Summer is on its way, and during this period there will be festivals aligned with the solstice, an Inca festival of the sun in Peru, Islamic New Year, and even a 7-day period devoted to minimizing the risk of being struck by lightning. And millions will also be celebrating a job well done.
Indeed, they were everywhere over the past few days – all those highly creative signs, symbols, and banners brought out in support of No King’s Day in the U.S. There were huge papier-mâché dumpster-faced chickens, with TACO (“Trump Always Chickens Out”) signs on them; huge “baby Trump in diapers” balloons, and millions of highly creative, tell-it-like-it-is signs, posters, and billboards. Slogans such as “Morons Are Governing America”, “No Kings! No Idiots Either!”, “Your Ancestors were Immigrants Too!”, “I’ve got 99 Problems and Trump is ALL of them!”, “They want 1939 Germany, “Let’s give them 1789 (French Revolution) France”, “Make America THINK Again”, and “REAL Superheroes are the People” were everywhere, as people found thousands and thousands of ways to push back against tyranny and autocracy. In Washington DC, thousands of protesters carrying signs such as “Trump Must GO now”, “Refuse Facism”, and “Trump: Rapist Fascist Coward” stood in sharp contrast to the vulgar, self-aggandizing (but “underwhelming”) “birthday event”, masquerading as a military parade that took place in the same city.

The signs during the country-wide (and even world wide) No King’s Day rallies posed questions such as “I Thought ALL lives Mattered?” and “You cut my research funding so you could throw a $40,000,000 birthday party?”. Many provided reminders that the puppeteer in the White House is actually a convicted felon, and many held reminders of important democratic ideas such as Thomas Jefferson’s “All Tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent”, and the Statue of Liberty’s “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Huddled Masses yearning to Breathe Free”. Against this backdrop, lawmakers, union leaders, and activists gave speeches in support of democracy and freedom. And not far from the dumpster’s home in Florida, one salwart rock-n-roller held up a poster of Elvis that read “America’s Only King”.
In the midst of a large protest rally in New York City, a red sun with golden rays radiating around it, reading “We are the power” provided the reminder that this Ajaw (Sun) trecena was about to begin. Since this trecena is all about artistry, this wide and diverse display of creativity, in over 2100 locations across the US, looked like a huge wave of energy on the leading edge of Ajaw’s “enlightenment” oriented force – a kind of herald for what was to follow.
And so now begins the Ajaw trecena, which was traditionally welcomed in as a time for celebration. Indeed, in the realm of the Classic Maya, the very first day, One Ajaw, was observed as a highly festive “day of flowers”, during which dancers, singers, song-writers, drummers, storytellers, artists, orators, feast makers, gift-givers, banner-bearers, and flower-bedecked revelers would have been fully engaged in welcoming in the auspicious and joyful One Ajaw (or “One Flower”), representative of the initiation of “Full Sun” or “Full Enlightenment”. It was seen as a day to extol the virtues of creativity in all its diverse forms. As this trecena begins this time, all those who are upholding democracy, celebrating the arts and culture, and pushing back against the forces that have been trying to suppress them should be congratulating themselves for a such a great turnout, and continuing with this very important work, as the battle for freedom continues. Onwards creative soldiers!
Traditionally, the patron, or overseer, of this trecena was known as Old Coyote, the God of Dance, who was integrally connected to the arts, particularly music and dance. Although referred to as an “old, old” deity, he was often depicted as an exuberant partygoer, but was also revered for his worldly wisdom, astuteness, benevolence, and even shapeshifting abilities. He provides a good reminder that often much can be accomplished through a little “fancy dancing”.

Adaptation of the Ajaw (Sun) trecena from the pre-Columbian Codex Borgia by artist Richard Balthazar (used with permission). The first day (One Ajaw aka One Flower) is represented by the little flower at the bottom right corner (within the border). Each of the remaining days proceed around the edge from there towards the left, ending with 13 Eb’ (depicted as a jawbone) at the upper left corner. In the centre on the right is Old Coyote sitting on a throne or decorative chair. This is the highly arts-oriented God of the Dance who oversees this time period. Click here for an overview of Richard’s various other versions of this same trecena.
