By this time many people may be feeling like they need some splash-time in a pool, a shower under a waterfall, or perhaps even a good long soak in a hot tub, just to let some soothing water splash over them after all the tense see-sawing that took place during the last trecena. But, for many, that will not be an option as they will have no choice but to deal “head-on” with an abundance of water, particularly in areas such as the Caribbean, as an intense hurricane barrels through the region, and in New Mexico where devastating flash floods are inundating areas such as Ruidoso which was battling horrific wildfires just a week ago. It has become a convergence of two weather extremes as debris from the widespread fires is being washed down roadways by torrential rains. Streets are being turned into raging rivers.

Much of this seems to be “on track” as this is the Muluk, or Water, trecena. While it has been known to foment floods, dramatic water rescues, and even some of the world’s largest hurricanes, this trecena has also been known to bring forth developments that have been significantly “healing” or transformative in positive ways. Keep in mind that water is the ultimate shapeshifter, and as much as it can be turbulent at times, it can also be calm, tranquil and highly supportive of life. It can also be significantly cleansing, with the capacity to “wash away” stagnation and disorder. But it doesn’t necessarily do so in a calm and gentle manner.

From the perspective of ancient Mesoamerican mythology, this trecena was seen as having the potential to be massively life-changing through the infusion of an often “electrifying” energy sequence that was seen traditionally as being under the patronage of a deity known as Chalchiuhtolin, the jade or “jewelled” turkey, a symbol of magic, abundance, ultimate authority, and even sorcery. This complex deity has been associated with darkness, disease, and even the plague, but in his turkey form, as overseer of this time frame, he also has the power to cleanse and to eradicate pestilence. The great “watery” Feathered Serpent also provides support, so this creates a generative “firewater” kind of force representative of the original creation forces that sparked life. These forces have been known to open the door to many new and exciting possibilities. They have also been known to trigger major shifts in direction, even to the point of significantly altering personal lives or changing the world, like they did in the spring of 2020 when an estimated one-third of the world was in lockdown mode, and people everywhere were scrambling to sort out how to deal with the rapidly changing situations being triggered by the global pandemic.

Then, by the end of that year, one cycle later, another major shift took place and suddenly vaccine programs were underway, with the very first day of this trecena being V-Day in the UK, the start of the biggest ever vaccination program. That was the day when Joe Biden pledged to distribute 100 million vaccine shots in the first 100 days of his presidency. That was one Gregorian year after one of the first cases of coronavirus was detected in Wuhan, China. One cycle after the start of that UK program Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine program was picking up steam after receiving full approval from the US FDA – the first one to be fully licensed in the US (although, as noted below, emergency use had been granted one cycle earlier). Note, as well, that the first day of this trecena in 2010 was when President Obama signed his Affordable Care Act into law in the US.

As we embark on this current trecena, the situation in the Middle East remains dire, the war in Ukraine is nearing its 860th day, shape-shifting elections are taking place in France and the UK, and the US is in crisis mode after a disastrous debate between two candidates that many in the country are hardpressed to support, and unfathomable Supreme Court rulings that are threatening the very foundations of democracy.

But as much as things can be dramatic during this period, many inspirational events have also occurred, with 4 Eb’ (the 4th day) often figuring prominently. This energy, representative of a solar force in combination with Eb’s “animating vitality”, tends to manifest as an uplifting, refreshing type of force marked by a sense of the opening up of new possibilities. This is what was in place in June of 1965 when the first spacewalk took place, and then again in 1968 when the “Earthrise” photo was taken from Apollo 8, becoming the iconic first photograph taken by a human of Earth from Deep Space.

Five cycles ago (in Dec. of 2020) this was the energy in place when the 538 members of the electoral college in the US cast their ballots to officially confirm Joe Biden’s win as President-elect.  That was when the US FDA granted emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s vaccine, which enabled widespread vaccination programs to begin in the U.S. At that time the U.S. Supreme Court denied the GOP’s effort to block election results in four states, with that effort to block the results seen by many as being representative of the “moral and ethical bankruptcy of the Republican party”, the “death-knell of decency”. While it has been a continuous downward spiral for Republicans ever since, that particular decision on that 4 Eb’ day was highly consequential in terms of the saving of democracy. That was the day when Congressman Jamie Raskin hit the nail on the head when he described the Republican party as being “like a massive religious cult surrounding an organised crime family headed by a deranged narcissist”. And that was before the insurrection!

