Storm – this is a word that conjures up images of thunderstorms, lighting flashes, and high winds blowing things around. And that is exactly what generally happens in many areas during this time frame, which is prone to bringing forth typhoons, hurricanes, and other such dramatic events.

While heavy rains and possibly thunderstorms, indeed, have been predicted for southern Australia for this period, for the most part all seems quiet on the high-wind, high-water front with regard to both the Pacific and Atlantic regions, which is very unusual for the Kawak trecena. So the question becomes – are there other kinds of “storms” that might be brewing?

Given that the grand jury investigating the classified documents case is expected to reconvene this week, many are expecting federal charges against Trump to be brought forward “any time now”. With this in the works,  it is entirely possible that one type of “storm” that will be brewing will be a political storm, as the implications of federal indictments against a former president will be getting into uncharted territory. In terms of the “echoing effects” from earlier cycles, we can see that in 2019 hearings related to the dumpster’s first impeachment took place during this period, with Michael Cohen’s seven hours of detailed testimony unfolding on the first day of this time frame. That was seen as a “pivotal moment”, a key inflection point in that investigative process. So as past cycles often provide indications of what could lie ahead, it may well be that this trecena will bring more of those same kinds of “moments”.

Another type of storm that is often associated with Kawak is that of compassion – and at this time, there is a storm of grief washing over India as a result of the horrific train crash that took place near the end of the last trecena, where over 300 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured in Odisha state when three trains were involved in a devastating collision due to a signal failure. Attending to injuries, funerals, and all the other repercussions of such a catastrophic event will be the prime focus for many during this period.

Traditionally this was seen a time frame that was under the auspices of Tláloc, the Aztec god of rain (known as Chac to the Maya). And indeed, Chac often announces his presence at the start of this period in dramatic, sometimes highly tempestuous ways, as happened one cycle ago when Hurricane Fiona was bringing devastation to the Dominican Republic, Typhoon Nanmadol was pounding Japan with high winds and torrential rains, Hurricane Fiona was lashing Puerto Rico, and a 7.5 earthquake shook western Mexico.

As seen so often in the past, Kawak often manifests as a highly catalytic energy traditionally associated with clouds, lightning, thunder, and heavy rainfall that has the potential to create either a “water blessing” that can purify and transform, or set off some sort of complete disaster as we saw in 2014 when “the worst snowstorm in recorded history” in the New York area brought everything to a standstill. This was the trecena that saw people digging out from nearly 8 feet of snow in the Buffalo area, and frantically shifting snowdrifts to keep roofs from collapsing. And then, of course, there was Hurricane Katrina and the inundation of New Orleans in 2005 during the last three days of this time frame. Eleven Muluk, near the end of this trecena, is particularly prone to “major water” events.

This time, however, a major water-related event in Ukraine is coinciding with the “initiating” day of this period, and that is the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro River, by occupying Russian forces, which is requiring the evacuation of a number of villages. The city of Kherson is also being flooded, and this situation has the potential to affect the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP) which relies on water from the reservoir behind the dam.

Thousands of people are being affected by this as this trecena gets underway, and it is predicted that this will affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in the years to come. No doubt much compassion will be shown as help is extended to all those who are in need, as homes and livelihoods are inundated by the waters that are now flooding into that area.

On a completely different note . . . at the last opening of this trecena the emphasis was on a very different kind of compassion as the opening day of this trecena coincided with the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II. We could see a direct echoing of events from two cycles earlier as well, as Prince Phillip’s funeral had taken place at Windsor Castle on the first day of this trecena, during the height of the pandemic. Prior to the funeral an estimated 750,000 people had filed through Westminster Hall, after waiting for hours (and sometimes days) in queues, in order to have one last opportunity to be close to their long-serving Queen, and to say their final respectful farewells.

Her funeral marked the end of an era, the end of a dream, the conclusion of a significant chapter in British history, a time of profound transition when no one could be sure of what could come next, but millions were feeling the loss. Many were likely also thinking of the funeral of the much-loved Princess Diana, but few (if any) would know that the energy in place at this time (One Kawak) is also Diana’s Maya birth energy.

Looking back, we see that the catalyzation process triggered by these energies can take many forms. In 1944, for example, this trecena brought forth the greatest amphibious invasion in history, on a day now referred to as D-Day, as allied forces landed in Normandy on the life-oriented mid-point of this trecena, marking the beginning of European liberation. This time through there will be a major echoing of the energies in place at that time as a large scale D-Day commemorative festival will be underway in Normandy throughout this trecena, which will involve parades of historic vehicles, costumed parachuting, balls, concerts, and fireworks.

