Do you remember where you were late last October, just prior to the U.S. presidential election? Do you remember what you were thinking or feeling, or hoping for? That was one cycle ago, as of this trecena, and people in the U.S. had an important decision to make – did they want to continue as a functioning democracy or did they want to endorse insanity and autocracy?

One cycle ago the people of the U.S. were being put to the test, as it is the nature of people’s thoughts and beliefs that determine the outcome of elections. What had they been led to believe? Who have they been listening to? How persuasive had the arguments been that would trigger courses of action? Would people make thoughtful, considered, rational decisions or would they be duped or strong-armed into making irrational choices? One cycle ago it was all up in the air and this was the trecena that required voters in the U.S. to make a choice as to the future direction of their country.

It was intriguing to see that this call to make clear-headed decisions was playing out through this particular trecena, as this is a time frame that prompts a “return to basics” in thought and action, as it tends to place emphasize on building foundations for thoughtful restructuring.

Indeed, the very first day of the Kimi trecena is represented by a skull, indicative of that “returning to Source” idea, returning to “bare bones” foundations in order to regroup. The principal patron of this time frame was seen as the Conch-shell Lord known as Tecciztécatl, a proud and richly attired deity who somewhat reluctantly sacrificed himself to become the Moon. He is often shown accompanied by Tonatiuh, God of the Sun, so within this context we have the Moon and the Sun working together to bring light to the world. In Mesoamerican mythology this pairing is part of the creation story, so this trecena might be seen as a “regeneration” point, a starting point for regrouping or restructuring.

With the election so close at hand one cycle ago, some very “heavy duty” assessments were brought forward during much of this trecena, for people to consider as they headed towards the polls. Indeed some of the dumpster’s closest associates during his 1.0 term, such as General John Kelly, the former chief of staff, spoke out about Trump’s fascist propensities, echoing similar comments by other high ranking generals and officials who had warned about him being a threat not only to the U.S. Consitution, but also to the American way of life and to world order itself. Similarly, as noted on the last day of the last trecena, the New York Times had just published a full-page open letter, signed by 233 mental health professionals, that warned about the dangers posed by Trump’s “symptoms of severe, untreatable personality disorder – malignant narcissism”, the kinds of symptoms than can escalate until they are completely out of control. They emphasized that leaders with such symptoms inevitably destroy themselves and the nations they lead.

And yet, despite all the warnings, that was the person who was declared the winner of that election on the last day of this trecena last November. Respected Globe and Mail columnist Andrew Coyne succinctly summed it up shortly after the election when he wrote :

Nothing mattered, in the end. Not the probable dementia, the unfathomable ignorance, the emotional incontinence; not, certainly, the shambling, hate-filled campaign, or the ludicrously unworkable anti-policies.
The candidate out on bail in four jurisdictions, the convicted fraud artist, the adjudicated rapist and serial sexual predator, the habitual bankrupt, the stooge of Vladimir Putin, the man who tried to overturn the last election and all of his creepy retinue of crooks, ideologues and lunatics: Americans took a long look at all this and said, yes please.

There is no sense in understating the depth of the disaster. This is a crisis like no other in our lifetimes. The government of the United States has been delivered into the hands of a gangster, whose sole purpose in running, besides staying out of jail, is to seek revenge on his enemies. The damage Trump and his nihilist cronies can do – to America, but also to its democratic allies, and to the peace and security of the world – is incalculable. We are living in the time of Nero.

And most assuredly, over the past six months, since he took office, the implications of the choices that were made one cycle ago have rippled through the nation and out into the world in a series of cascading, disaster-laden, waves that have torn lives apart and lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands. The destruction of USAid alone has been catastrophic on a global scale.

Looking back through world history, it can be seen that there have been many times in the past when natural disasters and major crises that have taken place within this trecena have forced people into positions of profound loss, as when Puerto Rico suffered the full force of Hurricane Maria in 2017. Such losses have brought many to the point where the only option available was to “start again”, pushing them to build new foundations in order to “regenerate”. Such events generally force people to take a good hard look at many aspects of their lives, and restructuring is often required on various levels, including personal, local, national, and international, as well as on mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. And certainly the events that were triggered by decisions made during this trecena last fall have required millions to make major adjustments in their thoughts, feelings, and lives as a whole. Tragically, for many, those adjustments were brutally forced upon them!

