Maya Count Of Days Horoscope

Maya Calendar Energies At Work In The World

“Evolutionary Movement on Planet Earth” – in essence this tends to be the nature of Kab’an, the leading force and namesake for this Kab’an trecena, so the timing is perfect for the COP15 global biodiversity summit that opens on the first day of this time frame and spans the entire 13 day period.  The goal for the conference is the adoption of a bold global biodiversity framework that addresses issues associated with nature loss and provides a structure to support and safeguard the health and wellbeing of the planet as a whole.

COP15, the UN conference on biodiversity, spans this entire Kab’an trecena.

This opening of this summit on One Kab’an coincides with the start of the fourth 52-day period within the 260-day cycle, an important shift-point within the overall sequence of days. The fact that the goal is to address significant Earth-oriented issues of an “evolutionary” nature suggests that this will be a highly consequential period, as is so often the case. Hopefully there will be greater progress made than came out of the INC-1 summit in Uruguay last week on plastics pollution, where there was a split on whether goals and efforts should be global and mandatory.

Within the context of this trecena we will be completing our third year of awareness with regard to Covid, as it was December 8th, 2019 when one of the first cases of coronavirus was detected in Wuhan, China. Much has happened over those three years, with over 650 million cases now reported worldwide, and over 6.6 million deaths. But vaccines have been developed and many countries have built up considerable immunity. New case numbers and death rates have dropped significantly in the U.S., but high numbers can still be seen in countries such as Japan, South Korea, France, and Germany.

Two cycles ago more than 184 million cases of Covid-19 had been registered globally, and some four million people had died; one cycle ago (last March) the number of registered cases has reached over 470 million and more than six million people have died from covid. At that time in China some 37 million people were in lockdown! But with China having abruptly abandoned its zero-covid policy a few days ago, and with reportedly a relatively low vaccination rate in that country, there is a high probability that numbers could escale rapidly in that country during this period. Japan has also been reporting high numbers in recent weeks.

In terms of world history, this trecena has often been pivotal in terms of major conflicts, as seen in 1939 with that assembling of German troops in preparation for their invasion of Poland just after Germany and the USSR signed a 10-yr. non-aggression pact. One cycle later, Germany began its blitzkrieg on Europe through its invasion of Holland, Belgium, and Luxembourg, the first stage in the Battle of France, on the first day of this trecena. At that time the British government was in disarray. On what has been seen as one of the most dramatic days in British history, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain resigned and Winston Churchill was appointed as Prime Minister. Several years later, this trecena brought forth the signing of the unconditional documents of surrender of the German forces, finally bringing World War II to an end, in May of 1945. The horror of that global conflict had spanned seven Tzolk’in cycles.

And then there is Russia and Ukraine – it was exactly 11 cycles ago, as of the tenth day of this period, when an unconditional ceasefire went into effect in Ukraine, in 2015, after the signing of the Minsk II agreement three days earlier, relating to the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the front line and pertaining to constitutional reform in Ukraine. But that was then, and the start of this current trecena is marking Day 286 of the terror being inflicted on Ukraine by the callous Russian dictator. Ukraine has now suffered through more than one full cycle of horror, with millions trying to cope with massive power outages. However, it has become evident that things are not going well for Russia. Hundreds of thousands have fled the draft, the military is unmotivated and in disarray, a new Russian media poll reveals that only 25% of Russians are in favor of continuing the war, and Ukraine had now reclaimed more than 54% of the territory captured by Russia since the beginning of the war. Moreover, Ukrainians are showing great resilience, despite the fact that Putin has been attempting to terrorize civilians and degrade Ukraine’s infrastructure. A draft resolution now circulating among world leaders is also calling for a Nuremberg-style tribunal to hold Russian leadership accountable for its crimes against Ukraine. Overall it seems that the tide is turning, and more significant developments in this regard will likely be seen as this trecena unfolds.

Aztec variant of the Movement glyph, similar to the one shown in the trecena image below.

Keep in mind that even though this trecena has sometimes seen the beginning of wars, it has also brought an end to wars. The Aztec hieroglyph for this energy (known as Ollin), with its interlocked elements, reflects the ability of this energy to “switch over” through its alignment with the idea of “movement” – often “evolutionary” in nature. This is a time when “consequences” from earlier events can play out on new levels as opposing forces swing into action.