In 2017 President Obama delivered his poignant farewell address as president on the third day of this period. In the summer of 1963 this trecena triggered the first national integrated civil rights march in U.S. history. In 2022 the trial related to the death of George Floyd became a pivotal episode related to the Black Lives Matter movement during this trecena, as the perpetrator of his death was sentenced to over 22 years in prison. These kinds of deeply emotional events are the kinds of matters that can lead to significant change.

This time through, the deeply catalytic nature of these energies will be in place as Ukraine pushes forward with its counteroffensive in the war with Russia. As this will be the first time, since the start of the war, for Ukraine to be making a major move to take back their own territory, assisted by heavy equipment and training provided by allied supporters, this will be a significant time frame for assessing their new capabilities. No doubt the dam breach will bring considerably more support for Ukraine as part of an even greater overall effort to push back tyranny. Here are the energies that are coming into place:

One Kawak (June 6th) – the “initiation” of a “catalytic storm”, coinciding with the rising water levels in Ukraine affected by the dam breach. This is the 79th Gregorian anniversary of D-Day, when allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy during World War II in the largest land, sea, and air operation ever undertaken. Commemoration of this event is part of “D-Day Festival Normandy” that is taking place throughout this trecena. Given Russia’s continuing attacks against Ukraine, and the counteroffensive by Ukraine that is now beginning, it seems to be particularly important at this time to stop and remember those who have given their lives in the battle against the forces of destruction.

This One Kawak day is marking one cycle exactly since the “most complex” security operation in the history of the U.K. was in place, as hundreds of heads of state and foreign dignitaries (including the Emperor and Empress of Japan) gathered inside Westminster Abbey in London for Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral, to say farewell to the UK’s longest reigning monarch. It was estimated that more than a million visitors descended on London to catch a glimpse of the ceremonies and processions. This took place exactly two cycles after the funeral in April of 2021 for Prince Philip at Windsor Castle. One Kawak is also the Maya Calendar birth energy of Diana, Princess of Wales, and is the same energy that was in place in 1509 when King Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon.

Over the past few years this has been a critical turning point in terms of calls for justice related to the multiple crimes perpetuated by the dumpster, many of which were highlighted by Michael Cohen in his lengthy testimony given on One Kawak in 2019. When this trecena returned later that year several of the dumpster’s associates were convicted of crimes, and impeachment hearings were underway. When this was in place early last year the Jan. 6th committee was warning about the dangers associated with the dumpster. And now, with multiple investigations nearing their conclusion, and the grand jury in the classified documents case about to reconvene, it appears that charges against him could be soon forthcoming.

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie is due to announce his candidacy for the US presidency on this day.

2 Ajaw (June 7th) – a dynamic type of energy aligned with the full sun, full power, and the idea of “enlightenment”, coinciding at this time with the opening of the 25th Elvis Festival in Tupelo, Mississippi, the home of his birth. This would have been Prince’s 65th Gregorian birthday.

This marks three cycles since five of the world’s most powerful nations agreed that “a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought” in a rare joint pledge to reduce the risk of such a conflict ever starting. The pledge, called Joint Statement of the Leaders of the Five Nuclear-Weapon States on Preventing Nuclear War and Avoiding Arms Races, was signed by the US, Russia, China, the UK, and France, the five nuclear weapons states recognised by the 1968 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) who are also the five permanent members of the UN security council. They are known as the P5 or the N5.

This was the energy in place when President Obama gave his address in East Berlin in 2013 when he outlined his vision for a safer, more cooperative world, to mark the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s 1963 speech. This was also in place in early 2014 when the Crimean parliament voted to secede from Ukraine and join the Russian Federation.

3 Imix (June 8th) – the “activation” of “birth” or the realm of all potential, coinciding with the UN’s World Oceans Day, with this year’s theme being “Tides are Changing”, a global day to focus attention on stewardship and the need to conserve marine resources for future generations. This “activating” energy working in conjunction with Imix, which was associated, traditionally, with the “cosmic ocean”, is a very good day to take action and to develop an ongoing action plan to help in the effort to protect our planet’s marine resources.

This marks one cycle since Presidents Biden and Zelenskyy gave speeches at the UN, with a focus on war crimes perpetuated by Russia, at the same time as Putin was announcing a partial mobilization of military reservists, a significant escalation of his war against Ukraine. That call-up sparked major protests across Russia, including in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and thousands began leaving Russia. Since then it has been estimated that hundreds of thousands have left that country.

This also marks nine terrifying cycles since President Obama’s poignant farewell address to the nation in January of 2017, on the same day as the chiefs of U.S intelligence agencies brought forward the explosive information relating to, among other things, the hacking of the DNC. It has now been seven cycles since the Justice Department’s Inspector General released a sweeping report on the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton and her email server, with the conclusion that the FBI’s (and James Comey’s) actions not only “cast a cloud” over the bureau but also did a grave disservice to Clinton.

