It’s early September and change is in the air. Summer is winding down, students are preparing for a new school year, and many people are either returning to work or anticipating embarking on new ventures. But there is also a general sense of apprehension in the air, as the heavy hand of dictatorship lurks in the shadows and the spectre of uncertainty necessitates restraint on many fronts worldwide. Within this milieu people are en garde as preparations are being made for forthcoming events. Given all this, it is interesting to see the Etz’nab’ trecena coming into play at this time, as this is a time frame associated with dualities, with life and death issues that must be addressed in order to move forward. The decisions made during this period will set the foundations for the “creation sequence” that will follow during the second half of this month. This period will complete the first half-cycle (the first 130 days) of the current 260-day Tzolk’in.

As has been so evident in the past, this is a time frame that can highlight sharp contrasts, with Etz’nab’ (Flint) serving as a kind of “knife-edge” between two opposing forces. Events that unfold during this period can often result in the cutting away of whatever no longer “works” in order to foment change, and even promote healing. There is often a sense of dualities being brought into stark contrast so that whatever is no longer needed can be easily identified and neutralized. This is even reflected in the nature of the patron energies of this time period, with one representing the warmth of the sun and the other representing the coldness of the Underworld.

During this period it is not unusual for events of a dramatic, and even “shocking”, nature to take place, as opposing forces vie for dominance. It is also possible that events can become so compelling, or issues so urgent, that they can provide the “spark” that can initiate new forms of thought or action. And as we look ahead it is quite obvious that many battle lines are being drawn at this time, as can be seen from a global perspective with a “dictator rendezvous” taking place in China that seems to scream “East vs West”, and autocracy vs democracy. And in the midst of it all, global stability is being undermined by a “trying-to-be” dictator in the White House, supported by toady sychophants, with that wannabe doing everything he can to try to squirm away from a very large and very ugly scandal that is poised to split wide open to reveal long hidden, deep, dark secrets.

Two cycles ago (in April of 2024) it seemed as if the US judicial system was finally getting down to brass tacks with its prosecutions in various cases involving the dumpster, who was being referred to at that time as “Defendant Number One”, leading up to the opening of the first criminal trial against a former U.S. president (as an individual, not a company). Further delays were being denied, progress was being made in courts, and there was considerable pushback against the immunity issue. Even in Gaza thousands of Palestinians were being allowed to return to to their homes as Israel pulled ground forces out of southern Gaza. In many ways it seemed as though lines were being drawn in the sand that said “the buck stops here”!

This was a welcome change as three cycles earlier (February of 2022) it seemed as though a tipping point was being reached as considerable havoc was being wrought in the US. by right-wing conspiracy theorists. At that time Russia was poised to invade Ukraine. Then one cycle later, in November of 2022, the midterm elections in the U.S. brought forth a change in the balance of power in Congress, about the same time as world leaders were acknowledging that the climate crisis had reached a “really bleak moment”, with the need for global collective action becoming acute. Indeed, by July of 2023 (2 cycles ago) the Northern hemisphere was sweltering under a “supercharged” heat wave that brought record-breaking temperatures. Sparks were flying at that time, with severe weather events, entertainment industry strikes, and high level legal actions underway, including in Georgia. At that time there was a sense that the war in Gaza would soon be over and that aid for the starving people would soon be allowed to be delivered. It was a sense of “enough is enough”.

But then came the 2024 US presidential election, and everything changed. With the announcement (on 13 Etz’nab’) that Kamala Harris had conceded, the global community knew that there would be great turbulence ahead and feared that progress could be halted on a number of fronts. And indeed, when this trecena came into place just 40 days after that announcement, sparks began to fly, beginning with a mass shooting at a school in the US, the assassination of a Russian general in Moscow, reports of the deaths of hundreds of North Korean soldiers fighting with Russian soldiers in Ukraine, many Republicans voting against a Trump-Musk budget proposal, and reports of bitter in-fighting in the MAGA world. The trecena began with Judge Merchan’s denial of Trump’s motion to dismiss the indictment and verdict [on presidential immunity grounds] in the hush money case since there was “overwhelming evidence of guilt” and the case was related to “unofficial conduct”. So it looked like there might still be some accountability in that regard – although the dumpster is still trying to appeal the final ruling. But in Georgia the case relating to the conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results got siderailed when DA Fani Willis was disqualified from proceeding with the prosecution. Since then the dumpster has wasted no time in putting his dictatorial plans into action, and things have been going downhill ever since.