We are also seeing the start of a possible switch over in Iran, with the announcement that Iran is changing the idea of “morality police” to “public safety police”, after many weeks of Iranian and worldwide protests over the arrest and death of 22-year old Mahsa Amini, for allegedly violating Iran’s strict rules requiring women to cover their hair with a hijab. Activists and human rights group have said that hundreds of people have been killed by security forces during the protests. A three-day general strike is underway in Iran, as this trecena begins, in a massive call for the government to step down.

Adaptation of the Kab’an (Earth/Movement) trecena from the pre-Columbian Codex Borgia by artist Richard Balthazar (used with permission). The first day (One Kab’an for the Maya, One Movement for the Aztec) is represented by the “interlocked” glyph at the lower left (within the border). The other days of this trecena proceed from there to the right, and then up towards the top, to the little water-related glyph at the upper right, which represents Muluk (Water). The daysign numbers in this image (beginning with One Kab’an) are not shown, but implied. In the larger image at the top “The Great Mother Goddess” known as Tlazoltéotl, who serves as the patroness of this trecena, can be seen on the left, sitting on a throne. She was associated with both forgiveness and fertility.

The overseer of this Kab’an trecena was seen in Aztec mythology as Tlazoltéotl, the “Great Mother Goddess”, known as the “Eater of Filth”, who was associated with forgiveness and purification. She was seen not only as a fertility goddess who worked with major generative forces, but also as an entity who conducted confessional rites. These “confession” + “life generation” aspects can be seen in the tendency for events within this period to be, oftentimes, world-shaping in nature, in terms of both major endings as well as the emergence of new beginnings in association with issues that are often of an “earth-shaking” nature. As we have seen, the period leading up to this has been a major “time of testing”, on many levels. Many things that had previously been “unseen” or long hidden were suddenly exposed, jolting people into new realizations.

Back in 1492 this was the trecena that saw the departure of Christopher Columbus from Spain en route westward across the Atlantic, following the dictates of the Catholic “Doctrine of Discovery” that stated that any land not inhabited by Christians was available to be “discovered”, claimed, and exploited by Christian rulers. Thus began the events that led to the promulgation of the BIG LIE that Columbus discovered a “New World”, filled with “savages”, that was there for the taking. Although that doctrine was rescinded on the first day of this trecena in 1537 it appears that the message did not reach many people as the atrocieties continued on for centuries after that. There still seems to be much confusion around this issue as many are still calling for this to be abolished. It seems that the various interpretations of this issue could benefit from deeper inspection.

Keep in mind that this is a trecena that often places strong emphasis on issues associated with the planet itself, often serving as a kind of check-point with regard to global evolution. As seen in the past, the beginning of this trecena is one of the most important “trigger points” that seems to bring key issues into focus as it sets the stage for critically important actions that can have significant implications for large numbers of people. Aligned with Earth itself, this Kab’an trecena often coincides not only with radical shifts in world order, but with significant Earth oriented shifts.

As we journey through this time period, a great deal will be “in motion”, as the battle to eradicate the pandemic continues worldwide, as concerted efforts to stop the war in Ukraine continue, as efforts to regain some sense of humanitarian stability in Iran and elsewhere unfurl, and as progress is made towards stabilizing and preserving global biodiversity. We are also seeing a great deal of “earth movement” – quite literally – as Hawaii’s Mauna Loa volcano continues spewing forth great rivers of lava, even heading towards a major highway.

During this period we will also see the return of the Orion spacecraft, and the assessment of how its historic journey around the moon and further out into space have helped to further space exploration. Nobel Prize ceremonies and related events will be taking place at this time, and the World Cup continues on through to the end of this time period. Keep in mind that this is a trecena that has brought the beginning and ending of World War II, beginnings and endings of important space exploration feats, and many other “turning point” events in world history.

As always this would be an auspicious time to review one’s own personal journey in order to set the course and intent for the next 260 days. What will be your next “evolutionary leap” and how will you facilitate it? During this critical time frame these are the energies that will come into play:

1 Kab’an (Dec. 6th) – the “initiation of evolutionary movement”, the start of the trecena that begins the fifteenth Tzolk’in cycle of the new era (since December 2012). As a key 52-day “shift-point” within the 260 day cycle, this is a point that often initiates dramatic and/or consequential movement with planetary significance.