In the past, the “return to foundations” aspect of these energies has been quite evident, as seen in 2022 during the mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II, just as this same trecena had brought the death and national mourning for her husband, Prince Philip, two Tzolk’in cycles before that. During those periods there was a great sense of loss in the UK, as long-standing symbols of national unity and stability were suddenly gone, and things were in a state of flux.

Similarly in the U.S., memorial events associated with the passing of civil rights activist and “Conscience of the United States Congress” John Lewis became the focus of much attention in the U.S. during this time frame in July of 2020. In 2023 the beginning of this time frame also brought the passing of Tina Turner, known for many years as the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”.

As could be felt at the time of such events, there is often a strong sense of “letting go” during this period, something that is often required in order to bring about something new. This often involves a “letting go of restrictions” (self-imposed or otherwise) in order to allow for new possibilities and opportunities, to achieve a higher level of evolution – again tying in with this idea of “returning to source” in order to regenerate.

Currently, as this trecena comes into place, the catastrophic situation in Gaza continues, and ceasefire talks have again resumed. By this time nearly 60,000 people have been killed, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, and the terror continues. Similarly, the Russia-Ukraine catastrophe has been escalating, as hundreds of projectiles (drones and missiles) have been fired at Ukraine over just the past few days, as talks between the U.S. and Russia have broken down and there is no solution in sight.

So, not only has the U.S. (the dumpster and his useless and incompetent chronies) been unable to stop these wars, but the horrors have significantly worstened during this past cycle. It is highly doubtful that any kind of “solution” will be forthcoming from that quarter without some major shift taking place.

In the meantime, it is heartening to see that over the past 260 days there has been a considerable strengthening in terms of “pushback” by the people in the U.S. People have been waking up; people have been seeing through the lies; people have been appalled by the cruelty, incompetence, and irresponsibility exhibited by the hijackers of the U.S. government. Many have found their voices, and once again millions will be joining together during this time frame to stand strong against the tyranny as they take up the mantle of John Lewis’s “Good trouble” as they work to “redeem the soul of America”.

Keep in mind that Kimi represents a key genesis point for regeneration. As always, this is a time frame that tends to bring things “back to basics” so that restoration and renewal can be addressed. Hold onto the fact that, as difficult as it may seem at times, this trecena has often been associated with “luck” and even good fortune as it presents an opportunity to “pause and regroup”, to review one’s overall “state”, and even to clean out whatever is not wanted or needed in order to set up new foundations for what you want to rejuvenate or bring into your life.

For so many the stakes are extraordinarily high at this time. But keep in mind that not only does “the emperor have no clothes”, he has lost his mind, and more and more people are seeing it. He has betrayed his people, his followers, his country, and the global community – and, despite all the glitz and chicanery, he is his own worst enemy. As Lawrence O’Donnell has so succinctly put it, there has never been “a smaller, more petty, mind in the White House than with Trump”, who is “trapped in his own stupidity”. Hearteningly, the pushbacks are gaining strengths, on multiple fronts. Agent Orange’s policies and dictates are being rejected by the American people, fissures are opening up among his so-called followers, and more and more people are seeing through his lies and skullduggery. The global community is also forming new alliances, and finding ways to sidestep his dictatorial machinations. So his castle IS crumbling, bit by bit, and the sooner it all implodes, the sooner the debris field can be cleared. As the battle continues, this is an excellent time to fortify resistance and resilience, and re-shuffle the foundations for rebuilding. Here are the energies that will come into play:

1 Kimi (July 12th) – the “initiation” of “death/return to Source” foundations (the point at which new life can be engendered), as was in place in 1972 when Richard Nixon was re-elected as the U.S. president, at the same time as Joe Biden first defeated an older, more estabished candidate, as he won the race for the US Senate, for Delaware.

In 1860 Abraham Lincoln was nominated as Republican candidate for President on a One Kimi day, and in 1997 Bill Clinton was inaugurated, for the second time, under this influence. Two cycles ago Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro was required to surrender his passport as part of a police investigation into the attempted coup in 2023 when he sought to stay in power. The day of Bolsonaro’s arrest, in early 2024, was the day when the dumpster’s current trade and manufacturing advisor Peter Navarro was sentenced to 4 months in prison in a contempt-of-Congress conviction related to his role in seeking to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Currently Bolsonaro is going through criminal proceedings for multiple crimes relating to that alleged coup attempt in Brazil, while the dumpster puts pressure on Brazilian authorities to release him, using the same old “witch hunt” mantra that he has hauled out every time he or any of his allies are held to account for their criminal actions.

