Once again the Maya Calendar’s timing is extraordinary, as the One Lamat start of this trecena, the day before the funeral of Pope Francis, is marking 17 Tzolk’in cycles exactly since his inauguration. Moreover, his One Lamat inauguration in 2013 was 88 days after Dec. 21, 2012, that highly significant “great cycle” completion date in the Maya Calendar Long Count. And Pope Francis was 88 years old at the time of his departure.

Over the past 260 days there have been massive changes on many different fronts, particularly in the U.S. It is almost hard to fathom that the “We’re not going back!” proclamations of the Harris-Walz campaign, that were ramping up so emphatically one cycle ago, prior to the 2024 election, had to quickly morph into pushback campaigns after the election. But back in August the timing for the ratcheting up of that campaign was interesting as it coincided with the Lamat trecena, which tends to herald change prior to the beginning of a new cycle, often with an emphasis on “leadership”.

Historically, this trecena was seen by ancient Mesoamerican cultures as ritualistically significant, with the first day, One Rabbit (the Aztec variant of the first day of this period), thought to have been the date in the distant mythic past when the cosmos was created by the gods. Its importance is reflected by the inclusion of a One Rabbit glyph on a number of monuments and markers, such as the back of the Aztec Coronation Stone.
This energy (known as One Lamat, aka “Star”, to the Maya) was also associated with New Fire ceremonies. Aztec priests conducting New Fire ceremonies (every 52 years) would climb the Cerro de la Estrella (Star Mountain) to conduct New Fire ceremonies in conjunction with the rise of the Pleiades. And although such ceremonies are no longer conducted, it is intriguing to see how so many events associated with renewal have just “naturally” coincided with this energy, at the beginning of this final trecena within the 260-day Tzolk’in cycle.
One Lamat, associated with Venus, was seen as the great celestial “signaller”, an energy that often heralds the need for alertness – as things are in the process of change. One of the major patrons of this trecena was known to the Aztec as Xipe Tótec, the ancient Lord of Renewal and Liberation. The other was Xiuhtecuhtli, the Lord of Fire and Time – a deity connected with time-related change, as in cycle endings.

Adaptation of the Lamat (Star, Rabbit) trecena from the pre-Columbian Codex Borgia by artist Richard Balthazar (used with permission). The first day (One Lamat or One Rabbit) is represented by the little head of a rabbit at the lower left (within the border). The other days of this trecena proceed from there to the right, and then up towards the top, to the stylized flower (Ajaw) at the upper right. The daysign numbers pertaining to this trecena (beginning with One Lamat) are not shown, but implied. The patron deities associated with this trecena are Xiuhtecuhtli, the Lord of Fire and Time (the large image on the left) and Xipe Tótec, the ancient Lord of Renewal and Liberation (the large image on the right). Click here for Richard’s various other interpretations of the same trecena.
Both of these entities are oriented around the idea of setting the stage for new beginnings. Sudden and dramatic change is not unusual during this period, particularly with regard to conflicts, and with regard to individuals in leadership positions. As noted, Pope Francis was inaugurated on One Lamat in 2013, and his funeral will take place the day after One Lamat during this current trecena.
In January of 2021, Joe Biden’s inauguration as the 46th President of the U.S. took place on the fifth day of this period, bringing an end to four years of “spiritual decay and moral decrepitude” fomented by his predecessor (as former Harvard professor Cornel West put it). Who could possibly have guessed that the whole thing would flip back again, with a vengence, four years later? Clearly people had not gotten the message in 2017 when this trecena brought forth massive protest demonstrations in dozens of US cities, in a huge call for the dumpster’s impeachment, with marchers’ signs signalling sentiments such as “Illegitimate, Corrupt Puppet”, and “Worst President Ever”.
In the deeper past this is the trecena that was in place in 1918 when Russia’s Czar Nicholas and his family were executed by Bolshevik troops, at the beginning of this time period, after being removed from Imperial power and held in captivity for several months. Thirty-five years later this energy brought forth the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, on the first day of the same trecena that saw the coronation of Queen Elizabeth I in 1559. Seven years after Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation that same One Lamat energy saw John F. Kennedy give his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention (1960) after winning the Democratic nomination for president.