The UN Biodiversity Conference opens on the first day of this trecena

The COP15 opening ceremony takes place on this day, as thousands of government officials, scientists, and activists representing 192 countries gather in Montreal for the world’s most important biodiversity conference, which continues throughout this trecena, in a huge effort to find ways to stem habitat loss globally and preserve sensitive ecosystems.

This is also the beginning of Nobel Week 2022, when this year’s Nobel Prizes will be awarded in Stockholm and Oslo.

In the US this is the day for the heated runoff election in Georgia, to decide Georgia’s representative for the U.S. Senate. A win for Raphael Warnock will help Democrats to solidify their Senate majority. In Iran this is the second day of a three-day general stike, calling for the government to step down.

In Canada this is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, aka White Ribbon Day, in remembrance of the 14 women who were killed at Montreal’s École Polytechnique in 1989. This also marks the 20th anniversary of the annual Shoe Memorial, when 1000 pairs of shoes are placed on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery on this 6th day of December in memory of murdered women. After this one-day installation all shoes and boots are donated to women’s and emergency shelters in the Vancouver area.

In some countries this is celebrated as St. Nicholas Day .

2 Etz’nab’ (Dec. 7th) – a dynamic “knife-edged” type of energy that can dazzle and/or divide and separate, in place at the time of the Full Cold Moon and a close approach of the Moon and Mars.

This is the offical opening day of the UN’s COP 15 biodiversity summit (after the opening ceremony the day before), being co-hosted by China and Canada, that seeks to adopt a bold global biodiversity framework and plan of action through 2030 to halt and reverse nature loss.

In Sweden Nobel Prize lectures in physiology/medicine, and literature will be given, and guided tours will be provided for Nobel Week Lights, Stockholm’s annual light festival.

This is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the 81st Gregorian anniversary of Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. In addition, this is the UN’s International Civil Aviation Day, which celebrates the impact that civil aviation has had on the world.

3 Kawak (Dec. 8th) – an “activating storm” or “activation of compassion” type of influence that can manifest as a true weather storm or a “storm” of compassion or emotion, marking three years since one of the first cases of coronavirus was detected in Wuhan, China, and two years since the UK began its Covid-19 vaccine program.

This day coincides with the Catholic Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and with Bodhi Day in Japan, aka rohatsu, a day wherein Zen monks conduct ceremonies to commemorate Buddha’s attainment of enlightenment. In Sweden Nobel Prize lectures in physics, chemistry, and economic sciences will be given.

In France at this time, the city of Lyon is making an effort to bring some light into the almost-winter darkness as their glorious Festival of Lights (Fête des Lumières) gets underway.

This is the 31st Gregorian anniversary of the signing of the Belovezha Accords in 1991, an agreement that declared the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Taking place on 4 Ajaw, the “defining of enlightenment”

4 Ajaw (Dec. 9th) – a “defining” energy associated with the full light of the sun, symbolic of renewal and enlightenment, the same “defining” Burner Day energy that coincided with Long Count 13.0.0.0.0, the end of the 13th B’aktun on Dec. 21st, 2012, the day in which a whole new Great Cycle of Time was “seated”. Currently this day marks the completion of the 14th Tzolk’in cycle since that date, and the beginning of the 15th cycle.

This is the UN’s International Anti-Corruption Day, focusing on the theme on “Uniting the World Against Corruption”, marking the twentieth anniversary of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

One cycle ago, last March, this was in place at the time of the extraordinary meeting of NATO leaders in Brussels when members reaffirmed their “unwavering support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine”, and resolved “to counter Russia’s attempts to destroy the foundations of international security and stability”.

In 1945 this was the energy that brought forth the signing of the unconditional documents of surrender by German forces, that put an end to the “big lies” that Hitler had been promulgating in Germany. Now, after so many relentless attacks, it is becoming apparent that support for Russia’s leadership with regard to its campaign against Ukraine has been dwindling radically among the Russian people, so perhaps we will find glimmers of hope at this time as to how to bring about “enlightenment” and peace between those nations.

This is Dame Judi Dench’s 88th Gregorian birthday. Happy birthday Dame Judi!

5 Imix (Dec. 10th) – the “blessing of birth”, representative of both “the realm of all potential” and chaos; symbolic of the primordial realm, which contains “all possibilities”, coinciding at this time with the Nobel Prize award ceremony and banquet in Stockholm, Sweden, and the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony, banquet, and Torchlight procession in Oslo, Norway.

