Maya Count Of Days Horoscope

Maya Calendar Energies At Work In The World

We anticipated that it could be intense and shocking, as the trecena that preceded this one has a way of getting peoples’ attention in dramatic ways. That was the trecena that completed the first half of the 260 day cycle, and set the stage for the “Creation” sequence that comes in at this time. What often happens during that period is that events can trigger “flashes” of insight or illuminate issues that demand attention during this important Chuwen trecena. And during the past couple of weeks those “flashes of light” came in at particularly high voltage, revealing many deep dark secrets that are desperately needing attention.

Click here for the Podcast to accompany this trecena.

In the US, the 100th anniversary of the horrific Tulsa massacre not only brought attention to the viciousness of “white supremacy” and the horrors that have often been fomented by it against Black citizens and others, but it did so in a way that revealed how truly revolting and devastating it can be.  Similarly, in Canada, the discovery of the bodies of 215 indigenous children who had been “lost” during the residential school era brought to public consciousness the horrors of a system that had decimated whole communities for decades. These revelations (and several others over the past few days) were so explosive and dramatic that there can be no stepping back from the realities that were brought to light, and the implications of those realities. And so a new “creation sequence” begins . . .

As we go through this Chuwen trecena we are working with the energies that were seen historically (and mythologically) as the “Creation” sequence in the Maya Calendar – when the “world” itself was brought into being. And, as it happened, two cycles ago this trecena was the one that was in place at the beginning of 2020 – it was the first full trecena of 2020 – and we all know what that brought in.

The first day is One Chuwen, the Day of the Monkey. You might think of this as a day governed by a playful, inventive, agile, and capricious Monkey deity who sits at the centre of the Tree of Life and gets to decide how he’s going to weave together the threads of creation as he orchestrates the proliferation of life. This is the key mid-point within the overall 260-day cycle, marking the beginning of the mythological “Creation” sequence of energies, when all things of heaven and earth were made.

This tends to be a highly creative time frame, where almost anything is possible. At times it can be highly play oriented, but with the God of Pulque as the principal patron of this 13 day period, the potential for “reckless abandon” can also be a factor. Certainly that seemed to be the case in January of 2020, when the coronavirus was breaking out. As happened at that time, this creation sequence of days was calling on everyone to think and act differently – and certainly the world has changed dramatically since then. And now that call can be heard again – with the emphasis, at this time, being on healing, on multiple levels. Fortunately, pulque was seen as a medicine as well as an intoxicant, and “healing through creativity” will continue to be an important theme during this period.

Adaptation of the Chuwen (Monkey) trecena from the pre-Columbian Codex Borgia by artist Richard Balthazar (used with permission). The first day (One Chuwen/One Monkey) is found at the lower left (looks like the face of a monkey). The other days of this trecena proceed from there to the right, and then up to the upper right, to the little temple, which represents Ak’b’al. The daysign numbers in this image are not shown, but implied. The larger image at the top, on the right, is a depiction of Patecatl, the God of Medicine, Healing, and Fertility, Lord of the Pulque Root, patron of this time period. The curious figure on the right likely represents the 400 Rabbits who were seen as the gods of drunkenness.

The first day, the Day of the Monkey, was seen in Maya mythology as the day when the Creator “raised himself to his divinity after he had made heaven and earth”, which coincides at this time with World Oceans Day, drawing attention to the importance of the oceans and the need to protect them, especially from plastics and pollutants.

This is followed by Two Eb’, when, mythologically, the first “stairway” was created that descended from the heavens, followed by three more days (3 B’en through to 5 Men), when more of the “other things” of the heavens, the seas, and the earth were made. Currently the “activating” energy of 3 B’en (June 10th) is of particular importance as Mercury and the Sun are coming into a rare alignment with the Three Hearthstone Place, the cosmic “place of origin” or “hearth”, from Maya mythology, located in the Orion nebula, approx. 1350 light-years from Earth.