However, with Israel and Iran now launching missiles at one another, much more than “fancy dancing” will be needed at this time, as this is a significant escalation of Israel’s conflicts with other regions. Worthy of note is the fact that, back in the summer of 2020, this was the trecena when Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his cabinet attempted a land grab of up to 30% of the West Bank, covering Israeli settlements and the rich agricultural lands of the Jordan Valley (a plan backed by the dumpster during his 1.0 term). But at that time there was severe backlash as this would be “a serious violation of international law”, and something that would “mortally wound the Palestinians”. Jordan’s King Abdullah described annexation as “unacceptable” and threatened to slash diplomatic ties. Hamas militants in Gaza called the plan a “declaration of war”, and that was exactly what followed. Global protests have continued ever since, as seen in January of 2024 when this trecena opened with a global day of action to protest the Gaza war. In London a 12ft giant puppet of a Syrian child refugee, named Little Amal, was accompanied by tens of thousands of protesters who marched through central London to show solidarity with Palestine and to reiterate calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. No doubt, artists and activists are ramping up again to continue their call for an end to these atrocities.
Indeed, over the past few cycles many impressive events associated with the arts have taken place during this trecena, particularly within the first few days, as happened in 2021 with the grand ceremonial reopening of the 3,000 year old Avenue of Sphinxes in the city of Luxor, as Egypt set out to revive an ancient tradition. Then in 2023 this trecena began with lead-up events and preparations relating to the lavish coronation of a new king in England, with the coronation taking place on the ninth day. As always, the coronation was a resplendent pageant, complete with a 260-year old fairy tale gold coach, gorgeous Windsor Greys bedecked in glamorous red and gold trappings, and thousands of regally attired guards, troops, and horsemen. The last time this trecena was in place, it brought the swearing in of Claudia Sheinbaum, the former mayor of Mexico City, as Mexico’s first woman president.
In addition to providing pomp and ceremony, this trecena has been known to bring solutions to pressing global problems as well. Indeed, when this trecena was in place in March of 2021, not long after President Biden took office, millions of Americans were “dancing for joy” as Biden signed his Covid relief bill into law and people learned that they would be receiving Covid-19 stimulus relief cheques from the federal government, along with other benefits. During that period the US reached Biden’s 100 million vaccinations goal and millions of others worldwide were celebrating as they received their first immunizations against the coronavirus.
Three cycles ago (in August of 2022) President Biden signed into law the Inflation Reduction Act, the landmark legislation designed to curb inflation, reduce healthcare costs, cut energy costs, and accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy. It was a time for great celebration as this was the signature legislation of his first term in office.
On the “other” front, it has now been three cycles since a number of overlapping legal proceedings were underway with regard to the multiply-indicted “former guy”. The civil trial brought by E. Jean Carroll against the dumpster for sexual abuse and defamation came to a close during this time frame in 2023, which concluded with the finding that he was liable on 9 charges, and fined $5 million. One cycle later, after he defamed her again, this same trecena brought forth another defamation trial against him, which was again won by Ms. Carroll, as he was fined over $83 million. As it happens, he has lost again in this regard, as an appeals court refused, just a few days ago, to accept his appeal relating to the first set of charges.
The last time this trecena came in, there were just over five weeks remaining until the US presidential election, with the odds greatly favouring Kamala Harris. During that time there were several intense solar flares throughout the trecena that disupted power grids and generated bright auroras at much lower latitudes than usual.
Keep in mind that in the past this Ajaw trecena has ushered in many events of great significance. These have included the establishment of a camp at Veracruz by Hernán Cortés and his men in 1519 as they were embarking on their conquest of the Aztec Empire; the adoption of the U.S. constitution in 1787; Napoléon Bonaparte’s defeat at the monumental Battle of Waterloo in 1815; the discovery of gold in the Klondike, in 1896; the opening of Sun Records, that gave birth to Rock ‘n’ Roll, in 1950; the putting into operation of the first computer produced for commercial use, in 1951; the averting of the outbreak of WWIII during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962; and the massive March on the Pentagon demonstration in 1967 to protest the US involvement in the Vietnam war.