This is the final day of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, and the 74th Gregorian anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations.

In 1945 this was the energy in place on VE day, when the world jubilantly celebrated the end of World War II in Europe and the beginning of peace. Currently this marks five cycles since the inauguration of Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the president of Ukraine on May 20, 2019.

This energy was in place on that historic day in 1969 when Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the moon after landing the day before.

At this point it has been four cycles exactly since the coronavirus outbreak aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship, early in 2020, which led to the ship, with 2,666 mostly Japanese passengers aboard, being quarantined in the Port of Yokohama. Guests were forbidden to disembark, told to wear masks, and confined to their cabins. With over 700 passengers and crew on board testing positive, the Diamond Princess became the focal point for the highest number of cases outside mainland China and people were beginning to see how quickly the coronavirus could spread.

6 Ik’ (Dec. 11th) – an “everywhere” type of energy associated with wind, breath, and spirit, coinciding at this time with the Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Oslo, which will focus on “Finding a Way Forward” for Afghanistan.

This is splashdown day for the Orion spacecraft, expected off the coast of San Diego at 12:40 p.m. local time, after completing its 25-day space flight around the moon, at the conclusion of the Artemis I mission.

It is also the UN’s International Mountain Day, with this year’s theme being
“Women Move Mountains”.

This “wind everywhere” can be highly consequential, as seen in 2020 when the impeachment acquittal in the US took place under this influence, which set democracy itself to teetering “on the brink”. This time this is the day when the Jan. 6th committee meets for the last time, after months of investigations, when criminal referrals will be identified.

This is the 91st Gregorian anniversary of the establishment of the British Commonwealth of Nations in 1931, through an act of the Parliament in the United Kingdom. It’s also the 81st Gregorian anniversary of the Nazi declaration of war against the US, and the US declaration of war against Nazi Germany in 1941. In 2015 this was the energy in place when a marathon meeting took place between Germany, France, Ukraine, and Russia that laid the groundwork for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, to bring an end to the conflict that had been raging in its eastern regions. In 1945 this was the energy in place when World War II officially ended, after Germany’s unconditional surrender on 4 Ajaw.

This is the intrepid Rita Moreno’s 91st Gregorian birthday. Her career as an entertainer has spanned 8 decades, and she has won Emmy, Oscar, Grammy, and Tony awards as well as being given the National Medal of Arts by President Obama in 2010. She received the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2014. She is one of the executive producers for the new “West Side Story” that opened a year ago.

7 Ak’b’al (Dec. 12th) – a “self-generating” type of energy associated with the concept of “temple” or “house”, but also darkness or “sanctuary”. In 1492 this was the energy in place when Christopher Columbus embarked on his first voyage into the unknown.

Our Lady of Guadeloupe, the focal point for the Feast Day for Tonantzin. Public Domain via Wikimedia Commons. This image is from the 16th century.

Currently this is the Feast Day for Tonantzin, Our Lady of Guadaloupe (patroness of the Americas), which is celebrated in Mexico and in many other Latin American communities. Many churches in Canada, the U.S., and elsewhere honour this feast day as a National Day of Prayer in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples. Millions of people make pilgrimages to the Virgin of Guadalupe basilica in Mexico City, the most visited Catholic shrine of the Americas, which was constructed next to a hill in the north of the Mexican capital where Catholics believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, appeared to an Aztec man in 1531, a decade after the Spanish conquest of Mexico.

This is also the UN’s Human Rights Day and its International Day of Neutrality, as well as the UN’s International Universal Health Coverage Day, dedicated to promoting collective action to build more equitable health systems for everyone on the planet.

This day marks three years since “a new viral outbreak” of the coronavirus was first detected on Dec. 12, 2019 (but not broadcast in China for several more weeks). One year later the global number of cases had reached over 72 million; two years after the outbreak it had reached over 271 million, and now the total is over 650 million, with considerable speculation that China’s recent easing of restrictions will lead to an explosion of new cases in that country.

In 2015 this was the energy in place when the Minsk II agreement was signed between Russia and Ukraine, that set out the parameters for the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the front line, and for constitutional reform in Ukraine.

8 K’an (Dec. 13th) – a “resurrection” type of energy associated with germination and even opulence, coinciding with the American Horse Council’s National Horse Day, a day to celebrate the economic, historic, and cultural contributions made by horses over hundreds of years.