In terms of this trecena as a whole, this is a time period that has precipitated a number of important “world shifting” events in the past, including the discovery of gold in California in 1848; the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, followed by the unconditional surrender of Japan at the end of World War II; the passage of the Civil Rights Act in the U.S. in 1957; the completion of the deconstruction of the Berlin Wall in 1990; the storming of Baghdad by U.S. forces in 2003; and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2014. Four cycles ago this trecena not only brought forth the “bombshell” overturning of “Roe vs. Wade” by the US Supreme Court, which traumatized millions, but also brought forth some of the most “eye-opening” testimonies in the Jan. 6th Committee’s public hearings, which vividly provided insight into the inner workings of the insurrection scheme.
Two cycles ago progress was being made in terms of the release of hostages in Gaza, as releases took place on both sides over several days during this time period, as a ceasefire was in place. At that time the focus of world attention was on the humanitarian crisis that was unfolding in Gaza, with the Palestinian death toll surpassing 14,000 people at that time, after Israel’s pummeling of Gaza. Tragically and unthinkably, the ceasefire did not last and over the last two cycles the death toll has risen to over 51,000 Palestinians. Hundreds of thousands of malnourished people are continuing to shuffle from place to place, with nowhere safe to go, and no aid allowed in, as Israel has continued its attacks. With the current administration in the US being hopelessly incompetent with regard to finding solutions to anything, Qatari and Egyptian mediators are now working on a new plan to end that war. It remains to be seen whether or not progress will be made in that regard in the context of this time frame.
In terms of the U.S., Harvard law professor Lawrence Tribe perhaps summed it up most succinctly, in conversation with Lawrence O’Donnell, when he said, a few days ago: “We are at a profound crossroad in the history of the U.S. It’s up to all of us not to give in to the tyrant.” While there are far too many issues to enumerate, it is clear to everyone that the dumpster administration’s agenda is to tear apart the fabric of society. Almost everything has been under attack over the past three months. There is debris everywhere, in almost every department, from immigration policies to attacks on education, science, health care, social services, veterans, the disabled, the elderly, the legal system – from the gutting of a multitude of governmental agencies in the U.S. to the destabilization of world economies.
But pushback is gaining strength on a daily basis, as people rise up across the country, and stalwart judges draw lines in the sand, in resistance to the diabolical machinations of the current regime. While it is impossible for anyone to predict how any of this will end, what IS certain is that the battle against evil will continue, and the shear force and will of the people will determine the outcome. While another enormous 50501 National Day of Action against the Orange Felon and his administration is scheduled to take place on May 1st, International Workers’ Day, people across the US will continue to make their voices heard on a daily basis, and this current trecena has the potential to bring forth some significant major changes on many fronts.
Keep in mind that there are powerful energies in play during this important transitional period, as this is a timeframe that tends to signal what lies ahead, setting the stage for the new directions and new beginnings that will come more fully into force during the following trecena.
This is also a particularly good time to set the stage for personal new beginnings, an excellent time to work with this trecena’s energies to “signal” your intentions as you work to make whatever adjustments might be needed to address (or push back) on shifting new realities. This is a great time to work with those “deities of renewal” who oversee this trecena – the Lord of Renewal and Liberation and the Lord of Fire and Time – who will be helping to set the foundations for the forthcoming changes. Here are the energies that will be in place:

Pope Francis was elected as pope just before the start of this trecena in 2013 and was inaugurated on One Lamat
1 Lamat (April 25th) – the “initiation of leadership”, a heralding type of energy that can point towards change or new directions, now in place on the final day of Pope Francis’s lying in state at the Vatican, as preparations are underway for his funeral the following day. Back in 2013, this energy was in place at the time his inauguration as Pope Francis I. There were 17 Tzolk’in cycles (7 x 260 days) between his inauguration and eve of his funeral.
In the distant past this was the energy (known to the Mexica as One Rabbit) that often coincided with New Fire ceremonies, associated with renewal. But even in contemporary times many important events associated with regeneration have taken place on One Lamat, as seen in 2018 when US House Democrats voted overwhelmingly to nominate Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. The last time this was in place the Harris-Walz campaign was quickly gaining momentum in the US, just after Kamala announced Tim Walz as her running mate, as large rallies were being organized in her bid to become the first female president of the US.
Indeed, this energy has often been an important marker point in terms of leadership in world history. George Washington was selected to become the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army under this influence in 1775, and Queen Elizabeth II’s elaborate coronation took place under this influence in 1953 – echoing the fact that the Aztec version of this energy (known as One Rabbit) was carved into the Aztec Coronation Stone.