The “three hearthstones” area in the Orion constellation, cropped from an image by Mouser, CC BY-SA, via Wikimedia Commons. The bright spot in the middle of this image would be the nebula known as M42 (see diagram to the right) that was seen as Maya cosmic place of origin.

In Maya legend this is where the gods used lightning to start a “New Fire” – a new 5,125 year creation cycle – in 3114 BC. That was the start of the Great Cycle of time that came to an end on Dec. 21, 2012. We are now almost nine years into the next Great Cycle. But even within the context of modern astronomy this location in the Orion Nebula has come to be seen as a kind of “stellar nursery” where vast numbers of new stars and solar systems are being forged from enormous clouds of gas and dust. So the fact that this alignment is coming into place on this “activation of personal authority” day, at the time of the Sun/Mercury alignment and a New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse (see 3 B’en below for further info.) seems significant – particularly since the world is in crisis on so many levels – and much of that has unfolded since Dec. 21, 2012.

This wide-field view of the Orion Nebula (Messier 42), lying about 1350 light-years from Earth, was taken with the VISTA infrared survey telescope at ESO’s Paranal Observatory in Chile. The new telescope’s huge field of view allows the whole nebula and its surroundings to be imaged in a single picture and its infrared vision also means that it can peer deep into the normally hidden dusty regions and reveal the curious antics of the very active young stars buried there. Note that 3 B’en was the energy in place in 1933 when Franklin D. Roosevelt was inaugurated as the 32nd President of the U.S. His “New Deal” policies greatly helped to pull that country out of the Great Depression. Hopefully this energy will help President Biden to steer his way through the turbulent waters that are threatening democracy at this time, so that some new “way of being” (or new way of living) can be forged that is much less divisive than what has been going on under the manic influence of the “twice-impeached loser” (as MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell likes to put it) who has fomented chaos for much, much too long. [Stephen Colbert’s viewers also came up with a variety of names including Meathead, Girth Vader, and the “Traffic Cone of Treason” but “twice-impeached loser” pretty well sums it up.]

It is noteworthy that 160 years ago it was the fifth day of this time frame when the opening shots of the U.S. Civil war were fired. During the summer of 1959 it was the same fifth day of this trecena when the first American soldiers were killed in Vietnam.

Despite the dumpster’s efforts to keep the “fires of hell” stoked among his followers, President Biden is moving along with his widespread plans and, among many other things, has done a great deal to curtail the spead of the pandemic in the US. Over 50% of Americans have been partially vaccinated by this time and Biden has designated June as a “month of action” – a push to get least 70% of US adults partially vaccinated and 160 million fully vaccinated by July 4th. During this trecena Biden will be taking part in the G7 summit in the UK, meeting with Queen Elizabeth, and meeting with Putin.

The sixth day of this sequence, known as Six Kib’, is the point where the “first light” came into being during the Maya creation sequence. Three cycles ago, in April of 2019, that was what happened when former Vice-President Joe Biden announced his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election under this influence, when he came to the conclusion that “enough was enough” with regard to the orange menace’s support for violent extremists. On that day a group of psychiatrists completed a report in which they detailed how the dumpster’s “reckless” response to the Mueller report “shows that he is unable to rationally process risk, making him a danger to the entire nation” as they called for a full evaluation of his mental state by a non-governmental, independent and non-Partisan panel that would include psychiatrists, neurologists and internists. Since that has still not happened – and he is still “out there” – it may be that the criminal investigations against him will be the avenues for finally bringing an end to this gross debacle.

Translating as “self-generating movement”, the day known as Seven Kab’an, at the mid-point of this trecena, is an Earth-oriented energy that often can be highly action-oriented and even “earth-shaking”, as it was one cycle ago when the global number of deaths from Covid-19 reached one million. By then vaccine development was in high gear on a number of fronts and people were beginning to anticipate forthcoming immunization programs.