One cycle ago (last September) Letitia James, New York State’s attorney general, filed a 222 page lawsuit against the dumpster and his 3 children, and his family real estate business, accusing them of a sweeping pattern of fraud.

4 Ik’ (June 9th) – the “defining” of wind/breath/spirit; an important energy associated with the connection between the sun and the wind oriented deity known as Quetzalcoatl/Feathered Serpent. This is one of the five energies at the centre of the Aztec Sun Stone. It is also the birth energy of Nahui Ehécatl (4 Wind aka 4 Ik’), one of the patrons of this time frame.

This marks two cycles since US Attorney General Merrick Garland affirmed, in January of last year, that the US Justice Department was committed to defending democracy and to holding all perpetrators of the January 6th insurrection, at any level, accountable under law — whether they were present that day or were otherwise criminally responsible for the assault on democracy. As he put it, “We will follow the facts wherever they lead.” . . . . Since then more than 1000 people have been charged, over 500 have pleaded guilty, and many ringleaders who have been given lengthy prison sentences. And there is much more to come . . . .

Three cycles since the conclusion of the “powderkeg” trial in Minneapolis over the death of George Floyd.

5 Ak’b’al (June 10th) – the “pinpointing” of deep esoteric mysteries (or even “darkness”), an energy that could also be seen as a “targetting” type of energy associated with “House”, now marking six cycles since the House Judiciary Committee in the U.S. formally began gathering proof of obstruction of justice, corruption, and abuses of power with regard to the “former guy’s” administration. Many of those abuses have now been brought to light and are the subjects of several on-going investigations. This is the energy that was in place on Jan. 6th of last year, at which time The Insurrection Index was released, which contains 1,404 records of people in positions of trust who acted as accomplices in the dumpster’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election, by either participating directly in the insurrection or spreading the “big lie” that the vote count had been rigged. No doubt the promulgation of more nauseating lies will be on full display at Georgia’s GOP convention that will be underway at this time.

6 K’an (June 11th) – a “six directions” type of energy aligned with “youthful vitality”, coinciding at this time with National “Making Life Beautiful” day, the day of the 76th Tony Awards.

This marks five cycles since the publication of A Warning in 2019 which offered “an unprecedented behind-the-scenes portrait of the Trump presidency”, written by someone who identified himself as part of the “Resistance Inside the Trump Administration”. This took place at the same time as the “stormy” impeachment hearings were underway over the dumpster’s attempt to coerce the president of Ukraine.

7 Chikchan (June 12th) – a self-generating Liberation/Lifeforce type of energy, on the 50th anniversary of the day in 1973 when Senator Harrison Williams introduced the Endangered Species Act into the US Senate. Six months later it was approved and signed into law.

This energy was seen traditionally as the daysign of Chicomecóatl, the Aztec Goddess of agriculture (especially maize) which was representative of the more positive aspects of this time frame, with its potential for providing conditions that are favorable for bringing forth nourishment. However, this can also be an intense energy, as seen in 1985 when a devastating 8.1 earthquake struck Mexico City under this influence, collapsing over 400 buildings and killing at least 5,000 people.

As it happened, another earthquake struck Mexico on the first day of this trecena (One Kawak) exactly one cycle ago, and then again on the fourth day. This is an energy that can also quickly generate strong winds, as it did last September when thousands of people were evacuated as Super Typhoon Noru (Cat. 5) battered the Philippines eastern islands with gusts of up to 195 km/hr (125mph) after an “explosive intensification”.

Update: this is the start day for Exercise Air Defender 23 in Europe, the largest deployment exercise of air forces in NATO’s history, involving up to 10,000 exercise participants from 25 nations with 250 aircraft, to train for air operations in European airspace under the command of the German Air Force. Note that in 1944 the greatest amphibious assault in history, known as D-Day, took place under this influence, marking the beginning of European liberation near the end of World War II. As noted above, at this time the 79th anniversary of the D-Day landings on Normandy beaches coincided with the first day of this trecena, so we have both a Gregorian anniversary and a Tzolk’in return taking place during this current trecena.

Sound familiar? Now, if she was a follower of the Maya Calendar Tzolk’in cycles . . . . well, the possibilities would be “endless”.

8 Kimi (June 13th) – a “resurrection” type of energy associated with “death” or “absolute spiritual foundations” coinciding at this time with World Pet Memorial Day, a special day to remember all the wonderful animal companions that have graced our lives – and all those “out there” who would desperately love to find “furever” homes and people to take care of them.

This is St. Anthony’s Feast Day, a popular Catholic celebration of a saint sometimes known as the Wonder-worker, the patron saint for the recovery of lost things. Also known as the marriage saint, he has been recognized in legends as facilitating reconciliations. Celebrations in his honour will be held in many places worldwide at this time – perhaps to seek his help in the global effort to recover health, peace, stability, morality, and humanity.