Twelve years earlier, in 2008, it was the Maya energy of 4 Eb’ that was in place when Barack Obama became the first African-American to win the U.S. presidential election. In April of 2015, this same energy brought forth the historic nuclear reduction agreement with Iran, which was seen as a significant political breakthrough, the most important foreign relations negotiation of the Obama presidency up to that point.

In December of 2015 it was the first day of this trecena that brought the release of the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, on the findings from several years worth of investigation into the residential school abuses inflicted on tens of thousands of indigenous children in Canada. That was when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada would work with leaders of First Nations, the Métis Nation, Inuit, provinces and territories, and other key partners, to design a national engagement strategy for developing and implementing a national reconciliation framework, informed by the Commission’s recommendations. Since then a number of important legislative actions have been taken, but a great deal still remains to be done.

So as we go through this period, many generative, life-enhancing forces will be in play, “battling” against the darkness, and opening up new avenues to bring forth purification and refreshment. But many intense water-oriented shifts will also be in action. As always, this would be a great time to go to a river or a lake or an ocean and give thanks for the waters of this earth, and pledge, once again, to protect them. During this watery, shapeshifting, purifying – and potentially even electrifying – time frame these are the energies that will come into play:

1 Muluk (June 30th) – “the initiation of water (purification)” – a kind of “double water” day associated with the Moon Goddess (symbolic of water and the Number One) in conjunction with the shape-shifting energy of water, which is coinciding with the acceleration of Tropical Storm Beryl into a full blown hurricane by this time as it heads towards the Caribbean Sea.

Within the 260-day cycle, One Muluk is an important 52-day Shift-point that often brings forth dramatic shifts in state as new pathways for action begin opening up, as could be seen four cycles ago when thousands of people were being rapidly evacuated from Kabul airport in Afghanistan. As that was happening the Jan. 6th committee in the US Capitol was getting down to business with its investigation of the Jan. 6th attack.

Currently this is the day of annual Pride parades in many places, including in Toronto, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle. The Rolling Stones will also be performing in Chicago at this time, so this will definitely be “party weekend” for many in that city.

In France the first round of a snap presidential election is being held at this time.

This marks five cycles exactly since Covid-19 vaccination programs began in England, Scotland, and Wales and several other countries. That came precisely one cycle after the UK and many other countries began nation-wide lockdowns in March of 2020. That was when António Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, appealed for an immediate global ceasefire, calling for an end to all armed conflicts so that the world could instead focus on fighting the rapidly advancing coronavirus. Obviously that appeal fell on deaf ears.

Three cycles ago, as the White House hosted the second Global Covid-19 Summit, the flag over the White House was flying at half-mast in remembrance of the more than one million deaths lost to Covid in the U.S. This time that flag should be flying at half-mast to mourn the death of democracy at the hands of the former president and the recent Supreme Court decisions.

2 Ok (July 1st) – a dynamic yin/yang type of force relating to love, warmth, guidance, and loyalty (symbolized by the Maya glyph for Dog), coinciding at this time with Canada Day, with “mainstage” celebrations taking place in Ottawa, and local events taking place all across the country. This would have been Princess Diana’s 63rd Gregorian birthday.

In Japan this is the opening day of Kyoto’s Gion Matsuri, one of the most famous festivals in Japan that spans the entire month of July. Its roots date back to 869 when the people of Kyoto held a festival to pray for respite from a plague that had befallen the city. In India this is National Doctors’ Day, to honour the legendary physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.

In Hong Kong this is Establishment Day, the 27th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong’s sovereignty from the UK to the People’s Republic of China. This day used to be marked by fireworks and a huge march led by the Civil Human Rights Front, but that was prior to China’s crackdown on civil rights.

This marks six cycles exactly since the US Surgeon General strongly urged everyone in the US to stay at home as the pandemic was firmly taking hold. It was a time for people to make many radical changes as so many adjustments were needed in daily lives in the interest of keeping people safe.

This will be another tense and consequential day in the US as this is the day when the US Supreme Court will render a decision with regard to the presidential immunity question. This ruling will be pivotal to how Trump cases such as the Jan. 6th case and the classified documents case will move forward. This is also the day when the dumpster’s former advisor and campaign manager Bannon will report to prison, after his appeal was denied.

In 1815 this was the energy in place when Napoléon re-entered Paris and briefly resumed power, before his final defeat three months later, at Waterloo. Something to keep in mind with regard to the energy “echoes” that tend to play out?