In 1969 this was the energy in place when Apollo 11 splashed down in the Pacific after 8 days in space. Exactly one Calendar Round later (on July 11, 2021) this was in place at the “Dawn of a New Space Age” when billionaire Richard Branson reached the stars aboard his own Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo space craft.

Last March this was the energy in place when delegates from the AFN, Métis, and Inuit Nations, and residential school survivors met with Pope Francis at the Vatican, at the same time as two large coronal mass ejections (CMEs) blasted out from the sun.

It has now been four cycles since the death of Dr. Li Wenliang, the doctor who, on Dec. 30th, 2019, issued the first warning to colleagues that there were 7 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

9 Chikchan (Dec. 14th) – representative of “outwardly-projecting” lifeforce, this is a powerful force that can spawn major weather events such as typhoons, and even push forth “evolutionary” events that can significantly impact the world, as happened when the First Women’s Rights Convention convened in New York in 1848.

This energy was also in place at the beginning of World War II when Germany invaded Poland in 1939, and again in 1944 when Paris was liberated by the Allies. In 1863, this was in place at the beginning of the horrific Battle of Gettysburg, seen as a turning point during the U.S. civil war, as the Confederate army was forced to retreat.

Currently this is the peak of the Geminids meteor shower, known as the “king of meteor showers”, associated with the 3200 Phaeton asteroid – named after Phaëton, the son of the Greek-named sun god Helios – that travels closer to the sun than any other asteroid . . . going into the early morning of the following day. In 1970 this was the energy at the time of the launch of Apollo 13.

This is National Energy Conservation Day and International Monkey Day, a celebration of “all things simian”.

This also marks two years since coronavirus vaccines began to be distributed and given in the US and Canada, but that was also the day when the Delta variant was identified in the UK.

10 Kimi (Dec. 15th) – a double “absolute foundations” type of energy that is represented by the death god in both the number and daysign positions. As of this day it has been 11 cycles since the unconditional ceasefire went into effect in Ukraine in 2015, after the signing of the Minsk II agreement four days earlier. Whatever happened to that accord?

11 Manik’ (Dec. 16th) – “inspirational deer”, a change-oriented day aligned with the idea of reciprocity and new possibilities, although there can be a sacrificial aspect to it. This is an energy that can be somewhat “fiery” since Manik’ is a “carrier” of the sun on Earth, with the number 11 also being highly Earth-aligned. Situated in a position of intensity near the end of this “earth-movement” trecena, this energy is representative of solar power in tandem with strong Earth-aligned forces, now coinciding with the 65th Gregorian anniversary of the start of the first NATO meeting, involving 15 countries, in 1957 (now there are 30 countries).

This is the day, nearing the end of the COP 15 biodiversity summit, when attention will be placed specifically on finding solutions to help conserve and protect marine and coastal ecosystems.

12 Lamat (Dec. 17th) – a double Venus type of force representative of the “grouping together” influence of the number 12 in combination with Lamat’s “heralding” type of energy, which often “signals” some critical development, suggesting the possibility that some kind of significant announcements could be made at this time, perhaps with regard to the COP15 summit, which is nearing completion.

This is also Pope Francis’s 86th Gregorian birthday.

This is the Maya birth energy of E. Jean Carroll, who continues with her battle for justice in her long, protracted lawsuit against the dumpster. A tentative trial date was scheduled for this coming February but may be slightly postponed.

13 Muluk (Dec. 18th) – “transformational water” – an energetic, often dramatic, type of energy that can trigger strong feelings and stir environmental forces which have, on occasion in the past, developed into floods, tornadoes, and even hurricanes. At this time this energy coincides with the final day of the World Cup, and, in the evening, the start of Hanukkah, the Jewish “festival of lights” that features the lighting of menorahs over eight consecutive nights.

This marks one cycle exactly since the announcement that Ukrainian forces have retaken the entire region around Kyiv. A recent analysis revealed that Ukraine has now reclaimed 54% of the land that Russia had captured.

This is the 30th Gregorian anniversary of the UN’s Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities. It is also the UN’s International Migrants Day, and legendary rock star Keith Richards’ 79th Gregorian birthday. This is the Maya birth energy of Denis Hayes, the founder of Earth Day.