Events related to the sun or “the bringing forth of light” often show up during this period, as we can see in the past with those kinds of solar flares and auroras. In 2017 this solar-oriented trecena not only brought forth a particularly strong flare, but also touched off “the greatest show in astronomy” during that summer. It was an event that signalled “a new era in astronomy”, when the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (Ligo) system detected simultaneously for the first time both light and the ripple of gravitational waves, thought to be from the collision of two neutron stars, as hundreds of astronomers on all seven continents began focusing their instruments on data collection about this distant event (in both space and time). This was seen as “a new Rosetta Stone for Astronomy”. As we are now approaching a peak in the sun’s current 11-year cycle, known as the solar maximum, it is likely that “Father Sun” will be quite active during this period.
One thing that we can be sure of during this period is that things will be continue to be “hot”. As this trecena begins world leaders are meeting in Alberta for the G7 summit, which will require them to negotiate with Captain Chaos on multiple global issues. With wildfires in several Canadian provinces, missiles flying in the Middle East, and a whole plethora of unresolved issues that are in need of resolution in the US and elsewhere, it will be hot, hot, hot.
But again, there is also much to celebrate as summer returns and pushbacks continue. Perhaps a summer festival or two would be in order, to lighten spirits and take the edge off, even if only for a few hours at a time. Here are the energies that are coming into play:

Bird of Paradise, one type of exotic flower found in Mexico. One Ajaw was seen traditionally as a celebrational Day of Flowers. Photo credit: Soumyoo, CC BY-SA 4.0 via Wikimedia Commons
1 Ajaw (June 16th) – the “initiation of Full Sun/Enlightenment”, the traditional Maya celebrational “Day of Flowers”, at which time dances and processionals would be held. Often aligned with the position of Venus, this is an important “marker” day in the Classical Long Count calendar, and indeed Venus is now shining super-brightly in the pre-dawn sky. On this Day of Flowers the mood will be celebratory for many as they revel in the pride of knowing that they have just participated in the largest single-day anti-Trump protest of this second term.
The Guardian provides the reminder that 100 years ago, in Italy, scientists, philosophers, writers, and artists “took a stand in support of the essential tenets of a free society: the rule of law, personal liberty and independent thinking, culture, art and science. Their open defiance against the brutal imposition of the fascist ideology – at great personal risk – proved that opposition was not only possible, but necessary.” With this return of the threat of fascism, it is now essential to harness, once again, the power of the arts, and the power of intelligence, to push back in every way possible to “denounce and resist” this threat, in every form. This day would be an excellent day to recommit to this effort and to find even more creative ways to continue with the fight.

Promo poster from the New York Historical’s “Blacklisted” exhibition that opened 2 days before the start of this trecena. It runs through to mid-October.
Note also the exhibition that opened just 2 days before this, at the New York Historical Museum. Titled “Blacklisted: An American Story“, this exhibition explores “the intersection of politics, art, culture, and social dynamics” during Hollywood’s Red Scare of the 1940’s through photographs, objects, and film. This provides a good reminder that this is not the first time that fascism has reared its ugly head in the U.S. Click here for a discussion of the exhibition, in the Guardian. As noted in the article, it was individual citizens fighting back that curtailed the persecutions.
As it happens this will be the first day for official discussions for G7 leaders and their allies, as participants meet in Kananaskis, Alberta for the 51st G7 summit. Global issues such as the crises in the Middle East and global tariffs will be major focal points for negotiations.
In March of 2020 this was the energy in place when Italy’s first nationwide Covid lockdown began, when the entire country was put under quarantine. This was also the energy in place in 1815 when Napoléon Bonaparte was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo, which marked the end of the Napoleonic Wars. This is a good time to celebrate the fact that brutal dictators DO get defeated, eventually.