Another important 10 Ajaw Burner Day comes in on June 17th, which also has a tendency to be intense as this energy was seen traditionally as being oriented around the idea of “taking the fire”, in conjunction with Ajaw’s “full sun” energy. This day has an almost mythic quality to it, and more about this will be included in the Podcast.

In deep mythology the day known as Twelve Ik’ was seen as the day in which the breath of life was created. This is a “collecting together” type of force associated with Wind, Breath, and Spirit, which can be strongly aligned with communication. This is often a day when important information is revealed.

Thirteen Ak’bal (“transformational temple or house”), the final day of the trecena, is referred to in the Maya creation legend as the calendrical energy that brought forth the creation of the first humans. Another very high-powered force, this is an energy that can be highly consequential in terms of the fate of the human race as a whole. Three cycles ago (in April of 2019) the appearance of 13 Ak’b’al was nail-biting for the many who were following the crisis in Washington at that time. It was being referred to as the worst constitutional crisis since the civil war, resulting from the stonewalling and obstruction of justice on the part of the dumpster White House in response to the release of the Mueller report. And now, even though he’s out, the manic perpetuation of the BIG LIE by the dumpster and far too many Republicans is now threatening not only voting rights but democracy itself. So the nail-biting continues.

The last time this energy was in place (last October) the global number of coronavirus cases had reached over 35 million, the dumpster was encouraging “super-spreader” events, and vaccination programs had not yet begun. That was when we were paralleling (energy-wise) the overall energies that were in place in 1968, often referred to as “the year that shattered America”, as that was the year when civil rights and human rights issues, and anti-war activism “exploded” into being. We are now paralleling energies that were in place in 1969.

As events of the past have revealed, this Chuwen trecena can often present the kinds of challenges that require individuals to think differently, to try out new ideas, and to push forward into new, and even unorthodox, directions. Often those challenges begin to appear or are intensified during the previous trecena, as when the first inkling of a deadly coronavirus began to appear just before this Chuwen trecena came into place at the beginning of 2020. In the US the last trecena revealed, in addition to the Tulsa situation, that democracy itself is in crisis, in no large part because the orange menace is still dangerously thrashing around, spreading of the BIG LIE to the point that people are in danger of losing their right to vote, and important legislation is being blocked in Congress by those who have bought into that lie. Other countries are grappling with similar issues, such as in Peru and Mexico where the balance of power is razor thin after recent elections, and in Israel where Netanyahu is vowing to topple the coalition that is poised to replace him. So there are many things demanding attention at this time, and many will require the creation of new ways of thinking and being in order to move forward.

With regard to this Chuwen trecena, historically this has been seen as a very special time frame that encompasses the kinds of extraordinary forces that are able to weave together the threads of time itself. This is the energy sequence that magically created the winal (the 20-day cycle that is a fundamental part of the 260-day Tzolk’in), so it associated with great artistry and creativity.  Fortunately, Patecatl, the God of Medicine and Lord of the medicinal Pulque, is a key patron of this particular time frame, so this symbolizes the emphasis on healing – or at least points the way for healing to begin. This also ties in well with the creative forces that are associated with this sequence of days.

As noted the last time this was in place, and bears repeating now, this planet is still very much in crisis and “all hands on deck” are still needed. But hundreds of thousands of people worldwide are answering the call and finding creative ways to contribute. And the energies in place during this trecena can be very helpful in the forging of a “new world”. Here are the energies that will come into play:

1 Chuwen (June 8th) – the Maya Day of the Monkey, an “initiating” day associated with high creativity and the beginning of an important new time sequence, coinciding at this time with UN’s
World Oceans Day, on this third day of World Oceans Week. The theme for World Oceans Day
2021 is “The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods”, the global day to create awareness of and appreciation for the oceans that cover over 70% of Earth’s surface and the extraordinary array of life and bounty within it. Due to the pandemic this will be the UN’s second virtual celebration of this event.