Looking at the deeper past it is not difficult to find many events that have taken place during this period that have determined the fate of nations, as seen in 1814 when Napoléon Bonaparte was knocked off his self-styled lofty perch and exiled in disgrace to a small island during this time frame, bringing the grandiose Napoléonic era to an ignominious end.

In 1933 this was the trecena that was in place when Herr Hitler and other Nazis stepped in to consolidate their authoritarian power after the Reichstag fire in Berlin, a pivotal event in the establishment of the Nazi regime. In 1948 Mahatma Ghandi was killed on the first day of this trecena, and in 2019 General Qasem Soleimani, Iran’s top military commander, was assassinated by a US drone strike. On the first day of this trecena in 2022 the Prime Minister of Libya’s car was struck with bullets (but he managed to escape), and one cycle later, also on the first day, came the severe attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

This was also the trecena that was in place at the time of the devastating 7.0 earthquake that flattened Haiti in 2010, at the time of Superstorm Sandy on the east coast of the US in 2012, at the time of the terrifying attack on Charlie Hebdo journalists and cartoonists in Paris in 2015, and at the time of the horrific fire that consumed the roof and spire of the famed Notre Dame de Paris cathedral in 2019.

In 2014 this was the trecena in place when the Ukrainian government began mobilizing its military for “large scale anti-terrorist operations” after a day of violence in eastern Ukraine when government buildings in several cities were seized by heavily armed, masked pro-Russian activists. Five years later, as 2019 drew to a close, a “full and comprehensive” ceasefire between Russia and eastern Ukraine came into effect, echoing other instances in world history where particular trecenas have seen the beginnings and endings of specific conflicts. Unfortunately, five cycles ago (in Feb. of 2022) it was frighteningly evident that a massive buildup of Russian forces was taking place on Ukraine’s border once again, and by the end of the trecena it was clear that Putin had issued a “go” order in his attempt to seize control of Ukraine.

And now, as this trecena comes into play once again, battlelines are being drawn, and the dualities that are characteristic of this time frame are being brought into stark contrast. No doubt there will be considerable “duking it out” moments during this period related to such things as the recent ruling that Trump’s tariffs are illegal, the actions of ICE agents in the US, the attempt to deport hundreds of children to Guatemala, the potential attempt to send national guards to cities such as Chicago, issues related to the complete meltdown at the CDC in protest against the policies and actions of RFK Jr., the Epstein files and hearings related to that overall situation, and the whole sphere of international relations. And then there are the fiascos and gross incompetencies related to key high level US government organizations such as the CIA, FBI and the entire DoJ. The situation in Gaza couldn’t be worse, and while the EU’s coalition-of-the-willing is doing much to support Ukraine, Putin and his buddies are showing no signs whatsoever of being willing to move towards a ceasefire. So the knife-edge that the world is teetering on is extraordinarily sharp at this time, and there is no telling, at this moment, which way the chips may fall. To boot, there is even a total lunar eclipse taking place during this period, and US warships are hovering near Venezuela’s territorial waters.

So once again, stark contrasts between opposing forces will be dramatically illuminated during this period. Sparks will continue to fly, and issues associated with “justice vs. injustice”, “sanity vs. insanity”, and “order vs. anarchy” will be in sharp contrast. Keep in mind that this IS the decisive Etz’nab’ (“the buck stops here”) trecena that often brings an end to specific forms of “reality”, prior to the creation of something new.

On a more personal level, this is always an opportune time for personal reassessment, a great time to cut away whatever no longer “works” in order to make adjustments that could lead to new forms of thought or action. It is a favorable time to “clean house” (both physically and metaphorically), not only in preparation for the forthcoming fall and winter seasons, but also in preparation for the “creation” energies that will follow in the next trecena.