3 Chuwen (July 2nd) – the “activation” of creativity; an important “time-weaving” type of energy that can often bring forth powerful shifts, coinciding at this time with World UFO Day, with its goal of raising awareness about “the undoubted existence of UFOs”, and to encourage people to look to the skies for unidentified flying objects. However, with so much space debris flying around this planet, one might ask: Why would anyone from “elsewhere” want to come to a planet that has allowed such a thing to happen? Just five days before this, the disintegration of a defunct Russian satellite, in orbit near the Space Station, forced astronauts on the ISS to take shelter in their spacecrafts in case an emergency departure might be needed, due to the debris that was created. Even NASA has admitted that LEO (low Earth orbit) is “an orbital junk yard” and is now saying that “it’s time to take out the trash”.

During this evening Rachel Maddow will be interviewing Stormy Daniels on MSNBC, during which time viewers will likely learn much more about the circumstances that led up to that hush money trial. Note that the following day marks two cycles since the grand jury began hearing evidence in that regard. This is also Rachel’s Maya birth energy. Happy Maya birthday Rachel!

In 1929 this was the energy in place on Black Tuesday, when investors traded some 16 million shares on the New York Stock Exchange in a single day at the time of the Wall Street crash.  In 2011 this was the energy in place when the action thriller called Contagion was released, depicting the rapid spread of a virus to cities around the globe.

4 Eb’ (July 3rd) – the “defining of animating vitality” – an uplifting, refreshing type of energy that often brings a sense of new possibilities, often highly eventful.

Back in 1968 this was the energy in place when the “Earthrise” photo was taken from Apollo 8 as it orbited the moon. That was the first photo of Earth from the perspective of the moon – one of the most famous photos ever taken, which, according to Al Gore, kicked off the modern environmental movement. Five cycles earlier, in 1965, Ed White made the first space walk by a U.S. astronaut under this same energy influence. In 2009 this was in place when a particularly special Solar Eclipse took place, due to its totality. In 2014 this energy brought forth an agreement on the framework for an historic nuclear reduction agreement with Iran, seen as the most important foreign relations negotiation of the Obama presidency.

Two cycles ago, early last year, New York prosecutors began presenting their case to a grand jury with regard to the dumpster’s falsification of records relating to hush money payments. He was found Guilty on 34 criminal counts in that trial, on May 30th, and will be sentenced during this trecena, on July 11th.

The day when those prosecutors began presenting their case to a grand jury at day was the day when the WHO said that the coronavirus still remains a global health emergency.

5 B’en (July 4th) – the “blessing of personal authority”, coinciding at this time with the general election in the UK (for Prime Minister), and with Independence day celebrations in the U.S. Back in 1796 this was the energy in place at the time of George Washington’s farewell address. This time people may be saying farewell to democracy – unless they figure out how to save it!  Hurricane Beryl could be slamming into the Yucatan peninsula by this time.

It has now been six cycles since U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke at the first joint video briefing for the 193 U.N. member nations, at the launch of the U.N.’s COVID-19 Communications for Solidarity Initiative to rapidly inform people about facts and science, “and promote and inspire acts of humanity around the world.” This also marks five cycles since Congress in the US passed a $2 trillion stimulus package to help people affected by the pandemic.

This is the Maya birth energy of Dr. Li Wenliang, the Chinese doctor who issued the first warning about the coronavirus in the early days of the outbreak, who later died of it. He is now honoured as one of the Heroes of the pandemic.

6 Ix (July 5th) – the energy of the six directions in conjunction with the jaguar (and Jaguar Warrior) and the fate of the earth, coinciding with the New Moon, the opening of the highly acclaimed Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Rolling Stones concert in Vancouver. It is also the opening day for the Calgary Stampede, billed as “the greatest outdoor show on Earth”, which was almost cancelled, due to a water main crisis in early June.

At this time Venezuela is celebrating their Independence Day (Cinco de Julio) and Armed Forces Day, on the 213th anniversary of its declaration of autonomy from Spanish rule. (Venezuela became the first independent country in South America.) Unfortunately, the dispute over the leadership of that country continues as Venezuela’s socialist party has continued to hold onto power.

This 6 Ix energy, which is now marking five cycles exactly since Covid-19 vaccines first arrived in Canada, is the Maya birth energy of Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett – the immunologist who played a key role in developing the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. This is also the Dalai Lama’s 89th Gregorian birthday.

