Consider for a moment, what it would be like to sprout wings and lift off from the earth, to fly high to gain perspective, and to have the power, energy, and wisdom needed to make positive changes in this world. This, in essence, is the energy associated with this Chikchan trecena, symbolized by the great Feathered Serpent, and aligned with Liberation, Awakening, Cyclical Renewal, and Justice.

This trecena begins with the energy of One Chikchan, an important shift-point within the overall 260-day period. This marks the start of the third 52-day period within the 260-day cycle, a period which is often intense and action-packed. Often there is a strong sense of a shift or the turning of a tide when this energy appears, along with a sense of new possibilities. Sometimes it can feel like an emergence, sometimes it can even spin into weather events such as tornadoes, but often it is felt as an infusion of energy, possibly a renewal of determination to pursue particular goals. This is a time frame that can push people into action. Great passion, and even bravery, often comes into play at this time, particularly if people are in pursuit of justice. And considering the very strong calls for justice in so many areas these days, it is likely that there will be a great deal of action in this regard during this period.

The principal “patron” of this time frame is a deity known as Xiuhtecuhtli, the Lord of Fire and Time, who often “kicks things up a notch” in order to foment change. His companion in this effort is a deity representative of Venus as the Morning Star, who serves as a herald – signalling that this is a time to really “pay attention”.

Looking back to four cycles ago we are reminded that this was the trecena in place when “a new viral outbreak” (later called Covid-19) was first detected in China in early December of 2019. At first this outbreak was downplayed, but near the end of the trecena it was learned that a “cluster” of patients with “pneumonia of an unknown cause” had been identified. As we all know it has been a roller coaster ride since then, riding wave after wave of variants, with surges in case numbers followed by declines. But the start of this trecena often brought positive developments, as it did in May of last year when the CDC in the U.S. lifted the mask mandate for vaccinated people. Four days later theatres began reopening in London, and two days after that much of New York reopened for fully vaccinated people, with safety protocols in place for the rest. That was the trecena that revealed that case numbers in many places were trending downwards and the percentage of people in many areas who had received at least one dose of covid vaccine was rapidly climbing. As mandates began to be cautiously lifted, people began to slowly emerge, savouring their opportunities to become part of the world again, and feeling a new sense of freedom as they began to interact and reconstruct their lives post-pandemic. Overall it’s been a cautious re-emergence, and for some countries (such as Sweden) it was another full 260-day cycle before pandemic restrictions were lifted.

In some areas the eagerness by which people rushed out to regain their freedom backfired and new waves of infection ensued. Indeed, many initial emergences began to take place approximately two cycles after the first hints of the issue. And now, two cycles after that, we find that the global numbers of cases have almost quadrupled since then, and the number of people who have died has almost doubled, now reaching over 6.5 million people. While it seems that we are not fully out of the woods in this regard yet, we have certainly learned a lot over these past four cycles, including locating the areas of need in terms of how global health systems are funded and managed.

During this period one of the major themes that tend to play out is that of Justice, and a great deal of action is set to play out in that regard during this current trecena. In the U.S, the January 6th committee has just completed another hearing, this time revealing some of the plotting that went into the fomenting of such violence during the Capitol riot. Evidence was presented to show that the dumpster had privately conceded that he had lost the election, but he “didn’t want people to know”, and had been significantly instrumental is provoking the insurrection attack, which not only put lawmakers and peacekeepers into great danger, but also led to several deaths and many severe injuries. He has now been subpoenaed to testify, which adds yet another dimension to the legal challenges that he will face during this time frame. In addition to all this there are potential forthcoming charges of espionage, theft of government documents, and obstruction of justice, as well as the beginning of the New York criminal trial against the Trump Organization and ex-CFO Allen Weisselberg, noted below. He is also scheduled to be deposed in the E. Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit during this timeframe. The wheels of justice may turn slowly but things seem to be picking up speed and closing in. There could be a lot of fireworks in this regard during the next few days.