It has now been four cycles since the Biden administration’s celebrational event at the White House in honour of the signing into law and enactment of the historic Inflation Reduction Act in the US. in 2022. That was the day when it was reported that classified materials relating to foreign nations’ nuclear capabilities were found at Mar-a-Lago during an FBI search.

This is now marking one cycle exactly since the “day WAPO died”, when – for the first time in 36 years – the Washington Post (or more specifically, its owner Jeff Bezos) made a highly controversial decision to no longer make presidential endorsements, which caused a “firestorm” of outrage (including resignations) among WAPO’s staffers and other notable figures in the world of American media.

This is also marking 16 cycles exactly since the start of Russia’s invasion and subsequent annexation of Crimea in early 2014. That One Kimi day brought a significant escalation of violence in Kyiv as pro-Russian and opposition forces engaged in fierce combat that involved police and security forces firing on crowds of protestors. The key events that unfolded over the following days essentially set the foundation for the crisis that is still playing out in Ukraine.

This current trecena is opening just three days after the publication of the European Court of Human Rights’ judgment on Russia’s “flagrant and unprecedented abuses of human rights” since that invasion.

As this energy returns, an important “echo” can be seen with regard to First Nations’ children and their families, relating to the abuses that thousands of children had suffered over many decades in church-run residential schools. As it happened, this was the energy in place in 2008 when then-Prime Minister Harper, on behalf of the Government of Canada, delivered a formal apology in the House of Commons with regard to this shameful period of history. Similarly, this energy was in place one cycle ago (last October) when President Joe Biden made his first-ever visit to “Native Country” in the U.S., where he issued a formal apology to Native Americans for the government’s role in separating indigenous children from their parents and forcing them into abusive boarding schools. As President Biden put it, this was a “blot on American history”, as he called the abuses; “a sin on our soul”. Native American leaders, who had gathered to hear his apology, called it a “profound” and “powerful” moment.

2 Manik’ (July 13th) – a dynamic type of energy aligned with the idea of reciprocity, which can sometimes tilt towards “polarization”, marking the 100th anniversary of the opening of the famous Scopes “Monkey” trial in Dayton, Tennessee, when high-school teacher John T. Scopes was accused of breaking the law by teaching evolution instead of the Biblical idea of divine creation. It is also the first anniversary of the attempted assassination of Trump at an open-air campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Currently this is the opening day of the five-day AIDS 2025 Conference, the world’s “most influential conference on HIV science”, which takes place in Kigali, Rwanda, and virtually, which will feature many of the world’s leaders and top professionals on HIV research.

This was the energy in place in June of 1452 at the time of the issuing of the Dum Diversas, the initial edict that laid the theological and political foundations for the Doctrine of Discovery, by Pope Nicholas V. Writer Robert P. Jones, author of “The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy and the Path to a Shared American Future”, has argued that this edict laid the foundations for the concept of “white supremacy”. It was an edict that merged the interests of European imperialism (which included the African slave trade), with Christian missionary zeal, ultimately leading to the deaths of millions of people, and unfathomable misery for hundreds of millions of others. As everyone is aware, this basic idea is still wreaking havoc in the US and in many other countries.

3 Lamat (July 14th) – the “activation” of the “bright star” heralding energy often associated with leadership, particularly in a “signalling capacity”, now coinciding with Bastille Day in France (French National Day), the 236th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille in Paris in 1789, which was a critical turning point in the French Revolution – a significant event that led to the overthrow of the monarchy. Bastille Day generally includes a large fireworks show at the Eiffel Tower.

This is marking four cycles exactly since the passing of Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral Castle, at age 96, and the declaration of Charles III as the new regent.

It is also marking 16 cycles since the Ukrainian parliament voted (in early 2014) to dismiss the pro-Russian then-president Yanukovych, in the midst of major clashes in the streets in Ukraine cities, and several Lenin statues were toppled in Western Ukraine.