In 1960 this was in place at the time of John F. Kennedy’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention after winning the Democratic nomination for president. Back in the year 1800 it was a One Lamat day when then-General Napoleon began leading his army across the Alps in his Second Italian campaign.
Four cycles ago (in 2022) this was in place at the time of the dissolution of Israel’s coalition government, when a new election was called, setting the stage for the return to power of former prime minister Netanyahu several months later. Even then this was highly problematic as this move was soon followed by intense protests against him, as could be seen three cycles ago (in March of 2023) with demonstrators often calling him the “Crime Minister”, referring to his indictments for breach of trust, accepting bribery, and fraud, as well as his plans to overhaul Israel’s judiciary. Since then he has been responsible for horrific war crimes and crimes again humanity, relating to Gaza and other atrocities, and the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for him. But the Gaza war still grinds on, as Palestinians are still being bombed, and over 50 hostages still have not been released.
Currently this is World Malaria Day, highlighting the need for continued commitment to malaria prevention and control. The theme this year is “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”. It is also Anzac Day, the national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates those who served and died in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. Anzac Day ceremonies will be held throughout those countries, and in many others, on this day.
In addition, this is Arbor Day, when people often get together to plant trees, often in memory of a loved one. Perhaps a good time to plant a tree in memory of all the good words done by Pope Francis during his long lifetime, particularly in support of the marginalized, and as a prayer for the future. If you can’t do that, this would be a good day to hug a tree, or otherwise show your appreciation for them.
Note that during this period there is often a risk of tornadoes, and current forecasts are again suggesting that tornadoes could pose a problem for southern regions in the US.
2 Muluk (April 26th) – the “dynamic shape-shifting” energy of water, coinciding at this time with the funeral for Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. This is likely to be similar to the 2005 funeral mass for Pope John Paul II, when an estimated 4 million people thronged the streets of Rome and the Vatican. Attendees included 17 reigning kings, queens, and princes, as well as 57 heads of state and leaders of the world’s religious orders. Rome came to a stand-still, as every square across the city – including the Circus Maximus – was packed. Following the funeral service, Pope Francis will be buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. At this time at least 130 foreign delegations had confirmed that they are attending.
As it happens, this is World Healing Day, which includes an amalgamation of events such as World Tai Chi and Qigong Day, World Yoga Day, World Reiki Day, and World Music Healing Day – events that will be taking place in cities in over 80 nations in order to promote global health and healing. It is also Independent Bookstore Day, World Veterinary Day (with this year’s theme being “Animal Health Takes a Team”), and National Help a Horse Day, devoted to raising awareness about the need for horse rescues and sanctuaries.
It has now been four cycles since the Jan. 6th Committee held its fourth public hearing, which focused on the dumpster’s alleged efforts to unduly influence state legislators and election officials. Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensperger and one of his top aides were called in to testify. In March of 2018 this was also in place when thousands of students participated in the National School Walkout Day protests across the US, to spur action on gun control.
This energy was also in place in August of 1977, at the time of the death of Elvis Presley.
3 Ok (April 27th) – a Burner Day representative of the “activation of fire” (or heart-fire), coinciding with the New Moon and marking the beginning of nine days of mourning and memorial liturgies for Pope Francis.
It has now been five cycles since the release, in 2021, of a lengthy report into sexual abuse in the French Catholic Church, that indicated that some 216,000 children have been victims of abuse by members of the Catholic clergy in France since 1950. The report was seen as turning point in the history of the church, as it was seen that, until the early 2000s, the Catholic Church had “showed a profound and even cruel indifference towards the victims”.
This was anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela’s Maya birth energy, and the Maya birth energy of Argentinian surgeon Rene Favaloro, the doctor who performed the first bypass surgery, changing heart treatment forever.
This energy is also marking two cycles since the first release of hostages in Gaza. While a new Israel-Gaza peace plan is being proposed, the tragedies are still unfolding, and there are still 59 hostages unaccounted for.
4 Chuwen (April 28th) – a “defining” day associated with creativity (and sometimes mischief); a “time-weaver” type of energy that can be quite eventful, as happened last summer, on the final day of the Summer Olympics. A closing ceremony was held at the Stade de France, the country’s national stadium, which was transformed into a concert hall for this event, and featured hundreds of performers, acrobats, dancers, and circus artists.
Currently this is the day of Canada’s federal election, as well as International Workers’ Memorial Day, officially recognized in about 100 countries. Flags are flown at half-mast and ceremonies of observance are held on this Day of Mourning, oriented around raising awareness regarding hazards in workplaces, and to remember those lost, injured, or made ill in connection with their workplace. The theme this year is “Occupational health and safety: A fundamental right at work”.