Note, as well, that the 9th day of this time frame marks four cycles exactly since Democrats formally impeached the dumpster, for abuse of power (by putting his own personal interests above the interests and security of the US) and for obstruction of Congress. Those two articles, in the words of the eminent Harvard Law professor and constitutional expert Laurence Tribe, were the most serious abuses of power ever alleged against a sitting president – but that was well before the crimes of sedition and espionage! Note as well that the impeachment action took place two cycles after that infamous meeting between the dumpster and President Putin in Helsinki when Putin blatantly admitted to directing his officials to help Trump win the 2016 election.

And then there is Russia. It has not quite been one cycle since Russia began its attacks on Ukraine, but it has been one cycle since Putin began moving his troops around to get into position to attack. Note that the energy of One Chikchan, which kicks off this time frame, was in place in 1914 when Germany declared war on France. The good news is that it was also in place in 1918 as World War I was coming to an end. Indeed, this trecena marks two Calendar Rounds exactly (2 x 52 years) since the momentous end to that horrific conflict. As it happens, the West is waking up to news on this day that, after days of heavy bombardment of Ukraine, Putin is now saying that “there is no need for more massive strikes” on that country. It remains to be seen whether or not he is being truthful in that regard, but the timing for this statement is certainly interesting.

At this time this Chikchan trecena is coinciding with the highly popular Hindu festival of Diwali, a festival of light that celebrates the victory of “light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”. It seems that this trecena will add an extra dimesion to this festival at this time, and hopefully these augmented positive forces will also help with the overall shift away from the very dark forces that have been in play for much, much too long.

As always, a great deal will be in motion during this period, and the battle for truth, accountability, and justice will be in high swing.

As always, this trecena marks a pivotal point within the overall 260 day Tzolk’in cycle. It is the beginning of an often transformative time frame oriented around justice, freedom, higher knowledge, cyclical renewal, and world-shifting actions. This is the energy field of the Plumed Serpent, a metaphor for “reaching for the sky”, towards Life and Light and Liberation, and the realm of new possibilities. With the “Lord of Fire and Time” as the patron energy, this provides a reminder that great shifts can happen during this period. Here are the energies that are coming into play:

1 Chikchan (Oct. 15th, 2022) – the “initiation” of Lifeforce/Higher Wisdom at the start of the third 52-day period within the 260-day cycle, an intense and highly influential position within the overall cycle, coinciding at this time with the UN’s World Student Day, and the second day of the Jasper Dark Sky Festival that runs through much of this trecena.

In 1521 this was the Maya Calendar energy in place when the Aztecs surrendered to the Spaniards, sealing the fate and future direction of Mexico.

In 1923 this was in place when Howard Carter first entered the burial chamber of King Tutankhamun, an event due to be celebrated soon as the 100th anniversary of the discovery of this tomb is coming up next month.

In 1960 this was in place when John F. Kennedy delivered his victory speech after narrowly winning the Presidential election the day before.

In 1914 this was in place when Germany declared war on France, but it was also in place in 1918 as World War I was coming to an end.

This marks four cycles exactly since Democrats unveiled those two articles of impeachment against the dumpster – abuse of power (by putting his own personal interests above the interests and security of the US) and obstruction of Congress, the most serious abuses of power ever alleged against a sitting president. And now, in addition to other civil and criminal cases that are piling up against him, he is currently under investigation for potential violations of the Espionage Act. It is anticipated that an indictment with regard to those violations will soon be forthcoming, as the evidence against him is so strong. As Harvard Law professor Laurence Tribe recently predicted, potential changes that could soon be forthcoming include espionage, theft of government documents, and obstruction of justice, as well as conspiracy to interfere with an election, and seditious conspiracy with regard to the Jan. 6th insurrection. Bringing such charges, he predicted, would signal “the beginning of national healing”.

2 Kimi (Oct. 16th) – a dynamic type of energy aligned with the “return to source” which often manifests as a push-pull type of force that can shake things up and set new foundations for action, coindiding at this time with the UN’s World Food Day, one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar. Hundreds of events will take place globally at this time to promote worldwide awareness and action with regard to global hunger and food-related needs.

This is the Calendar Round return of the exact 2 Kimi 19 Yax energies that were in place on Nov. 11, 1918, at the end of World War I. Four years earlier Two Kimi had been in place when Germany invaded Belgium, and the UK declared war on Germany.