During this period it is a good rule of thumb to stay alert, vigilant, and to proceed with caution, as this tends to be one of the most intense and consequential 13-day periods in the entire 260-day cycle – definitely a time to “tread carefully”. Again, this is a key trecena within the 260-day cycle as a whole, the final 13-day period in the first half of the cycle, leading up to the “creation sequence” which will begin on Sept. 15th. Here are the energies that will be in play:

1 Etz’nab’ (Sept. 2nd) – the “initiation” of Flint, a sparkling, attention-getting “shock and awe” type of energy that can dazzle and/or divide and separate. In 2021, this energy coincided with the Total Eclipse of a Supermoon, and is currently coinciding with the arrival of a full halo coronal mass ejection, which erupted from a long duration solar flare three days earlier.

Currently this is marking the start of the fall “work” season”, and many people will be embarking on new adventures – meeting new people, setting up new routines, and transitioning into new types of activities. For many this will be back to school day, but this year this will be fraught with anxieties in the US, as parents and teachers are faced with the increasingly difficult question of how to keep children safe even while attending schools. With universities under attack from the White House, even college and university campuses are riddled with unease. In India, this is Teachers’ Day. In the US this is the day when the House of Representatives returns after a month long recess. In British Columbia this will be the start of a government workers’ strike.

In Aztec mythology this was the birth energy of Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec solar deity who was also associated with war. While solar events often coincide with this force, earthly flareups are not unusual under this influence. Note that eagles and hummingbirds were seen by the Aztec as being representative of that fierce solar entity.

This is the 80th Gregorian anniversary of the official surrender of Imperial Japan after the Pacific region war in 1945. It is also marking exactly five Tzolk’in cycles since Russia and Belarus undertook joint military exercises in 2022, just two weeks before Russia began attacking Ukraine. Significantly, this is the second day of the 2-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, hosted by President Xi and attended by Russia’s President Putin, India’s PM Narendra Modi, and Turkey’s President Erdoğan, as well as by the leaders of 16 observer or “dialogue partner” nations, in order to “consolidate solidarity” among the Eurasian nations and “help shape a fairer multipolar world order”.

It has also been five cycles, precisely, since it was reported that the National Archives in the U.S. asked the justice department to investigate the dumpster’s handling of official government papers, as 15 boxes of papers that should have turned over to the NA were illegally taken to his home in Florida. Much, much more (including hundreds of classified documents) was found after that, along with evidence of his attempts to conceal the records, but it took two more cycles before the first hearings in that case were even held.

The last time this energy was in place there was another mass shooting at a school in the US, and the first reports came in about the deaths of hundreds of North Korean soldiers fighting with Russian soldiers against Ukraine. That was the day when Judge Juan Merchan in the US denied Trump’s motion to dismiss the indictment and verdict [on presidential immunity grounds] in the hush money case since there was “overwhelming evidence of guilt” and the case was related to “unofficial conduct”.

2 Kawak (Sept. 3rd) – a “dynamic storm, catalyzation” type of force that often manifests as the “generation of a storm, or a storm of compassion”, coinciding at this time with a huge Victory Parade in Beijing commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War and World War II. Russia’s President Putin, India’s India’s Prime Minister Modi, Iranian President Pezeshkian, and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un are all expected to attend. Can we think of anyone else who likely wishes he had been invited to attend this jolly gathering?

This tends to be a highly cause-oriented energy often fueled by strong emotion or great passion, as was in place in June of 2016, when Hillary Clinton emphatically warned that electing the “dangerously incoherent” dumpster would be an historic mistake, as she highlighted what that might trigger. Precisely one cycle later, on 2 Kawak in February of 2017, people were already acknowledging the truth of her warning through a nationwide General Strike/National Day of Action in the U.S.

Two cycles ago the dumpster posted a $175m bond in the New York fraud case, staving off asset seizures by the state, after a deal was made with a billionaire financer, who assisted with that payment. Since then he has managing to slither out of making payments in that case, but that battle still continues.

Currently this is the 46th anniversary of the entering into force of the UN’s Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women as an international treaty, after being adopted by the UN General Assembly in December of 1979. This is also the day when U.S. Representative Ro Khanna, one of the congressmen pushing for full release of the Epstein files, will be holding a news conference with victims of that convicted sex offender, which (according to Khanna) could be “explosive”, as Khanna has said that the victims’ accounts will force lawmakers to vote on a bill requiring the Justice Department to release those long-awaited files.