Four Chuwen tends to be an energy that can “weave events together” in often unusual ways, as seen six cycles ago on the last day of what many refer to as “the worst presidency in history”, as factcheckers reported that the dumpster told an average of some 4,000 lies per month during his time in office during Orange Felon 1.0, with the biggest of all being the BIG one about the results of the 2020 election. That was the day in 2021 when then-President-elect Joe Biden held a lighting ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, just before he was sworn into office, in memory of the 400,000 people in the U.S. who had died from Covid by that point.
5 Eb’ (April 29th) – a “precision” type of energy associated with restorative vitality, at the start of Japan’s Golden Week, which includes four national holidays within seven days. This day is Shōwa Day, which honors the birthday of Emperor Shōwa, the emperor who reigned from 1926 to 1989. Shō means “shining” or “bright”, and wa means “peace”, signifying the “enlightened peace” that citizens receive.
This is also World Wish Day (Hope Without Limits), and International Dance Day, an
observance of the 298th Gregorian birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, the 18th century French dancemaster and reformer of dance who is seen as the creator of the ballet d’action, a precursor to modern ballet. Israel’s Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day) begins at sundown.
This was the energy in place in January, 2021 at the time of the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th US president, and Kamala Harris as the first female Vice-President, with rays of sunlight coming through to illuminate them. That was the 60th Gregorian anniversary of the day when Pres. John F. Kennedy took his oath of office in 1961 as the 35th president, when President Kennedy gave his famous “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country” speech. No doubt he would be very proud to see so many hundreds of thousands of people protesting every day against the tyranny that is currently threatening so many US citizens and institutions.
Four cycles ago (in June of 2022) major protests erupted in many parts of the US after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade in a 5-4 ruling, ending a 50-year constitutional right that allowed women to make their own decisions about their own bodies. It was seen as a “decision heard around the world”.
Currently this marks the 80th Gregorian anniversary of the day in 1945 when the German command in Italy surrendered unconditionally to the Allies.
6 B’en (April 30th) – representative of “personal authority everywhere”, marking the end of the dumpster 2.0’s first 100 days, and marking six Tzolk’in cycles since President Biden unveiled a comprehensive Covid strategy, the day after he assumed office in 2021. On that day he also signed 10 more executive orders and invoked the Defense Production Act in order to increase the supply of vaccine-related materials and ramp up testing, after the discovery that the dumpster administration’s so-called “vaccine distribution plan” turned out to be non-existent. On that same day it was reported that many of the dumpster’s “followers” had become severely disillusioned – Qanon believers were in disarray, losing faith, and realizing that they had been “duped” and “sold out” by the dumpster, with Proud Boys calling the dumpster “a total failure”. Since then legions more have finally come to the same realization.
This day also marks 10 cycles since Vladimir Putin was re-elected in Russia, for his fourth term, in 2018. Since then many who have attempted to oppose him have either died mysteriously or have been subject to severe persecution – in addition to the thousands of civilians and tens of thousands of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers who have lost their lives due to Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and the on-going war. Unfortunately, there are still no viable solutions in sight, as to how to bring this conflict to an end.
Currently this is Israel’s full Yom HaZikaron day (official Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers of The Wars of Israel and Victims of Actions of Terrorism), with Israel’s 77th Independence Day celebrations (Yom Ha’atzma’ut in Hebrew), beginning at sundown, with the ceremonial lighting of twelve beacons (representing the 12 tribes of Israel) at Mount Herzi, Israel’s national cemetery.
This is also the 50th Gregorian anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
At this point it has been 12 cycles since 2016 when a monumental climate change deal was finalized under this influence by nearly 200 countries at the UN’s 24th Climate Change Conference in Katowice, Poland. Unfortunately, not nearly enough has been done to ameliorate the global warming crisis which is posing such a risk to the planet as a whole.
On this May Day eve, this evening is celebrated as Walpurgis Night, or “Night of the Witches” in Northern Europe and Scandinavia, with the lighting of bonfires and singing of folk songs to mark the arrival of spring, bridging into the following morning.
7 Ix (May 1st) – a “self generating transformation” type of energy, often aligned with “magic”, coinciding with May Day. In some places this is recognized as Beltane, an ancient Celtic festival, still celebrated in some areas in conjunction with May Day, signifying the beginning of summer.