Currently, on this 60th anniversary of the start of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, it is more than a little disconcerting to see a similar kind of nuclear sabre rattling taking place between Russia and the West. And then there is China, where the 20th National People’s Congress is taking place at this time, involving 2,300 delegates, where President Xi Jinping is expected to be reinstated. While this is taking place some 65 million people in China have been placed under semi-lockdown (since early September) in an effort to rein in outbreaks of Covid.

This is also World Anesthesia Day, to commemorate the first successful use of anesthesia in 1846, and to honour the work done by anesthesiologists. In addition it is the final day of the Judeo/Christian Feast of the Tabernacles, aka Sukkot, which began on Oct. 9th

Four cycles ago (in Dec. of 2019) this energy saw considerable “pushing and pulling” in
Washington as the two-day House Judiciary debates began on those articles of impeachment against the dumpster. Two cycles ago a deal was reached to put the Jan. 6th committee, investigating the insurrection at the US Capitol, into action. This is the Maya birth energy of Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, one of the key US Congressmen involved in those proceedings.

3 Manik’ (Oct. 17th) – the “activation” of reciprocity, symbolized by a deer that “embodies” the sun on Earth, a kind of harmonizing, “hands-on” type of energy connected with the natural world, coinciding with the UN’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, with this year’s theme being “Dignity for All in Practice” . . . . . .

This marks four cycles since “a new viral outbreak” (later called Covid-19) was first detected in China in early December of 2019, but not broadcast in China until several weeks later.

It also marks three cycles since the huge “Get Your Knee Off Our Necks” Commitment March (in August 2020) that called for police reform, criminal justice reform, and racial equality. In 1913 a massive Woman’s Suffrage parade was held under this same 3 Manik’ influence.

4 Lamat (Oct. 18th) – a “defining” energy associated with Venus (representing the sun and Venus working together), often serving as a beacon or herald

At this point it has been 7 cycles (almost 5 years) since Republican senator Jeff Flake delivered a searing rebuke of the dumpster on the Senate floor, citing his “reckless, outrageous, and undignified” behaviour, and pointing out how “the alliances and agreements that ensure the stability of the entire world” were being “routinely threatened by the level of thought that goes into 140 characters”. Three cycles after that (in 2019), with most Republicans still lacking the fortitude to do anything to stop the carnage, the US House Judiciary Committee voted to approve articles of impeachment against the dumpster for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The last time this energy was in place (in January of this year) things had gotten so extreme that it had become evident that the dumpster was essentially confessing to seditious conspiracy and “to providing aid and comfort to a violent insurrection”. With related crimes continuing to pile up over the course of the last 260 days, as noted above, it is likely that some other “heralding” statement or event could take place at this time.

Currently this energy coincides with Anti-Slavery Day, with Healthcare Aide Day in Manitoba and British Columbia, with National Doctor’s Day in Brazil, and with Person’s Day in Canada, in commemoration of the historic day in 1929 when women were included in the legal definition of “persons” .

Seven Tzolk’in cycles ago, in 2017, this energy was in place when President Xi Jinping was declared “all powerful” in China, after a new body of political thought carrying his name was added to the Communist party’s constitution. Note that this year’s National People’s Congress in China was two days ago.

This is the Maya birth energy of Dr. Li Wenliang, the doctor in Wuhan who issued the first warning to colleagues that there were seven confirmed cases of coronavirus, despite the fact that Chinese officials were trying to downplay it.

5 Muluk (Oct. 19th) – a “precision” (or “blessing”) type of energy associated with the shape-shifting energy of water, on the day when the dumpster is due to be deposed in the E. Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit

It has now been two cycles (520 days) since much of the UK allowed restaurants, cinemas, galleries, sports events, and much of the accommodation sector to reopen. At that time the UK had registered just under 4.5 million coronavirus cases, with just over 127,600 deaths. Since then over 19 million more cases have been registered in the UK, and the death total is now over 190,000.

6 Ok (Oct. 20th) – a “shine the light in the darkness, everywhere” type of force, coinciding with the UN’s Conflict Resolution Day – wouldn’t it be “something” if all our global conflicts could be resolved on one day?

This day marks two cycles exactly since the New York Attorney-General’s office announced that it had opened a criminal investigation into the dumpster’s company. Four days from now the trial itself will begin.