Tied in with this is the 30×30 project, a movement calling for world leaders to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030, with the idea being that by safeguarding at least 30% of our ocean through a network of highly protected areas we can help ensure a healthy home for all! This project points to the report by the World Economic Forum that states that unless the pressing issue of ocean pollution is addressed urgently “there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050”. The sinking of a container ship and the related spilling of tonnes of plastic pellets and chemicals off the coast of Sri Lanka a few days ago underscores the desperate need for urgency in this regard.

This is also World Pet Memorial Day, a special day to remember all the wonderful animal companions that have graced our lives – and all those “out there” who would desperately love to find “furever” homes and people to take care of them.

By this point it has been seven cycles since it was reported that Russian government operatives had hacked into the DNC in the US in June of 2016, precipitating the Wikileaks release of confidential documents shortly thereafter, which, in turn, triggered the disastrous upset for Hillary Clinton during the November election.

As of this day it has been one cycle exactly (260 days) since prosecutors from Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr.’s office made it clear that their investigations could encompass potential tax crimes on the part of the dumpster’s company, which would include falsification of business records, insurance fraud, and criminal tax fraud. A grand jury is now in place and witnesses are being questioned in this regard.

This is former US President Ronald Reagan’s Maya birth energy.

2 Eb’ (June 9th) – “dynamic animating vitality”, in Maya mythology the energy that was in place when the first “stairway” was created that descended from the heavens “when the world was being created”; the energy that was in place last year when world leaders met electronically as UN Sec-General Antonio Guterres opened the UN General Assembly’s first virtual “general debate”.

In 1965 this was the energy in place when President Lyndon Johnson’s gave his historic “We Shall Overcome” speech, when he addressed a joint session of Congress and presented a strong argument for the passage of a Voting Rights Act that would allow African Americans to vote. In that speech he officially recognized the Civil Rights movement and ruled that the Civil Rights march from Selma to Montgomery could legally take place.

Currently this energy marks two Calendar Rounds (2 x 52 years) since the establishment of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) on the Western front of WWI in early July of 1917, under the command of General Pershing.

3 B’en (June 10th) – the “activation” of personal authority – a VERY special day from an
astronomical perspective, and from the perspective of Maya mythology, as this is the day of the Sun conjunct Mercury transit known as a Cazimi (Mercury “in the heart of the sun”) which is also in alignment with the Three Hearthstone Place, the place of origin identified in Classic Maya inscriptions.

Maya hieroglyph for the First Three-Stone Place, referring to the “Three Hearthstones”

In Maya mythology the stars Alnitak, Saiph, and Rigel that form a triangular asterism demarcating the Orion Nebula, were seen as the three stones of the cosmic hearth, the stones of creation that, to the ancient Maya, were associated with the birth of the sun, and even with the birth of life itself. Even today this alignment is often replicated in the three hearthstones often found in Maya homes. The idea of this alignment coming into place at the time of a Cazimi, on the third day of this “Creation” trecena suggests that this could be a day of great importance, not just globally, but also personally – for individuals, particularly with regard to communication, and for the “activation” of personal potential.

Intriguingly, this is Ascension Day in Eastern Christianity, a Feast Day in the Greek Orthodox Church, commemorating the ascension into heaven of Jesus. At this time there will also be a New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse, when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, which astrologers see as being super-potent. This is the day when Prince Philip, had he lived a few weeks longer, would have celebrated his 100th birthday as the longest-serving royal consort in history.

In 1933 this was the energy in place at the time of the first inauguration of Franklin D. Roosevelt as the 32nd U.S. President, during which he uttered the immortal words: “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself–nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance”.

One cycle ago, last September, this was the energy in place when the beloved human rights advocate, “warrior for gender equality”, and “national treasure” Ruth Bader Ginsburg lay in repose at the US Supreme Court so that members of the public could pay their respects. The personal authority aspect of this day ties in perfectly with the “supreme authority” that will always be associated with her memory and legacy.