3 Ajaw (Sept. 4th) – the “Activation of Enlightenment” – an important Burner Day traditionally oriented around the idea of “announcing the fire”, coinciding with the opening of Vancouver’s 11-day International Fringe Festival, involving more than 85 shows over 11 days, this year celebrating its 41st anniversary. This is also the opening day for Toronto’s 11-day International Film Festival, its 50th edition.

This is the first of four Ajaw-related “Burner Days” that run from here until early November, so whatever is “in the works” would be “announced” around this time. Traditionally this is a point where clarity can suddenly break through on important issues, with Ajaw’s “full sun” illuminating things that previously may have been hidden. (There are 20 days between each of these Burner “stations” – the next one will be on Sept. 24th).

It has now been four cycles since Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won the highly consequential run-off presidential election in Brazil, bringing forth a monumental change in power in that country. In 1814 this was the energy in place when Napoléon Bonaparte abdicated the throne, and in 1944 this was one of the energies in place when an attempt was made to assassinate Hitler. In 1983 this was the energy in place when the Soviets shot down a Korean airline, bringing the world to the brink of nuclear war. The last time this was in place the Human Rights Watch (HRW) investigating Israeli attacks on the water supply infrastructure in Gaza issued a report titled Extermination and Acts of Genocide that made a case pertaining to how such attacks were essentially crimes against humanity. This came after an Amnesty International report last December concluded that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza. How is it possible that such a war could still be continuing?

This evening brings the start of Mawlid al-Nabi, the observance of the birthday of the prophet Muhammad in the Muslim calendar.

4 Imix (Sept. 5th) – representative of the sun working with the waters of creation to bring something new into being, this is a defining type of energy associated with “birth” (ie. a “whole new world” or a “whole new way of thinking”). This is the Maya birth energy of Yulia Navalnaya, Alexei’s Navalny’s “fearless” wife, who has stepped into Alexei’s former position as leader of the opposition against Putin.

This is the UN’s International Day of Charity, and the Catholic feast day devoted to Mother Teresa (now Saint Mother Teresa) who transitioned on this day in 1997, and was canonized in 2016.

This is the final day of the 12-day Onam harvest festival in Kerala, India, and the full day of Mawlid al-Nabi, the observance of the birthday of the prophet Muhammad in the Muslim calendar, which ends at nightfall.

This marks ten cycles since that night in 2018 when Michael Cohen “went to war with Trump”, when Cohen’s secret recording of a 2016 conversation between him and the dumpster was aired on CNN. Since then Michael Cohen has been a major ally for those pursuing criminal investigations associated with the dumpster’s business dealings. Cohen once described his job as a lawyer in that organization as “lying for Mr. Trump”. Since 2018 Cohen has been a key witness in the investigations and trials associated with those business dealings, including the Trump Organization’s tax fraud trial that began in 2022, that culminated in Trump’s CFO Allen Weisselberg being sentenced to prison for grand larceny tax fraud and falsifying business records.

5 Ik’ (Sept. 6th) – the “blessing” of wind/breath, and spirit – an energy that could enhance communication and perhaps even assist with bringing clarity or the idea of “hope” with regard to critical issues or events. In China, this is the day of the Hungry Ghost festival, in the middle of Ghost month, when many people carry protective amulets as they pay tribute to ancestors.

Similar festivals are held in other countries, as in Vietnam where a related festival is seen as a time for pardoning condemned souls. Known as the Vu Lan festival (from the Sanskrit term “Ullambana”, meaning “deliverance from suffering”), this is also known as the Amnesty of Unquiet Spirits, and people celebrate by participating in religious rituals and engaging in humanitarian activities. One of the rituals includes the releasing of lanterns or lotus flowers into bodies of water. Click here for further information.

This energy is also coinciding with Anant Chaturdashi, the day of the biggest spectacle of the Ganesh festival in India and elsewhere, that began on Aug. 27th. This is the day when Ganesh statues are submerged in bodies of water, so that Ganesh can “become formless” once again
and people can ask him to return next year. Ganesh “assumed form” on the first day of the festival, and returns to formlessness on this final day, symbolically representing an endless cycle. The teaching is that all things change but “Source” (the “Supreme Truth”) remains the same.