2 Imix (June 17th) – a dynamic “balancing” type of energy often aligned with “world-making”, on the second (and final) day of the G7 summit in Alberta.
This is the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill, the first major action of the American Revolutionary war, when inexperienced colonial soldiers held off hardened British troops for more than two hours at Breed’s Hill during the Siege of Boston. Although the battle was a tactical victory for the British, the battle gave the patriots confidence that they could stand up against regular army troops in battle. This may be another good reminder of the “power of the people”.
This is the day when a hearing will be held relating to the lawsuit filed by California pertaining to the orange felon’s illegal use of federal forces for general law enforcement in LA. Although a federal judge has already granted a temporary restraining order against deployment of the national guard in this matter, that order was halted temporarily by an appeals court, to facilitate this hearing to review the situation.
This is the 53rd Gregorian anniversary of the Watergate break-in that eventually led to President Nixon’s resignation.
3 Ik’ (June 18th) the “activation” of Wind/Breath/Spirit, marking one cycle exactly since the inauguration of Claudia Sheinbaum, the former mayor of Mexico City, as Mexico’s first woman president (“La Presidenta”). That was President Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday, when he was honoured with a flyover of military jets, and 100 new citizens took part in naturalization ceremonies in his honour.
That same day Israel began a ground invasion into Lebanon, which was followed, in the evening, by Iran’s launch of 180 missiles in an attack on Israel, as sirens sounded across the country. Given that they are once again exchanging missile fire, it is likely that something similar could unfold again on this day.
4 Ak’b’al (June 19th) – a “defining” day associated with night, darkness, dreaming, and the subconscious. Sometimes referred to as “House”, this is also associated with earth-oriented mystery, secrecy, abundance, and even sorcery. It has now been one cycle precisely since Special Counsel Jack Smith’s 165-page redacted presidential immunity motion relating to the Jan. 6th election subversion case was unsealed in court, which included a great deal of direct evidence (including transcripts of witness interviews and grand jury testimony) regarding the Jan. 6th events, revealing the orange felon’s state of mind at the time, and identifying a “plethora of crimes” outside of official duties. Only one cycle? Does anyone dare to ask how many horrendous crimes and coverups have been committed since then?
It was also one cycle ago when President Biden deployed 1,000 active-duty soldiers to help with the clean-up from Hurricane Helene. By then 6,000 National Guard members and 4,800 federal aid workers were already involved, and hundreds of people remained missing. That was a REAL national emergency, not a manufactured crisis, as was the situation when the dumpster illegally sent National Guard forces to Los Angeles, even though there was no need for them.
In 1865 this was the energy in place at the time of President Abraham Lincoln’s funeral at the White House.
This is Juneteenth in the U.S., known as African American Emancipation Day, commemorating the day in 1865 (160 years ago) when Union soldiers landed at Galveston with news that the U.S. civil war had ended and that slaves were free. This day became a federal holiday in the U.S. in 2021.

The Juneteenth Memorial Sculpture Monument in Austin, Texas opened on 12 Etz’nab in June of 2015 (on the 27th), which was 2 days before the start of the Ajaw trecena that year, and exactly 14 cycles before the No Kings Day rallies on June 14th, this year. It is made up of 5 bronze figures that represent the story of Juneteenth and includes a paved timeline of the Black Presence in the Americas—from the Middle Passage to the Emancipation Proclamation that leads to the Bell of Freedom. The Juneteenth Sculptures were created by Adrienne Rison Isom and Eddie Dixon Isom. The group includes Freed Man, Freed Woman, and Child, as well as Law Maker and Pastor. 5 K’an (June 20th) – a “blessing” type of energy associated with youthful vitality and prosperity, coinciding at this time with Summer Solstice, and the various celebrations associated with it. As this is an energy that has the potential to veer towards “recklessness”, perhaps a small cautionary note is in order with regard to not overdoing things on this longest day and shortest night of the year.
This is World Refugee Day, an international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe, millions of whom have been made homeless by those dreadful wars.