This is the day for the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills in B.C. and worldwide. It is also a peak viewing time (through to the following morning) for the Orionids meteor shower which was created from debris from the famous Halley’s comet.

7 Chuwen (Oct. 21st) –“self-generating play”, a highly creative “time weaving” (and sometimes trick playing) type of energy that can sometimes conjure up things of an unusual nature.

This marks five cycles since the election of Volodymyr Zelenskyy (a comedian) as the new president of Ukraine. Exactly one cycle later the House Judiciary Committee released a 650-page impeachment report related to the dumpster’s attempt to coerce Ukraine into helping to interfere in the 2020 US presidential election. Currently this is the day when Steve Bannon will be sentenced, and three days from now the Weisselberg trial begins.

Two cycles ago (in May of 2021) this was in place when the US House of Representatives voted to establish the Jan. 6th Commission. On that same day information was released about three major criminal investigations that were unfolding against the dumpster. Since then much more criminal activity has been uncovered, including espionage, theft of government documents, and much more evidence of obstruction of justuce.

8 Eb’ (Oct. 22nd) – the “resurrection” of the pathfinding energy of vitality, associated with the “dew of life”; a day which the Maya traditionally devoted to the Celebration of Personal Life, coinciding at this time with the first of five days of Diwali, the highly popular Hindu festival of light that celebrates the victory of “light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”.

On this first day of Diwali, known as Dhanteras, the goddess Lakshmi is the focus of much attention. As a goddess of prosperity, good fortune, wisdom, light, and spiritual rejuvenation, Lakshmi is one of the principal deities to preside over this “Day of Fortune”. Lord Dhanwantari, a Hindu deity associated with Ayurvedic medicine is also honoured at this time. In Nepal this is the start of the Tihar Festival of Lights (similar to Diwali).

At this time this energy coincides with the National Day of Protest known as The October 22 Coalition to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation.

This is the Maya birth energy of both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Republican leader Liz Cheney, both of whom are fiercely devoted to truth and to the US Constitution, the rule of law. Both of these lawmakers have shown great strength and resolve in the pursuit of justice with regard to the assault on the Capitol. They have both vowed to do everything possible to ensure the former “president” never again sets foot in the Oval Office.

9 B’en (Oct. 23rd) – the “outward projection” of “personal authority” (or “long lasting personal authority”), marking six cycles since the hair-raising “day of infamy” during the summer of 2018 when the dumpster met with Putin in Helsinki and basically threw U.S. intelligence agencies “under a bus” by siding with Putin rather than honouring the work done by US defence organizations. It has also been four cycles exactly since the dumpster was formally impeached (for the first time) by the US House of Representatives.

In 1918 these were the energies in place at the completion of the last major action on the Eastern Front near the end of World War I, with the Bolshevik capitulation.

This is former President Barack Obama’s Maya birth energy as well as the birth energy of the U.S. itself, as the Declaration of Independence was adopted on a 9 B’en day in 1776.

Currently this is the second day of Diwali, known as Naraka Chaturdasi (Day of Knowledge), associated with the triumph of good over evil. In India beautiful rangolis made of materials such as coloured rice, sand, or flower petals are often made at this time.

10 Ix (Oct. 24th) – a “source” based energy associated with the jaguar and the mysteries of the earth, marking 8 cycles since the dumpster met with nuclear power developers at the White House about sharing nuclear technology with countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, which raised grave concerns among many lawmakers. One cycle after that the Russia scandal in the U.S. officially became a LEGAL case, when indictments were issued against the dumpster’s former campaign chair Paul Manafort, as well as Rick Gates, and George Papadopoulos, relating to such things as money laundering and “conspiracy against the U.S.”.

Currently this is the start date for the New York criminal trial against the Trump Organization and ex-CEO Allen Weisselberg. He was charged in July with 15 felony counts including criminal tax fraud, grand larceny, falsifying business records, and scheming to defraud the government. This is also the day when the D.C. Bar Board of Professional Responsibility meets to consider stripping Giuliani’s D.C. law license.