6 Ak’b’al (Sept. 7th) – a “structuring” type of energy sometimes associated with “home and/or sanctuary”, but also “the darkness before dawn”, now coinciding with the Full Corn Moon (aka the Wine Moon or Song Moon) and a Total Lunar Eclipse. As the moon will be glowing in shades of red during the eclipse it will also be seen as a Blood Moon.

This energy is marking the 85th Gregorian anniversary of the start of the horrific Blitz in the UK in 1940 – the bombing campaign by Nazi Germany against the UK that lasted for 8 months. How can it be that Gaza and Ukraine are now suffering through similar kinds of attacks, with no clear ceasefires in sight?

It has now been four cycles exactly since Ethiopia’s warring sides formally agreed to a permanent cessation of hostilities, bringing an end to a two-year war that displaced millions and threatened to destabilise a swath of the continent. The agreement was for an “orderly, smooth and coordinated disarmament”.

This was the energy in place three cycles ago when the Senate Judiciary Committee voted on the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act, in an effort to bring more standards and greater accountability to actions of the members of the US Supreme Court. However, even with that, it was still clear that much more needs to be done to restore credibility in that regard.

This is the day for the completion of the canonization of Carlo Acutis, nicknamed “God’s Influencer”, the first millennial patron saint of the internet. Acutis was an exceptionally devout Italian boy who worked miracles after his untimely death by drawing youth to faith when most of his contemporaries were abandoning organized religion. Like St. Francis who left the churches and went to the squares to preach, Carlo Acutis saw the internet as contemporary public squares, and so created an online exhibit in which he catalogued Eucharistic miracles. Apparently one of the actions that helped to qualify Carlos for sainthood was the healing of a Costa Rican student from a bicycle accident in Italy after her mother prayed to him.

7 K’an (Sept. 8th) – “self-generating germination”, situated at the pivotal middle point in this “knife edged” trecena, marking 13 cycles since Hillary Clinton became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, in 2016, on a day seen as an historic milestone for women. Had she not been thwarted by reckless accusations (and Russian election interference) at that time the last few years would have been completely different.

Currently this is the day when the Epstein estate is due to turn over the “birthday book” and other documents to the House Oversight Committee. No doubt that will be something for Senator Bernie Sanders to celebrate on this, his 84th birthday. Happy Birthday Bernie! This also would have been Peter Sellers’ 100th birthday.

Currently, this is Star Trek day, the 59th anniversary of the first airing of the original Star Trek series on NBC. It was first broadcast two days earlier in Canada. This is also the third anniversary of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

This was the energy in place in 1814 when the Treaty of Ghent was signed, bringing an end to the War of 1812 between Britain and the U.S.

8 Chikchan (Sept. 9th) – the resurrection of Lifeforce, often associated with “strong energy” events such as hurricanes. SpaceX was founded under this influence in 2002.

This is now marking the third anniversary of the first full day of the reign of King Charles III, and the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the DPRK (North Korea). This is also the opening day for the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80) and General Assembly week, under the theme “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development, and human rights”.

This can be a kind of “rallying” energy as well, as seen six cycles ago (in 2021) when this energy brought forth a coaltion agreement in Israel, that paved the way to unseat Netanyahu. Unfortunately things later turned around, and, once again, he resumed the role of prime minister . . . and then came the increasingly horrendous Gaza crisis.

In 1945, near the end of World War II, 8 Chikchan was the energy in place at the beginning of the push by Canadian Forces to liberate the Western Netherlands.

9 Kimi (Sept. 10th) – the “outward projection of death/new foundations, as was in place in April last year at the time of the spectacular Total Solar Eclipse, echoing an earlier Total Solar Eclipse that came in on 9 Kimi in the summer of 1991 over Mexico City and other parts of the country. Although such an event was often seen by various traditional cultures as a sign of realignment and renewal, it may seem, in retrospect, that the 2024 eclipse triggered something else – something darker and more sinister, as many things started going significantly off-kilter not long after that.