This is National Take Your Dog to Work Day, celebrated in many countries since 1999.
This is also award-winning actor Gene Hackman’s Maya birth energy. A celebrated artist who passed earlier this year, Hackman was a veteran actor, well known for his versatility, as well as being a novelist, pilot, and painter.
It has now been three cycles since Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, widely seen as the godfather of artificial intelligence (AI) quit his job, warning about the growing dangers from developments in the field. Eight days later (on 13 Eb’, the last day of this trecena) an article published in the journal BMJ Global Health said that doctors and public health professionals from the UK, US, Australia, Costa Rica and Malaysia were warning that AI could harm the health of millions and pose an existential threat to humanity. They called for a halt to the development of artificial general intelligence until it is regulated. Did anyone even listen? Is anyone even noticing that very often AI statements are full of MISinformation?
Back in 1815 this was the energy in place when Napoléon Bonaparte abdicated for the second time, before being shipped off into his final exile a few months later.
6 Chikchan (June 21st) – “Lifeforce Everywhere” – a structuring type of energy associated with Lifeforce, the Arts, and Higher Knowledge, now coinciding with:
- the UN’s 10th International Day of Yoga, with this year’s theme being “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”
- National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada, the 28th anniversary of the national celebration of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis culture and heritage
- World Music Day, celebrated by more than 120 countries, inspired by the Fête de la Musique annual music festival in France. This is a major platform to highlight music in all its diversity, and to help musicians showcase their talents.
- World Peace and Prayer Day (Honoring Sacred Sites), which encourages people of all faiths and all nations to pray for the planet
- The start of World Unity Week (June 21-28), an eight-day online celebration of global unity oriented around taking collective action on concerns such as climate action, human rights, disarmament, justice, and healing, by forming partnerships for peace and global governance towards sustainable and regenerative development, and interfaith and interracial harmony.
- Prince William’s 43rd birthday
- Bruce Springsteen’s concert in Spain
It has now been four cycles since President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act under this influence, in 2022, as the signature legislation of his first term in office. That was the day when the US Dept of Education announced that it would cancel nearly $4 billion worth of federal student loans for 208,000 borrowers. How things have changed!
7 Kimi (June 22nd) – “self-generating death” or “self-generating foundations”, a “return to Source” type of force that can draw attention to “absolute foundations”, currently coinciding with the start of Lightning Safety Awareness Week, that runs through to June 28th.
It also marks five cycles since the publication of David Cay Johnston’s meticulously researched The Big Cheat – which shed light on years of eye-popping financial misdeeds (aka “fleecing” and “lifelong grifting”, as the Pulitzer-Prize-winning author put it) by the dumpster and his family. Given that the White House has now become “grift-central”, it has become clear that the presidency under this regime is now being used primarily to push an autocratic agenda, while fleecing as many people as possible.
This was the energy in place in 1863 when President Abraham Lincoln delivered The Gettysburg Address at the dedication of a cemetary for the more than 7500 men who died in the Battle of Gettysburg. That battle is now seen as a critical civil war turning point as that was when southern forces began their retreat. This particular address was seen as a point of resolve, that those who died “shall not have died in vain”, that there would be “a new birth of freedom – and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”. It was a point of light in the midst of a great darkness, and yet the battle to preserve that freedom still rages on. This also provides a reminder of what this trecena is about – a chance to “return to light”, to “enlighten”.
8 Manik’ (June 23rd) – the Day of the Lord Deer in Maya tradition, a “resurrection” type of energy aligned with sacrifice and reciprocity, which could be seen as a “doubly harmonious” type of influence, representative of a doubling of solar energy. There is a strong “fire/heat” aspect to this energy, tying in with the mythological link to the ancestral lineage of the Quiché Maya. In that legend this was seen as the day in the Tzolk’in when one of the ancestral forefathers left the people a “bundle of flames” as a reminder of his continuing presence. Four cycles ago when this was in place the sun spewed forth twin coronal mass ejections.