4 Muluk (July 15th) – a “defining” day associated with the shape-shifting energy of water, one of the 5 energies at the centre of the Aztec Sun Stone, now coinciding with Ukrainian Statehood Day, a state holiday to commemorate one of the most critical events in Ukraine’s modern history, when Ukraine adopted its Declaration of State Sovereignty in 1991. In addition, this is Democracy and National Unity Day in Turkey, National Respect Canada Day, and St. Swithin’s Day in the UK. According to British folklore, is a marker for predicting the weather for the subsequent 40 days. Whether it rains or shines, folklore says it will continue in that way for the next 40 days and nights.

In 1994 this was the energy in place at the signing of the Budapest Memorandum by the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States, that prohibited these countries from threatening or using military force or economic coercion against Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan – in return for an agreement that these countries would give up their nuclear weapons. The question of “Whatever happened to that?” still stands.

This is the 79th Gregorian birthday of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, the “absolute monarch” who is one of the world’s wealthiest royals, and who became the world’s longest-reigning monarch after the death of Queen Elizabeth in 2022. He is not only one of the wealthiest people in the world, but is also one of the world’s few absolute monarchs.

5 Ok (July 16th) – the “blessing of love”, also associated with fire, protection, guidance, and justice, marking one cycle since US Vice-President Kamala Harris delivered, at the Ellipse, her final-stretch closing argument in 2024’s presidential campaign. That was when she underscored her warnings about Agent Orange’s degenerate and unfit-for-the-job nature, and the threat to democracy that he posed, while asking people to think of the future and the freedoms that would be upheld during her presidency. But that was not to be, and now people are having to fight like crazy to preserve any semblance of freedom or democracy – as they are doing on this final day of the eight-day NAACP National Convention in Charlotte, NC.

This marks four cycles since the formal ceremonies and proclamations of King Charles III as the new monarch of the British Commonwealth. This is the Maya birth energy of Uğur Şahin, the CEO and one of the founders of BioNTech, the company that developed the Pfizer vaccine against Covid.

At this point it has been seven cycles since 48 senators introduced legislation in the US to restore the Voting Rights Act after it was gutted by the Supreme Court in 2013. But Republicans have refused to take up the bill in the Senate.

6 Chuwen (July 17th) – a “six directions” type of energy aligned with creativity and play, but sometimes associated with the unexpected, coinciding at this time with a National Day of Action in the US, under the theme of “Good trouble Lives On”, on the fifth anniversary of the passing of the prominent civil rights activist John Lewis. Congressman Lewis coined the term “Good Trouble” to represent the idea of people taking peaceful, collective, non-violent action to challenge injustice and push towards meaningful change, justice, voting rights, and dignity for all. As this is World Emoji Day, perhaps someone will come up with a “Good Trouble Lives On” emoji. John Lewis’s Maya birth energy comes in on the final day of this trecena.

In Canada this is the first day of the 4-day Back to Batoche Festival in Saskatchewan, a celebration of Métis culture, languages, and history.

This is also marking six Tzolk’in cycles since the death of Prince Philip in the UK, and four cycles since Queen Elizabeth’s coffin was driven from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh.

It has now been five cycles since the launch of the new James Webb Space Telescope, which ushered in a new era of astronomy, as this telescope has a field of view 15 times wider than that of the Hubble Space Telescope, and is capable of detecting faint infrared light from very early galaxies. Many spectacular images have been captured since that launch.

7 Eb’ (July 18th) – a “self-generating stream-of-consciousness” type of energy; a revitalizing force located in this fertile “mid-point” in this trecena; sometimes a turning point towards the opening up of new possibilities, now coinciding with Nelson Mandela International Day, on what would have been Mandela’s 107th birthday. One of Mandela’s many comments that needs to be remembered and taken as a key guideline is this one:

It is easy to break down and destroy. The heroes are those who make peace and build.

This day marks four cycles exactly since Queen Elizabeth’s coffin rested in state in St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh where a service of prayer and reflection for the life of the Queen was conducted.

It also marks eight cycles since the 7 Eb’ day in 2019 when a judge in New York ordered the dumpster to pay $2 million in damages for misusing his charitable foundation, referred to as “a shocking pattern of illegality”. Since then he has been indicted and found guilty in several other cases, and ordered to pay millions more, including almost $90 million to E. Jean Carroll, after he was found guilty of both sexual assault and defamation. Just a few days ago he lost his appeal in that case as well.