Five cycles ago (early in 2022) this was the energy in place when federal judge Amit Mehta ruled that Trump could be culpable for the Jan. 6th insurrection, and lawsuits against him could proceed. In his scathing 112-page ruling, Judge Mehta wrote that the dumpster’s statements before the Jan. 6th riot were “the essence of civil conspiracy”, and that the speech he gave on Jan. 6th “can reasonably be viewed as a call for collective action”. Mehta ruled that three lawsuits (two brought by Democratic House members and one filed by Capitol police offices) could move to the evidence-gathering phase and on toward a trial – one of the dumpster’s major losses in court. This 9 Kimi energy came into place just one week before the start of the hush money trial in April of 2024 – the first criminal trial against a former U.S. president (as an individual, not a company), and the defendant did everything he could to delay or create havoc with it.

It has now been nine cycles since the devastating April 15, 2019 Notre-Dame de Paris fire in Paris. Amazingly, just 5 ½ years later, it officially reopened.

This marks exactly eight cycles after the first official Covid 19 alert by China, on Dec. 31, 2019. One cycle later the global number of cases had reached over 30 million.

This also marks one cycle since Pope Francis opened the bronze “holy door” in St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City to mark the beginning of Jubilee 2025, a year of celebration for Catholics worldwide, around the theme of “pilgrims of hope”. Much of Rome geared up for this event, through the restoration of monuments and upgrades on infrastructure.

With regard to wars – it was 9 Kimi that was in place in November of 2012 when Israel was intensifying its assault against Gaza by launching hundreds of airstrikes against Hamas locations, with Hamas firing back. Hundreds of thousands of people took part in protest demonstrations against the Israel-Gaza conflict in over 50 major cities around the world. That was 13 years ago!!! This was also the energy in place in 1918 when British and American forces crossed the border into Germany, in two different places, during WWI, beginning the allied forces’ occupation of the Rhineland. By this time the French had already occupied all of Alsace-Lorraine. It was also in place in April of 1940 when Germany invaded Denmark + Norway and began their occupation of those countries.

Currently this is Teachers’ Day in China, an important national holiday.

10 Manik’ (Sept. 11th) – the “bare-bones”/foundational energy of “source” combined with that of the sun-carrying Deer, symbolic of reciprocity but also sacrifice, coinciding at this time with the 24th anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy in New York, in 2001.

It has now been 11 Calendar Rounds plus one 260-day cycle since the issuing of the Inter Caetera bull on 10 Manik’ 10 K’ank’in in 1453, by Pope Alexander VI, with the express purpose of validating Spain’s ownership rights of lands in the Americas – an edit that led to centuries worth of suffering by millions of people. Currently, however, this is Universal Brotherhood Day, a reminder that there are options to conflict.

In 1814 this was the energy in place at the time of the signing of the Treaty of Fontainebleau that stripped Napoléon Bonaparte of his powers as ruler of the French Empire.

11 Lamat (Sept. 12th) – a “bright light” kind of energy that often heralds something new, in conjunction with the “change” related energy of the number 11.

It was 11 Lamat that was in place in 2020 at the time of the death of the legendary US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the most admired, respected, and influential women in the US. This quickly turned into “the crisis of the Supreme Court” as politicians wrangled over who would replace her. Since then it has been one disastrous decision after another, along with scandal after scandal. Back in 1973 this was the energy in place when Judge John Sirica began the trial of the Watergate burglars.

In April of last year this was the energy in place at the time of President Biden’s historican meeting with Japan’s prime minister Kishida, as Japan sought to reinforce its defense capabilities. The meeting also reinforced Biden’s commitment to bolstering vital partnerships in the Indo-Pacific amid a militarily and economically resurgent China. One cycle before that Israel Today published a blacked-out front page, with a comment on the “darkness” associated with Netanyahu’s pushing through of a highly controversial judicial overhaul bill the day before. That was seen as the beginning of a major fight over Israel’s future and identity.

Back in 1933 this was the energy in place on that flashpoint day in Berlin when a fire broke out at the Reichstag (assembly location of the German government). That was when Herr Hitler and other Nazis stepped in to consolidate their authoritarian power – a “pivotal” event in the establishment of the Nazi regime.