This fits well with today’s Global Love Day, a celebration of unconditional love and compassion, still so greatly needed at this time.
It has now been 11 cycles exactly since protesters across the U.S. in dozens of cities held massive
rallies calling for the dumpster’s impeachment, in the summer of 2017. As it turned out, they finally
got their wish – TWICE, but it took much too long to get there – and was not adequately supported
by Republicans. However, they are not giving up, and with much, much more to protest against this time, there will be another enormous 50501 National Day of Action against the Orange Felon and his administration at this time, on this International Workers’ Day. Known in many countries as Labour Day, this has been celebrated on May 1st since 1886, when hundreds of thousands of American trade union workers took to the streets to demand the universal adoption of the 8 hr. work day.
This is also National Physicians’ Day in Canada (annually on May 1st), a good day to give thanks for the extraordinary work being done across the country by health care professionals. In addition this is the start of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the US, Jewish American Heritage Month, Older Americans Month, and Mental Health Awareness Month. It is also World Password Day – a good time to review your passwords, and to strengthen them if required.
8 Men (May 2nd) a “resurrection” type of energy associated with the high vision of the Eagle, coinciding with International Harry Potter Day, the 27th Gregorian anniversary of the fictitional Battle of Hogwarts when Harry defeated the Dark Lord and the Order of the Phoenix claimed victory.
This marks seven cycles since early 2020 when UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued a statement where he said that the coronavirus pandemic has been unleashing “a tsunami of hate and xenophobia, scapegoating and scare-mongering”, as he appealed for “an all-out effort to end hate speech globally.” At that time Guterres called on political leaders to show solidarity with all people, and on educational institutions to focus on digital literacy at a time when extremists were seeking to prey on captive and potentially despairing audiences. Although it has taken a long time, there is a sense now that the tide is finally turning in some places as people are growing weary of hate, bigotry, and terror tactics. Nevertheless, wars are still raging and the “high vision of the Eagle” is still greatly needed as people continue to work towards finding viable solutions to Earth’s many critical problems.
This is a strong “solar oriented” type of energy which expressed itself quite forcefully two cycles ago when the sun ejected a powerful M9.8 solar flare, which followed several others emitted over the previous couple of days, to create a “Cannibal” CME that triggered large geomagnetic storms felt on Earth shortly thereafter.
Currently this energy is marking the 80th Gregorian anniversary of the day in 1945 when the German surrender in Italy came into effect.
9 Kib’ (May 3rd) – an expansive, “restoration of order” type of energy, sometimes associated with making “adjustments”, often with long term implications, coinciding with World Press Freedom Day, with this year’s theme being “Reporting in the Brave New World: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Press Freedom and the Media”. This is also World Labyrinth Day.
Two cycles ago this was in place at the opening of the COP28 UN climate summit, in Dubai, UAE, at which time some 85,000 participants and more than 150 Heads of State and Government from some 196 countries met to assess progress towards meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement. This was seen as the first “global stocktake” of the world’s efforts to address climate change, and resulted in a “escape plan” for “a world on fire”, to speed up the transition away from fossil fuels.
It has now been four cycles since ex-White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson (aide to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows) gave a terrifying first hand account of the situation in the White House before and during the Jan. 6th attack on the Capitol, which was extremely valuable to the Jan. 6th investigations. However . . . .that trial is still pending.
10 Kab’an (May 4th) – a foundational type of energy associated with the earth and evolutionary movement, as was in place in 1917 at the time of the October Revolution in Russia – when the Communists (Bolsheviks) came to power. This energy was also in place at the second inauguration of President Lincoln, in 1865, at which time he said: “With malice toward none; with charity for all…let us strive on to finish the work we are in…to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.”
This is the Calendar Round return of the 10 Kab’an 15 Wo energies that were in place in 1973 when the first Watergate hearings took place as major insights into Republican chicanery during the Nixon era began to be revealed. The Gregorian date was May 17th.
This marks four cycles since Sweden and Finland were formally invited to join NATO. Finland was officially accepted as NATO’s 31st member in 2023, and Sweden became NATO’s 32nd member last year.
Currently this is:
- the opening day for The World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) 76th World News Media Congress in Krakow, Poland.
- International Firefighter’s Day, a day to reflect on the dedication given by firefighters to the protection of life and property and to remember the ultimate sacrifices that many have made in the interest of helping and protecting others.