When this was in place in May of 2023 the WHO declared that the public health emergency of international concern regarding Covid-19 was officially over, but they still warned that it continued to be a global health threat.
This is Supreme Court Justice Thomas’s 77th birthday. He has been under a great deal of scrutiny as information has come out pertaining to his acceptance of luxury vacations funded by a wealthy Republican donor, over many years. This has prompted calls for stricter regulations to deal with ethics issues pertaining to members of the Supreme Court itself.

Currently this is the start of National Insect Week in the UK and Europe. The issue of declining insects across the planet will likely be given considerable attention at this time.
9 Lamat (June 24th) – an “outwardly projecting” type of energy associated with Venus and the idea of leadership, coinciding with another “excessive” event – the start of a five-day wedding extravaganza for billionaire Jeff Bezos and his bride, a former TV journalist. These events are being held in Venice, in the midst of a “No Space for Bezos” campaign by activists who have been increasingly taking a stand against the effects of “excessive tourism” that has been plaguing that city. In 2023 this same energy was in place at the time of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. More than 850 community and charity representatives attended the coronation, to mingle with the royals, heads of state, politicians, peers and diplomats at Westminster Abbey.
In Peru, this is the day of Inti Raymi, the Inca Festival of the Sun that takes place in Cusco, when a great ceremony will be held to honour the Sun God and Pachamama (Mother Earth).
This is also International Fairy Day; Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day in Quebec, the Fête Nationale du Québec; and the 44th anniversary of the purported appearance of the Virgin Mary at Medjugorje (Bosnia-Hercegovina) to six children in 1981. It is also rock drummer Mick Fleetwood’s 78th Gregorian birthday.
This is the third anniversary of the US Supreme Court’s highly controversial overturning of the Roe v. Wade decision from 1973, with the June 2022 decision precipitating a major crisis in terms of abortion rights and access to health care for women. This is also the 75th anniversary of the US-ROK (South Korea) Alliance, which was signed the day before North Korea’s invasion of the south in 1950. On this day a two-day NATO summit meeting begins in the Netherlands.
10 Muluk (June 25th) – “foundational water”, often a powerful “shape-shifting” force, coinciding at this time with the New Moon and the opening of the 5-day Glastonbury Festival in the UK, with its extensive lineup of performers.
This evening marks the start of Islamic New Year celebrations, aka the Hijri New Year, at the time of the first sighting of the waxing crescent moon. This is also marking the 150th anniversary of the start of Custer’s 2-day “Last Stand” at the Battle of Little Big Horn, which resulted in a decisive victory for Native Americans during the Great Sioux war of 1876.
This marks the completion of 12 cycles since the CIA revealed their conclusion that Russia had intervened to help the dumpster win the 2016 election.
This is marking three cycles since the sun hurled a long-duration M1.5-class solar flare directly at Earth. Three days later the high levels of radiation associated with that event caused minor shortwave radio blackouts on Earth, and triggered supercharged aurora displays.
11 Ok (June 26th) – “inspirational love (or guidance)” – an “extinguishing” Burner Day representative of heart, love, fire, and passion, on the opening day for the Carnavale Veracruz, marking its 101st anniversary. Seen as the largest carnival in Mexico, this celebration features parades, special events, lots of dancing, and (on this first day), the “Burning of Bad Humor” in the Zócalo.
This is the full day of the Islamic New Year, also known as the Arabic New Year, the beginning of the first month in the Islamic calendar which is used to calculate significant Islamic events for the year. It’s also the 80th anniversary of the signing of the charter of the United Nations and the establishment of the International Court of Justice, the World Court, located in The Hague. These days their work is cut out for them!
This is the Maya birth energy of Terry Fox, the young Canadian who sparked a movement, beginning in 1980, to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Over $900 million has been raised to date by the Terry Fox Foundation.
12 Chuwen (June 27th) – “dedicated” play; a “timeweaver” type of energy than can have a kind of “anything is possible” aspect to it, coinciding at this time with the opening of the Global Woman Summit in London and Canadian Multiculturalism Day which provides opportunities to honour and celebrate cultural diversity in Canada.