On that same 7 Eb’ day in 2019 WAPO obtained an advance copy of “A Warning”, written by an anonymous White House insider, who described the Trump 1.0 White House as a continuous “five-alarm fire”. One excerpt indicated that it was: “like showing up at the nursing home at daybreak to find your elderly uncle running pantsless across the courtyard and cursing loudly about the cafeteria food, as worried attendants tried to catch him”. In the book Trump was described as representing “a toxic combination of amorality and indifference”, with “inattentiveness and impulsiveness” being two of his traits that were identified as being particularly dangerous – and yet, somehow he was returned to the White House. Has anyone REALLY solved the mystery as to how that actually happened, or is everyone now living in the Twilight Zone?

The last time this energy was in place was five days before the U.S. presidential election last year. A LOT of people must have been “drinking the Kool-Aid” as they were casting ballots or getting ready to cast them at that time, since they now have a Trump 2.0 White House, and the U.S. and the global community are now in serious freefall due to those voting results (or the manipulation thereof).

8 B’en (July 19th) – the “resurrection” of personal authority, as was in place in 2014 when formal approval was given to the new interim government in Ukraine, at the same time as dozens of armed pro-Russians seized the Crimea regional parliament, as Russian fighter jets were engaged in massive war games near the border.

Four cycles ago this energy coincided with Queen Elizabeth’s “last flight” as her coffin was flown from Edinburgh to London by the Royal Air Force. It was then driven to Buckingham Palace, where her coffin rested in state before being taken to Westminster. Six cycles ago, in the US, this energy brought the first of several commemorative events pertaining to the life and death of Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis.

Under this 8 B’en influence in 1971 the New York Times published an excerpt from the “top secret” Pentagon Papers, the 7,000 page history of the U.S role in Indochina from WWII to 1968, that revealed presidential wrongdoings regarding the Vietnam War.

Currently this is the start of Vancouver’s Festival of Lights.

9 Ix (July 20th) – an often consequential, “outwardly projecting”, type of energy often associated with deep mysteries and transformation, as was in place two cycles ago when Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the dumpster to pay some $454 million in damages and interest in his New York civil trial and fraud case, a case in which the frauds were described as “not merely significant: they leap off the page and shock the conscience”. Just a month before that he was ordered to pay nearly $400,000 in legal fees to The New York Times after suing the newspaper unsuccessfully.

That was the day, in early 2024, when Alexei Navalny, one of Putin’s fiercest and most vocal critics, died in one of Russia’s toughest penal colonies. His book titled “Patriot: A Memoir”, released last October (just over one cycle ago), is a compilation of his correspondence from prison in which Navalny recounts his commitment to challenging Russia’s dictatorship, as he called for a continuation of his work to free Russia. His courageous widow Yulia Navalnaya, described in media as “the first lady of Russian opposition”, has vowed to continue with that work.

Four cycles ago under this influence Queen Elizabeth’s coffin was borne on a gun carriage from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall in London for her Lying in State, with King Charles leading the procession. After a short service inside Westminster Hall, conducted by the archbishop of Canterbury, the lying in state began, with hundreds of thousands of people filing past the coffin to pay their respects over the final five days of the trecena. Three cycles before that Congressman John Lewis made his “Final Crossing” of the infamous Edmund Pettus Bridge under this same influence, in a processional ceremony that preceded his Lying in State at the Alabama State Capital.

This is the Maya birth energy of celebrated writer/producer/comedian/ political commentator Jon Stewart, who satirically “tells it like it is” with regard to the craziness of American politics. He has been called “the voice of our generation”.

Events that take place under this energy influence can have long range consequences, as when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the Immigration and Nationality Act under this influence in 1965, 60 years ago.

Currently this is National Ice Cream Day, which may be needed by the millions of people trying to cope with extreme heat.

10 Men (July 21st) – “foundational higher vision” – a Burner Day aligned with “taking the fire” in conjunction with the “high vision” of the Eagle.