4 Ix (June 11th) – a “defining” energy associated with the jaguar and the mysteries of the earth, one of the four energies at the centre of the Aztec Sun Stone, coinciding at this time with the start of the 47th G7 summit, hosted by the UK in St. Ives, Cornwall, which takes place over three days. This marks one cycle exactly since the US Senate unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful transition of power in the wake of the dumpster’s refusal to do so if he lost the election, even though the dumpster refused to commit to it. Which begs the question – has the GOP completely forgotten about that resolution, or do they not think that that commitment applies to all the days that were to follow the transition?

5 Men (June 12th) – a “targeting” or precision-oriented type of energy associated with the Eagle’s “higher vision”, coinciding at this time with the Trooping the Colours ceremony in London.  Traditionally this historic ceremony would involve over 1400 officers and men of Queen Elizabeth’s personal guards who would go on parade with some 200 horses, at the time of the official celebration of the Sovereign’s birthday. However, due to the pandemic, this will be scaled back again this year, and only one company will be trooped, at Windsor Castle.

In 1958 this was the energy in place when the first women took their seats in the House of Lords in the UK. One cycle ago this was the day when Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a passionate advocate for women’s rights and civil liberties, became the first woman to lie in state in National Statuary Hall at the US Capitol, in a tribute reserved for the most distinguished government officials and military officers, after a formal ceremony in the morning. A few days later there was private interment for her at Arlington National Cemetery.

This was the energy in place 160 years ago, as of early April in 1861, when the opening shots that started the “main events” of the American Civil War took place at Fort Sumpter.

6 Kib’ (June 13th) – a “stabilizing” type of energy that can force one to “think differently”, often triggering some kind of “restoration of order”; the energy that brought in the “first light” during the creation sequence in Maya mythology – coinciding at this time with the last day of the G7 summit, and the day when President Biden will meet with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle, exactly three cycles after he announced his candidacy for the presidency on April 25, 2019.

This is also St. Anthony’s Feast Day, a popular Catholic celebration of a saint sometimes known as the Wonder-worker, the patron saint for the recovery of lost things. Also known as the marriage saint, he has been recognized in legends as facilitating reconciliations. Celebrations in his honour will be held in many places worldwide at this time – perhaps to seek his help in the global effort to recovery health, peace, stability and humanity.

7 Kab’an (June 14th) – “self-generating movement”, an energy that, in the past, has accompanied a great deal of Earth-oriented action and movement, the deadline day for the new Israeli coalition to ratify the new government, ousting Netanyahu.

Traditionally this was seen as the day in the Maya mythological creation sequence when honey was first created. Currently it is the day when the leaders of NATO’s 30 member countries gather for a summit in Brussels.

In 2010 this energy coincided with the 10/10/10 Global Work Party, the “largest day of environmental activism in history”, as 7,000 community events in 188 countries became “environmental campaigners” who planted trees, collected rubbish and “rallied against pollution”

8 Etz’nab’ (June 15th) – the “resurrection of flint” – a knife-edged energy that can often be quite divisive or decisive, marking one Calendar Round since the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion in New York – a series of violent demonstrations by members of the LGBT community in response to a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in Greenwich Village. This raid triggered a three day riot where 400-1000 patrons rioted against police – a situation that triggered the movement towards building a more cohesive community for people in the gay community. This has been seen as “the Rosa Parks moment for gay rights”, the event that gave birth to the gay rights movement.

A 1969 police raid here led to the Stonewall riots, one of the most important events in the history of LGBT rights (and the history of the United States). Note that it has been three cycles exactly, since April in 2019, since WAPO factcheckers reported that they had found that the dumpster had made 10,000 false or misleading claims. By July of 2020 that number had risen to close to 20,000 untrue or misleading statements – and that was well before the BIG LIE that has hung over his head since he lost the election – the BIG LIE that has spread to his enablers, and has been polluting the political landscape in the US for the past few months.