Back in 2015 this was in place at the launch of the UN’s sustainable development agenda called “The 2030 Agenda” which was seen as “the new universal agenda for humanity” aimed at bringing an end to world poverty and biodiversity loss. But that was in 2015 and, shamefully, world poverty and starvation, and biodiversity loss, is still rampant.

12 Muluk (Sept. 13th) – a “pulling together” or “grouping together” type of energy associated with water, a good time for people to find ways to be adaptable and to “put heads together” to search for new pathways or find new solutions to problems. This is generally a very intense energy that can create situations where people have no choice but to work together to find solutions.

The last time this was in place, last December, then 100-year old William Webster, the only man to have headed both the FBI and the CIA, urged the US Senate to reject Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard, the dumpster’s nominees for directors of those organizations, warning that Patel’s close political alignment with the dumpster “raises serious concerns about impartiality and integrity,” and “Gabbard’s profound lack of intelligence experience” would seriously jeopardize the ability of the US to safeguard sensitive secrets and collaborate internationally.

On that same day Prof Geoffrey Hinton, the British-Canadian computer scientist often touted as a “godfather” of artificial intelligence warned that the pace of change in AI technology is “much faster” than expected – with now a “10% to 20%” chance that AI would lead to human extinction within the next three decades. That was also the day when bitter in-fighting broke out between Elon Musk and the MAGA base after Trump chose an Indian-born entrepreneur to be his AI policy adviser.

Significant events that have taken place in the past under this influence include:

• midterm election day in the U.S. four cycles ago
• Napoléon’s attempt to end his own life in 1814, after his abdication, rather than face a life in exile.
• The Reichstag Fire Decree in 1933 that enabled Hitler’s regime to arrest and incarcerate political opponents without specific charges, dissolve political organizations, and suppress publications.
• the start of Kristallnacht (“Night of Broken Glass”), in 1938, when Nazis destroyed 7500 businesses, burned 267 synagogues, killed at least 91 Jews, and arrested over 25,000 Jewish men

Currently this is the 18th anniversary of the UN’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the most comprehensive international instrument on the rights of indigenous peoples. It is also the opening day of the David Bowie archive at the V & A museum in London, that is featuring over 90,000 items from Bowie’s personal collection, from stage costumes to personal notebooks.

13 Ok (Sept. 14th) associated with “transformational love”, “transformational guidance”, or “transformational fire”, this is an energy that holds the potential to be a real “scorcher”, marking 19 cycles since a massive solar flare erupted from the sun in 2012, one of the strongest ever recorded, and 15 cycles since the peak of a powerful X1.3-class solar flare in 2014 (that erupted the night before), which triggered temporary communications blackouts at the time of a Mercury Superior Conjunction. As the sun is still going through a solar maximum period, which was expected to be at its peak in July, it is possible that there could be more strong solar activity at this time. However, planet Earth could certainly do with a little less heat at this time.

Currently this is Terry Fox run day, when hundreds of Canadian communities hold fundraising runs for cancer research. It is also National Pet Memorial Day in the US.

It is anticipated that this will be the day when the Global Sumud Flotilla  will arrive at the Gaza coast, if it can break through to open a humanitarian corridor by sea. Before its arrival, this maritime convoy of about 20 boats, carrying food, water, and medicine, with delegations from 44 countries, will be joined by more ships en route.  However, since Israel has blocked this type of effort in the past, there is no guarantee that the ships will get through this time. Hopefully they will be protected by the no-nonsense forces associated with this time frame.

Note that this 13 Ok energy can manifest as the final big push away from “sacrifice and separation” towards greater freedom, creativity, and integration, as seen in the Treaty of Paris that ended the American Revolution in 1783. In 1814 this was the energy in place when the Treaty of Fontainebleau was ratified, when Napoléon Bonaparte abdicated his powers unconditionally. The former Emperor of the French “renounced for himself, his successors and descendants, all rights of sovereignty and domination in France and in Europe” and agreed to retreat into exile on the island of Elba.

This day completes the first half-cycle within the current 260-day period, and is an important marker point in the Maya calendar. The following day a new trecena will begin, associated with “creation” energies, marking the start of the Tzolk’in’s second half-cycle .