This is a strong energy that has the potential to open up far-reaching possibilities, marking six cycles exactly since 2021 when Ukraine announced that Russia had moved 80,000 troops to the border. Seven years earlier, in 2014, this was the energy in place when Russia executed a de facto military takeover of Crimea after the Russian parliament authorized Putin to intervene militarily “to protect Russian interests”.

In 2018 this was in place when the New Yorker ran an article titled Under Trump, “America First” really is turning out to be America Alone because of the growing rift and dysfunction between the western alliance and the U.S.  Related to this there was also the failure of the U.S. and Japan to sign onto an agreement with the other G7 countries to reduce the amount of plastic waste in the world’s oceans. At the time the dumpster was displaying a disruptive and antagonistic stance towards US allies at a G7 meeting and calling for Russia to be readmitted to the G7, at the same time as Robert Mueller was indicting a Russian operative who was linked to senior officials from the dumpster’s 2016 election campaign.

The last time this was in place, it was two days before the US presidential election, at a time when a great deal of “eagle-warrior” posturing was taking place, and dumpster-lying was the order of the day as he worked to dupe as many people as possible into voting in his direction.

11 Kib’ (July 22nd) – an energy that can be either change-oriented or “inspirational” (or both), often aligned with Kib’s orientation around shedding a kind of “first light” on things, towards the restoration of order, or finding practical approaches to problem solving. In early March of 2014 this was the energy in place when Ukraine mobilized for war and two Crimean army bases were surrounded by Russian soldiers.

12 Kab’an (July 23rd) – a “dedication” type of energy associated with movement, particularly “Earth movement” – often a powerful energy associated with “gathering together” and moving new ideas forward, now marking one full cycle since the nail-biting U.S. presidential election last November.

Back in early March of 2014 this was the energy in place at the time of what was then referred to as “the biggest crisis” of the 21st century when Russia issued an ultimatum to Ukraine to surrender Crimean military zones and “recognize the new Crimean authorities” by 3 a.m. the following morning. Five cycles later, in early 2017, U.S. intelligence agencies released a report that described Russia’s sophisticated cybercampaign that was directed towards discrediting Secretary Clinton and undermining the U.S. democratic process during the 2016 election campaign. It has been nine years of Trumpian hell since that cybercampaign took place. Dare one speculate about whether or not it also factored into the election results that fell like a sledgehammer exactly one cycle ago?

Currently this is Revolution Day in Egypt, commemorating the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, which led to the end of the monarchy and the establishment of a republic.

13 Etz’nab’ (July 24th) – “transformational flint”, a “heavy-duty, knife-edged” (and often “dazzling”) force for change, a “large” energy that can foment severe weather systems or other major events such as volcanic eruptions, coinciding with the New Moon, and with International Self-Care Day, which aims “to raise the profile of healthy self-care programs”.

This is now marking one 260-day cycle exactly since the results of the 2024 presidential election began to be declared in the early morning hours of that infamous 13 Etz’nab’ day when the dumpster was declared the winner of that election, and Kamala Harris conceded. That was the day when Mary Trump said: “The fascism is here, and we have to confront it head-on.”

And while Americans and the world were recoiling in horror to the news of the re-election of someone whom 154 political science scholars had placed at rock bottom in a list ranking U.S. presidents by greatness, showing that Trump trailed even “historically calamitous chief executives” who failed to stop the civil war or botched its aftermath, Cat.3 Hurricane Rafael was slamming into Cuba, forcing 70,000 people to evacuate from its eastern provinces. On that same day a major wildfire ignited in Ventura County in Southern California, and the sun emitted an X2.3-class CME that caused radio blackouts on Earth two days later.

In mid-November of 2019, this energy was in place when public hearings began for the impeachment process related to how the dumpster had threatened to withhold aid for Ukraine if they weren’t forthcoming with “political dirt” that might be used against Joe Biden. That was when lawmakers still had a chance to quickly sever the “reign of terror”, and work towards refloating the “ship of democracy”, but too few had the courage to do what should have been done.

This is not only civil rights icon and long-serving Congressman John Lewis’s Maya birth energy, but it also marks nine cycles since the introduction of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act (aka H.R.4) on Feb. 26, 2019, which was designed to restore and strengthen parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Four years later, in 1865, this was in place at the time of the Grand Review of the Armies, when Union Army troops paraded down Pennsylvania Avenue to celebrate the end of that war.
