s revised travel ban appeal.

Also on this day President Obama receives the Profile in Courage award given annually by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, at which time he will deliver a speech at the library’s black-tie dinner on the topic of what courage means in today’s world.

Also the Maya calendar anniversary of the energy in place on June 26, 1977 when Elvis Presley gave his final live concert. He had released his last single just 20 days earlier.

4 Kawak (May 8th) – a “defining” type of energy aligned with “storm”, representative of the sun working together with the energy of intense rain, which can sometimes manifest as a “storm of compassion”. This is the day when UN climate change talks resume (in Bonn). On this day former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates will testify before a Senate judiciary committee on Russia’s interference in the US election. One of the 5 energies at the centre of the Aztec Sun Stone, this time in conjunction with the 72nd Gregorian anniversary of VE Day in Europe.

5 Ajaw (May 9th) – the “blessing of enlightenment”, this time in conjunction with BC election day, the South Korean presidential election, and Russia’s Victory Day celebrations with the trooping of military power in Red Square. At this time NASA’s Cassini spacecraft makes its third crossing of Saturn’s rings. In ancient Mesoamerican mythology this was known as Xochipilli’s birthday, a day associated with the arts, beauty and games.  This seems a fitting energy to be in place as Stephen Colbert hosts a “Daily Show” reunion this evening to celebrate his 20th anniversary as a television host/comedian.

6 Imix (May 10th) – an “everywhere” type of energy associated with “birth”, which can often bring chaos as some new order of being is manifested. This time in conjunction with the Full Flower Moon (aka Corn Planting Moon or Milk Moon) and Vesak Day, a major Buddhist festival oriented around the celebration of the birth, enlightenment (nirvana), and death of Buddha.

7 Ik’ (May 11th) – “self-generating” wind/ breath/spirit. Maya birth energy of Dr. Michael Newton, the extraordinary hypnotherapist who conducted pioneering research into the “afterlife”, documented in books such as Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives, Destiny of Souls, and Memories of the Afterlife. Dr. Newton passing into the afterlife last September but his work sparked a significant movement into LBL therapies.

“People need to understand that the spiritual realm is their true home that they will return to, not a place that has to be earned.”     Michael Newton

8 Ak’b’al (May 12th) – a “resurrection” type of energy associated with “temple” or “house”, and deep esoteric mysteries; the energy under which the first National Women’s Day was celebrated in the U.S. (in 1909).

This would have been comedian George Carlin’s 80th birthday. Given how wonderful his wit was, there is no doubt that he would have had a field day with the political situation these days. Click here for some of his great Euphemisms.

9 K’an (May 13th) – representative of “outwardly-projecting” longevity in association with germination, as when the Hubble Space Telescope was deployed in 1990 after its launch the day before, this time in conjunction with World Fair Trade day.

A day of commemoration in many areas to mark the 100th anniversary of the first apparitions of the Virgin to three children at Fatima. As Leonard Nimoy’s Maya birthday, this energy could also translate as “Live Long and Prosper”.

10 Chikchan (May 14th) – a Burner Day associated with “Foundational Lifeforce, Liberation, and Higher Consciousness”, this time in conjunction with Mother’s Day and the start of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing to promote the construction of new international trade routes. Maya birth energy of Emma Morano, who was the world’s oldest person until her death last month (on 7 Kib’) at age 117.

11 Kimi (May 15th) – “inspirational” new foundations, at the time of the “Imperial” Aoi Matsuri (Aoi Festival) in Kyoto, Japan. On this day NASA orchestrates the 4th crossing of Saturn’s rings by NASA’s Cassini spacecraft.

A reminder of the U.S. Civil War that was unfolding three Calendar Rounds ago can be seen by a plaque in Chatfield, Minn. that commemorates a march that took place under this precise “day + month” influence “in defense of the Union”.

12 Manik’ (May 16th) – a “gathering together” type of energy associated with reciprocity. Maya birth energy of former real estate developer and magnate Harry Helmsley, former owner of the Empire State Building and other prestigious buildings in New York.

13 Lamat (May 17th) – “transformational star”, an intense “heralding” type of force, this time coinciding with the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, and the 375th annversary of the founding of Montreal (as Ville Marie, in 1642). Maya Calendar anniversary of the energy under which The Dawes Act was passed (130 years ago as of February), which caused American Indian groups to lose a collective 90 million acres of reservation land.