9 Kawak (June 16th) – “outward projecting storm”; a possibility for significant weather events or for situations requiring great compassion, at the time when President Biden will be meeting with President Putin in Geneva. One cycle before this, in 2020, this was the energy in place when the first chaotic “debate” between Joe Biden and the dumpster took place, which CNN’s Jake Tapper called “a dumpster fire”, because of the dumpster’s constant interruptions, his lying, and his maliciously attacks. The US anti-defamation league was furious about the debate because the dumpster not only refused to condemn white supremacy but instead incited it. Fingers crossed that Presdient Biden’s discussion with Putin will go better than that debate did one cycle ago.

Currently this marks six head-shaking Gregorian years since the Orange Destroyer announced his candidacy in 2015 as he began his campaign to grind down democracy.
This would be a good time to send LOTS and LOTS of positive energy to President Biden.

10 Ajaw (June 17th) – “foundational Sun” – an important Burner Day aligned with “taking the fire” in conjunction with Ajaw’s “full sun” energy

It has been two cycles exactly since a mysterious burst of gravitational waves (distortions in space-time) hit our planet in January of 2020. Although it only lasted for 14 milliseconds it baffled astronomers as they have been unable to find the source. Could this be the reason why everything has been so incredibly surreal ever since? (:

This is the Maya birth energy of both Michael Cohen, the dumpster’s former personal lawyer who is now being highly cooperative in terms of current investigations, and James Comey, the former FBI director who has been one of the key figures in the controversies relating to the 2016 U.S. presidential election. In 2019 this was the energy in place when Joe Biden kicked off his presidential campaign with a rally in Pittsburg.

11 Imix (June 18th) – “inspirational new birth” (realm of all potential), on Paul McCartney’s 79th Gregorian birthday; in 1864 this was the energy in place when Abraham Lincoln was re-elected as the US president.

World Unity Week begins on 12 Ik’ (June 19th), when world healing is certain to be one of the main topics. Photo by Anna Shvets, Pexels

12 Ik’ (June 19th) – a “dedicated” type of force associated with wind, breath, and spirit, coinciding at this time with the start of World Unity Week (June 19-26), an eight-day online celebration of global unity oriented around taking collective action around topics such as climate action, human rights, disarmament, justice, and healing, by forming partnerships for peace and global governance towards sustainable and regenerative development and interfaith and interracial harmony. This ties in well with the nature of 12 Ik’, which is an excellent energy for conferencing or “putting heads together” to develop or share ideas, to “rally round” an idea or issue, and to make voices heard.

This is also Juneteenth, known as African American Emancipation Day, as the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the US was on June 19th in 1865.

Maya birth energy of highly versatile veteran actor Al Pacino.

13 Ak’b’al (June 20th) As the last day of this “creation sequence” trecena, this is a powerful transformation-oriented energy aligned with “darkness” and deep esoteric mysteries – a force that can be highly consequential. Translating as “temple”, “house”, and sometimes “darkness”, this 13 Ak’b’al force is a powerful earth-oriented energy, as was in place in 1862 when President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, exactly one 260-day cycle after the resignation of Robert E. Lee from the Union Army before he become a commander of the Confederate army.

Currently this coincides with Summer Solstice, Father’s Day, American Eagle Day, and the U.N.’s World Refugee Day, with this year’s theme being: “Together we heal, learn, and shine. Access to health care and medical support saves lives.” States of emergency in Tokyo and several other areas in Japan are due to come to an end at this time, prior to the Olympics beginning in July.

In India this is the start of the auspicious Ganga Dussehra festival, at which time it is said that one can get salvation from sins or achieve Moksha (liberation) by taking a dip in the Ganges River, which is seen as the incarnation of the Goddess Ganga. However, many Ganga Dussehra celebrations will again be cancelled due to the pandemic as it would still be highly problematic for thousands to descend on this river at this time. Conducting some other form of purification would be a safer alternative.

This is an energy that often brings forth severe weather conditions.