This is the 77th Gregorian anniversary of the day when the UN’s Charter came into force, coinciding with World Development Information Day, oriented around the idea that improving the dissemination of information and the mobilization of public opinion, particularly among young people, would lead to greater awareness of world problems and help to promote international cooperation in the search for solutions.

This is the third (and most significant) of the five days of Diwali, a time when festival lanterns and lights are set out everywhere to welcome Lakshmi, the goddess of happiness, wealth, and good fortune into homes and other buildings. Lord Ganesha is also honoured at this time. In Nepal this is the day of the Tihar Festival in Nepal, known as the Kukur Puja, the “Day of the Dogs” when dogs are decked out with garlands, given special treats, and thanked for their faithful service, including their service in helping to provide a safe passage for departed souls on their journey to Heaven. A good day to celebrate your own Kukur Tihar with any four legged friend who specializes in bringing joy to the world. (Side note – just a few days ago Nepal become the 70th country in the world to report over one million cases of Covid.)

One cycle exactly since the start of the Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee earlier this year, marking the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

11 Men (Oct. 25th) – “inspirational Eagle” – a Burner Day that can bring about change or a new form of Higher Vision, coinciding at this time with the New Moon and a Partial Solar Eclipse.

It has now been one 260-day cycle since it was reported that the National Archives and Records Administration had transported 15 boxes of presidential records from Mar-a-Lago to the National Archives – boxes full of documents that the dumpster had illegally taken. That was before it was discovered that even more documents (including top secret documents) had been hidden at that resort, in violation of the espionage act. Those were the ones seized by the FBI in August. It is now anticipated that an indictment in this regard will soon be forthcoming.

11 Men (Eagle/Eagle warrior) was the energy in place in 1987 when the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty between the US and the Soviet Union was signed (but expired in 2019). In 2005 major worldwide anti-war protests took place under this influence, demanding the withdrawal of U.S. and British forces from Iraq.

By the last time this energy was in place (in early February) Russia had already assembled “70% of military forces needed for a full-scale invasion” of Ukraine. That was when President Biden met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in the Oval Office as they worked to present a united front against potential Russian military aggression in Ukraine. At the same time French President Emmanuel Macron was meeting with Putin in Moscow. Nevertheless, just over two weeks later, Russia began its attacks on Ukraine.

This is the release date for “And There Was Light” by Jon Meacham, a book which chronicles the life of Abraham Lincoln, charting how—and why—he confronted secession, threats to democracy, and the tragedy of slavery to expand the possibilities of America.

In India this is the fourth day of Diwali, known as Annakut (the Hindu New Year), celebrated in Northern India as the day when Lord Krishna defeated Indra, the god of thunder and rain. Food will be piled high in temples as offerings are made to Krishna. This is also International Artist Day.

12 Kib’ (Oct. 26th) – a “gathering together” type of energy, associated with the ability to “survey”, clean things up, and ultimately restore order, coinciding at this time with the fifth and final day of Diwali.

This marks four cycles (4 x 260 days) since the first cluster of patients with “pneumonia of an unknown cause” was first identified in China in December of 2019, when the world was getting a “head’s up” with regard to what was coming. Three cycles later (the last time this energy was in place, last February) the global number of cases had surpassed 400 million. Now, one cycle after that, the global number has ballooned to over 630 million. Countries such as Germany, France, Japan, and Taiwan have had particularly high numbers over the past few months.

13 Kab’an (Oct. 27th) – transformational movement (or earth movement), a powerful force that can bring either heavy weather conditions, or significant “movement” of an evolutionary nature.

This marks two cycles since Earth was hit by a “dense” Coronal Mass Ejection from the sun, creating a minor Geomagnetic Storm, a reminder of the “ripple of a spacetime distortion” that hit Eath under this influence in 2015, and disturbed the detectors in the LIGO observatory, enabling physicists to observe the warping of space-time generated by the collision of two black holes more than a billion light-years from Earth. It still begs the question: Could this have had anything to do with all the weirdness that has unfolded in the world over the past 7+ years?

The last time this energy was in place European scientists announced that they had made a major breakthrough in their quest to develop practical nuclear fusion – the energy process that powers the stars. If nuclear fusion can be successfully recreated on Earth it holds out the potential for the production of virtually unlimited supplies of low-carbon, low-radiation energy.