7 Men (July 6th) – a “self-generating” type of energy associated with the Eagle’s “higher vision”, marking five Tzolk’in cycles since the Electoral College in the US voted to formalize Joe Biden’s win as President-elect in 2020. That was the day when coronavirus vaccines began to be distributed and administered in both the US and Canada.

The last time this was in place (last October) the Biden administration submitted a $106bn request to Congress for military and humanitarian aid for Israel and Ukraine and humanitarian assistance for Gaza, insisting lawmakers had an obligation to support US allies standing up to tyranny and aggression worldwide. Congress had to fight among themselves about this for several months before the aid began to be sent, due to the complete disarray and lack of leadership in the Republican party.

This evening also marks the start of Islamic New Year celebrations, aka the Hijri New Year, at the time of the first sighting of the waxing crescent moon.

8 Kib’ (July 7th) – the “resurrection” of the transmutation oriented force that can lead towards the restoration of order, coinciding with the full day of the Islamic New Year, also known as the Arabic New Year, the beginning of the first month in the Islamic calendar which is used to calculate significant Islamic events for the year. In the state of Odessa in northern India this is the start of Ratha-Yatra, the oldest chariot festival in the world, usually attended by millions of devotees.  It is also World Chocolate Day, Japan’s Star Festival (Tanabata) day, and rock legend Ringo Starr’s 84th birthday. Happy Birthday Ringo!

In France this is the day for second, and final, round of voting in its parliamentary elections, with many across Europe highly concerned about the potential rise of far-right nationalists. This election is seen as a big gamble for President Macron, so many will be “holding their breath” as results are tallied. This marks four cycles exactly since Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy first met with President Biden at the White House, and three cycles since Sweden and Finland officially applied to join NATO. Both countries have now been accepted as full members.

9 Kab’an (July 8th) – representative of “outwardly-projecting” longevity in connection with the earth and evolutionary movement, where there can be long range implications for actions. This is coinciding with the “seating” of the Maya month known as the Xul, symbolized by both a dog and a baby jaguar, but also traditionally associated with Kukulcan (known as Quetzalcoatl to the Aztec), the great Feathered Serpent, who was thought to descend from the heavens to collect offerings at the end of this Maya month. By extension, the combination of these symbols also suggests that the Classic Maya “Hero Twins” are also aligned with this month. As Xul can also translate as “end”, it might be interesting to see what kind of “endings” might be coming into view as this month-related (Xul) energy runs through to July 27th.

10 Etz’nab’(July 9th) – foundational “flint”; an intense sparkling, “knife-edged”, “flash-point” type of energy that can either dazzle or divide and separate, coinciding with the opening of the 75th NATO summit, in Washington DC.

Back in 1861, this was the energy in place when President Abraham Lincoln addressed the U.S. Congress in his call for 500,000 militia for the Civil War. It is now looking like that war never really ended.

11 Kawak (July 10th) – inspirational “storm of compassion”, marking six cycles precisely since early April of 2020 when the global number of Covid-19 cases passed the one million mark. Overall the death tally has been over 7 million. It is also marking 5 cycles since that looney-tunes, bonkers meeting at the White House in Dec. 2020 when the dumpster and his cronies were plotting ways to overturn the US election results.

12 Ajaw (July 11th) – a “gathering together” force aligned with the full sun and “enlightenment”, a day that often sheds light on human conditions, coinciding at this time with the dumpster’s sentencing in the hush money case (unless this also gets delayed, due to that Supreme Court decision). He was found guilty on 34 counts on May 30th.

This is the 35th anniversary of World Population Day, which was established through the United Nations Development Program in 1989 when the world’s population was considerably less than it is now. It had reached 5 billion two years earlier, and is now well over 8 billion.

It has now been three cycles since the day-long Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Le Estcwicwéy (The Missing) memorial commemoration in Kamloops that marked the first anniversary of the discovery of the graves of 215 indigenous children at the former Kamloops Indian residential school, triggering further investigation and more searches across the country. The searches are still on-going.

13 Imix (July 12th) – “transformational birth”, another force that can be highly intense, coinciding at this time with New York’s second of the year “Full Sun on the grid” Manhattanhenge (the first was on May 29th).  This is the first anniversary of the announcement (on 11 Men) of the launch of Elon Musk’s new AI company, called xAI, with a goal of “understanding the true nature of the universe”.