This day marks the culmination of a Catholic Jubilee commemorating the 350th anniversary of the appearance of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St Margaret Mary in Paray-le-Monial, in France. The Jubilee began in Dec. of 2023. In the state of Odessa in northern India this is the start of Ratha-Yatra, the oldest chariot festival in the world, usually attended by millions of devotees.
Back in 2019 this was the energy in place when retired US Navy Adm. William McRaven, former head of Special Operations Command (the group that oversaw the 2011 raid in which Osama bin Laden was killed), delivered a fierce criticism of Trump in an opinion in the New York Times titled Our Republic is Under Attack From the President, in which he warned that the dumpster’s policies were a stain on the US and its values. In McRaven’s words: “A good leader sets the example for others to follow. A good leader always puts the welfare of others before himself or herself.” Addressing Trump directly in the article, McRaven said: “Your leadership, however, has shown little of these qualities. Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage, and, worst of all, divided us as a nation.”
The fact that, precisely two cycles earlier, the orange felon was found guilty of sexual assault (in the first case brought to trial by E. Jean Carroll) clearly added to the overall argument made by Adm. McRaven. The defamation case against the dumpster, also brought to trial by Ms. Carroll, and won by her in the trial and then again in the appeals court (just a few days ago), underscored this once again.
One cycle after Adm. McRaven delivered that warning, former defense secretary and CIA Director Leon Panetta, who served in various capacities under nine US presidents, emphasized that Trump had “essentially gone awol from the job of leadership” during the Covid crisis, telling CNN host Anderson Cooper that “rather than bringing together some kind of national strategy to confront this crisis, Trump simply resorts to tweeting about vandalism and other things to . . . divert attention from the crisis that’s there. Trump is “not willing to stand up and do what is necessary in order to lead this country during a time of major crisis. I have never experienced a president who has avoided that responsibility.” And now, 8 full cycles after Adm. McRaven’s stark warning, evidence of the orange felon’s failure to lead is everywhere – not “just” the failure to lead through a major health crisis – but failure to lead in every department. Lives have been shattered, families and communities have become deeply divided, social support systems have been gutted, health and environmental protections have been torn apart, the Republican party has turned into a snivelling collection of sychophants, the reputation of the US from an international perspective is in shreds, and millions of people are adrift in a sea of uncertainty and fear. The “threads” that hold lives and communities together have been ripped asunder. They lie open and exposed, waiting for true leaders – leaders with vision and integrity and empathy and intelligence – to come forth and start the process of weaving a new, liveable fabric for the future. This 12 Chuwen energy is perfect for helping to move this process forward. Perhaps some ideas will emerge from the Global Women Summit, still in process in London – or even Obama 3.0 perhaps? It seems that the hats are already available.
13 Eb’ (June 28th) – “transformational vitality”; a powerful stream-of-consciousness type of energy reflective of intense vibrancy at the end of this “sun-oriented” time frame, a vitality that can sometimes “let loose”, often with intense weather systems, now coinciding with the final day of Lightning Safety Awareness Week. This is Armed Forces Day in the UK, on the 106th Gregorian anniversary of the day in 1919 when the peace document known as The Treaty of Versailles was signed by Germany, officially ending World War I.
On a much more frivolous and garish note, this is the day of the multi-million-dollar Bezos-Sánchez wedding extravaganza in Venice, attended by a bevy of celebrity guests, after five days of ostentatious lead-up. Not surprising that this is happening just one cycle since the release of “The Apprentice” movie on Netflix, which tells the story of how a young, brash Trump started his real estate business in New York in the 70’s & ‘80s with the help of infamous lawyer Roy Cohn.
It has now been three cycles ago since the journal BMJ Global Health published an article in which doctors and public health professionals from five different countries warned that AI could harm the health of millions and pose an existential threat to humanity, as they called for a halt to the development of artificial general intelligence until it is regulated. (see also 5 K’an above)