- the peak of the Eta Aquarids Meteor Shower (overnight to May 5th) .
- the 85th anniversary of “The Hardest Day” in 1940 when an intense air battle was fought between the German Luftwaffe and the RAF during the Battle of Britain
- the Calendar Round anniversary of the energy in place on the first day of the televised Watergate hearings in 1973
11 Etz’nab’ (May 5th) – an “inspirational flint” (knife-edge) type of force that can be quite decisive, dazzling and attention-getting, a kind of “wake up and pay attention” type of energy, now coinciding with completion of nine days of mourning after the funeral of Pope Francis, and the beginning of the conclave to elect a new pope.
Two cycles ago this energy coincided with large geomagnetic storms over the Northern hemisphere, with auroras reported as far south as Greece and Turkey, caused by a powerful M9.8 solar flare, which followed several others emitted over the previous few days, to create a “Cannibal” CME. Even the skies over Mongolia turned deep, blood red – a very rare occurrence.
That was the day when Pope Francis sent a written message to the COP28 meeting, calling on the U.N. climate summit to strive for a essential breakthrough agreement to stem global warming that would includes the elimination of fossil fuels, since climate had “run amok.” The then-86-year-old pope had planned to attend the conference but a lung inflammation forced him to remain in the Vatican. In his message he said:
I am with you because now more than ever, the future of us all depends on the present that we now choose. I am with you because the destruction of the environment is an offense against God . . . May we be attentive to the cry of the Earth, may we hear the plea of the poor, may we be sensitive to the hopes of the young and the dreams of children! We have a grave responsibility: to ensure that they not be denied their future. The climate, run amok, is crying out to us to halt this illusion of omnipotence. Let us once more recognize our limits, with humility and courage, as the sole path to a life of authentic fulfillment.
This marks three cycles exactly since the International Criminal Court issued an indictment and arrest warrant for Putin for war crimes relating to the deportation of Ukrainian children.
Currently, this is:
- the 80th Gregorian anniversary of the surrender in 1945 of German forces in NW Germany, Bavaria, Denmark and the Netherlands, ending WWII in those regions.
- Children’s Day in Japan, on the final day of Japan’s Golden Week.
- Cinco de Mayo, a holiday commemorating the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861 – 1867).
- National Astronaut Day in the U.S.
- the start of Teacher Appreciation week in the U.S.
- the day of New York’s highly opulent Met Gala, with the theme of “Superfine: Tailoring BlackStyle”
- Red Dress Day a National Day of Awareness and Action in Canada for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit people (MMIWG2S)

In a whole other area, back in 1955, this was the Maya Calendar energy that was in place when a young Elvis Presley gave his first professional performance in his hometown of Tupelo. It was the spark that triggered the birth of rock ‘n’ roll.
12 Kawak (May 6th) – an intense and “dedicated gathering storm/catalyzation” type of energy that can provide a final big PUSH toward enlightenment, with the selection process underway in the Vatican to elect a new pope.
This is now marking 10 cycles exactly since the massive “March for Our Lives” demonstrations in Washington D.C. and other major cities in the spring of 2018, when some two million people marched across the U.S. in the “largest student protest in American history”, with millions more estimated to have marched throughout the world in support of gun control legislation. Three cycles ago tens of thousands of Israelis were marching in nationwide protests against the Israeli government’s plan to undermine the judicial system. Unfortunately that did not work and Israel is continues with its vicious multi-front war.
13 Ajaw (May 7th) – “transformational Full Sun”, a day often filled with high drama and great change – and sometimes even great light (enlightenment), at the conclusion of the Imix to Ajaw cycle, now marking 4520 days since the beginning of the current era in the Maya Calendar (from Dec. 21, 2012). The big question at this time is: “Will this be the day when the cardinals in the Vatican announce that a new pope has been elected?”
Two cycles ago it was reported that a rare solar system with six planets moving in sync with one another was discovered in the Milky Way, estimated to be billions of years old, and 100 light-years away.
Currently this is the 80th Gregorian anniversary of the final signing of the unconditional documents of surrender of the German forces to the Allies in Reims, ending World War II in 1945. This was also the Maya Calendar energy in place at the time of the jubilant celebration of VJ Day at the end of World War II after the unconditional surrender of Japan in August of 1945.
This is the Maya birth energy of King Frederick X, of Denmark, who came to the throne at age 55 early last year after the abdication of his 83 year-old mother Queen Margrethe. He is one of the youngest monarchs in the world.