The last time this was in place NASA conducted its Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) to test Earth’s ability to alter the orbit of an asteroid that might threaten to crash into Earth.

Update: On June 8th it was learned that the dumpster has been indicted on seven counts in the classified documents case and is due to be arraigned in court in Miami on this day. Interesting that this first-ever federal indictment of a former president is coinciding with a Kimi day, associated with bringing things right down to the “basics” – ie. “death, foundations”. Those keeping count will be aware that he is also under indictment in New York for the hush-money scheme, with that case due to go to trial on March 25th.

9 Manik’ (June 14th) – an “outwardly projecting” type of energy associated with harmonization and reciprocity, but also “sacrifice”, the Maya calendar anniversary of the energy that was in place when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his memorable “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial during the first national integrated civil rights march in the U.S., the largest civil rights rally in U.S. history.

10 Lamat (June 15th) “foundational bright star” – a foundational “signalling” type of energy which also has a tendency to “kick up a storm”, as many severe storms have been in effect under this influence.   Update: It is now expected that Cyclone Biparjoy will make landfall in India late on this day.

Unless he happens to be a student of the Maya Calendar, Elon Musk may not be aware that this is his New Fire birthday (a New Fire birthday is always 13 days before one’s 52nd Gregorian birthday). Whether or not he is aware of this, he does have something to celebrate as it was recently reported (on June 1st ) that he has reclaimed the title of the world’s richest person, with a net worth of $192bn, as a result of a rise in value of his Tesla stocks.

In 1918 this was the energy in place when the Representation of the People Act came into effect that extended the vote to 8.4 million women in the UK over the age of 30.

It has now been six cycles exactly since the US House of Representatives first passed a sweeping anti-corruption and government ethics package, known as For the People Act 2019 (H.R. 1, 2019) which was designed to expand voting rights, limit partisan gerrymandering, strengthen ethics rules, and fundamentally reshape how elections are run. It was reintroduced in 2021 and passed by the House. However, despite the popularity of this bill, it has yet to be passed by the Senate.

11 Muluk (June 16th) – the “change” in conjunction with “water” energy that has brought forth many very intense water related events, such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Eight cycles ago (in 2017) this was the energy in place when the fast moving Hurricane Nate reached hurricane strength in the Gulf of Mexico, before making landfall near the Mississippi Delta two days later. Five cycles ago, in Nov. 2019, this 11 Muluk energy brought storms of “biblical proportions” that swept through France, Greece, and Italy, triggering landslides, flash floods, and black-outs. Four cycles ago there were widespread floods in Kerala, India at the same time as a devastating derecho ripped through Iowa. Three cycles ago Super Typhoon Surigae explosively intensified into a bomb cyclone under this influence, near the Aleutian Islands, and two cycles ago this energy brought a devastating “atmospheric river” to B.C., which resulted in devasating flooding. The last time this was in place (end of September last year) Hurricane Ian tracked across central Florida, leaving a trail of destruction, before heading towards the Carolinas, at the same time as Typhoon Noru brought heavy rains and thunderstorms to Thailand. And this time millions of people will be dealing with the effects of Cyclone Biparjoy across India and Pakistan.

12 Ok (June 17th) – a “grouping together” energy associated with love, warmth, and guidance – and sometimes even fire, coinciding at this time with the New Moon, marking three cycles since the Parker Solar Probe (launched in 2018) “touched the sun” when it entered the solar atmosphere by flying through the sun’s corona. This is the 51st Gregorian anniversary of the Watergate break-in that eventually led to Nixon’s resignation.

This is the opening day for the David Bowie World Fan Convention 2023 in New York, dedicated to “all things David Bowie”, including the Bowie Ball, with attendees marking milestone’s and donning costumes and make-up reflecting their favorite eras from Bowie’s illustrious career.

13 Chuwen (June 18th) – “transformational monkey” or “transformational play”, an intense and highly creative “time weaving” type of energy, sometimes referred to as “Thirteen Threads”; a powerfully innovative type of force traditionally aligned with play, creativity, “time-weaving”, and even (at times) intense “trickery”. This is the kind of energy that can sometimes prompt one into thinking differently or trying out new possibilities, currently coinciding with Father’s Day and the final day of “D-Day Festival Normandy”. This is Sir Paul McCartney’s 81st Gregorian birthday.

This is the Maya birth energy of the talented and innovative artist Chalermchai Kositpipat who built the extraordinary Wat Rong Khun in Thailand. Intriguingly – and in keeping with the nature of this intense final day of a trecena that has been known to bring enormous destruction to many parts of the world – this artist has included images, in the interior of the main buiding, to illustrate the destructive impact that human beings have had on planet Earth.
