It was a stunning victory to be sure – as just five days before the beginning of this Kab’an trecena Justin Trudeau’s Liberal party turned the tide in Canada and brought a resounding end to the long running Conservative stranglehold on this country’s leadership. More of the “unexpected” associated with the last trecena came just two days later with Joe Biden’s announcement that he will not enter the 2016 presidential race in the U.S.   So as we begin this Kab’an time frame rapid adjustments are having to be made in many areas to attend to the repercusions of these events, including the issues relating to finding a replacement for  U.S. Speaker John Boehner, whose resignation takes effect on Oct. 30th, right in the middle of the trecena.

The timing for all of this is very intriguing as this is the trecena that completes the fourth Tzolk’in cycle since the start of the new era on Dec. 21, 2012 and, through its emphasis on “evolutionary” movement, this is the trecena that provides opportunites for prodigious change, often on a global scale. As previously discussed, not only is this trecena associated with the opening and closing of major eras, but it is also aligned with re-birth or emergence, which can even manifest as world-shaping beginnings and endings. Both forgiveness and fertility are often involved, representative of the patron dieties of this time frame, which tie in with the overall idea of inspired dynamic motion.

As this trecena opens we have Canada’s Prime Minister designate getting ready to step onto the world stage at the same time as the contenders for the U.S. presidential race pick up the pace of their campaigns as they ready themselves for next year’s national conventions. [Does anyone know why this has to be drawn out so long in the U.S. when Canada’s “longer than usual” process of electing a new leader took only 78 days?]

In the past, world-shifting events that have manifested under this energy influence have included the departure of Christopher Columbus from Palos, Spain in 1492 en route to the “New World”; the beginning and ending of World War II; beginnings and endings of important space exploration events; the “powering up” and the shutting down (due to issues) of the atom-smashing Large Hadron Collider (in 2008); and the failure of major investment companies in the U.S. which precipitated chaos in world financial markets (also in 2008).

Two cycles ago (in the spring of 2014) the beginning of this trecena coincided with NASA’s release of a 3.2-billion-pixel Earth Day Global Selfie photo mosaic made from over 36,000 photos taken on Earth. During the rest of the trecena significant elections were held in the European Union, Ukraine, Egypt, and Syria.

One cycle ago this trecena opened with the meeting of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President François Hollande with Vladimir Putin to initiate a peace deal for Ukraine in order to avert “total war”. After further talks over the following days that ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine went into effect on the tenth day. An international summit on Countering Terrorism was held at the White House at the end of the trecena.

As this current trecena begins we can wish a “Happy Maya birthday” to Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Korniyenko, born on One Kab’an on the first day of the Maya year in 1960, who is currently on a year-long mission aboard the ISS. This year would have been the 150th birthday of Gifford Pinchot, who was born on One Kab’an in the summer of 1865. A strong advocate of scientific forest management and conservation, Pinchot coinced the term “conservation ethic” with regard to the use of natural resources.

Just a few weeks ago the world lost Wayne Dyer, a well-known motivational speaker, born under the influence of One Kab’an in 1940, who inspired millions with self-help books that sold over 150 million copies. Happy Maya birthday to you, Wayne, and fare thee well.

Miracles come in moments. Be ready and willing. Wayne Dyer

As we go through this trecena we are sure to see significant movement on many fronts, in the middle of which are the end of October to early November festivities such as Hallowe’en and Mexico’s Day of the Dead.  The all-important Four Ajaw comes in on Oct. 27th at which time we reach the completion of the fourth cycle since Dec. 21, 2012. This is always a good time to review one’s personal journey in order to set the course and intent for the next 260 days. What will be your next “evolutionary leap” and how will you facilitate it?

During this important time frame these are the energies that will come into play:

1 Kab’an (Oct. 24th) – the “initiation of evolutionary movement”, a key 52-day “shift-point” in the trecena that begins the fifth Tzolk’in cycle of the new era, this time in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of United Nations Day, when over 200 monuments, buildings, bridges, and other landmarks around the world will be lit with blue in a global campaign to promote peace, world development projects, and human rights.

2 Etz’nab’ (Oct. 25th) – a dynamic “knife-edged” type of energy that can dazzle and/or divide and separate; at this time at a point when Venus and Jupiter are in close conjunction. Maya birth energy of Jose G. Posada, a Mexican cartoonist best known for his calaveras images, particularly those associated with Mexico’s Day of the Dead

3 Kawak (Oct. 26th) – “activating storm” that can manifest as a “storm” of compassion or emotion, as happened under this influence ten years ago when some 1400 vehicles were burned in street riots in Paris. At this present time Venus reaches at its Maximum Elongation W.

4 Ajaw (Oct. 27th) – a “defining” energy associated with the full light of the sun, symbolic of renewal and enlightenment, the same “defining” Burner Day energy that coincided with Long Count 13.0.0.0.0, the end of the 13th B’aktun on Dec. 21st, 2012, the day in which a whole new Great Cycle of Time was “seated”. It was also a 4 Ajaw day that brought forth the signing of the unconditional documents of surrender by German forces in 1945. At this time this energy arrives at the time of the full light of the Full Moon.

5 Imix (Oct. 28th) – the “blessing of birth”, representative of both “the realm of all potential” and chaos; symbolic of the primordial realm, which contains “all possibilities”; a return to the energy that was in place on VE day in 1945, when the world jubilantly celebrated the end of World War II in Europe and the beginning of peace. At this time the planets Venus, Jupiter, and Mars form a tight triangle in the eastern early morning sky.

6 Ik’ (Oct. 29th) – an “everywhere” type of energy associated with wind, breath, and spirit, this time in conjunction with Mercury stationing direct. World War II officially ended under this “6 Wind” influence in 1945, after the unconditional surrender on 4 Ajaw. In 2004 this was the energy in place when Venus made its transition across the face of the sun – an event watched by millions.

7 Ak’b’al (Oct. 30th) – a “self-generating” type of energy, often referred to as a “temple” or “house”, but also darkness

8 K’an (Oct. 31st) – a “resurrection” type of energy associated with germination, this time in conjunction with Hallowe’en.  The 75th Gregorian anniversary of the conclusion of the most intense period of daylight air raids during the Battle of Britain in 1940

9 Chikchan (Nov. 1st) – representative of “outwardly-projecting” lifeforce, a powerful force that can spawn major weather events such as typhoons, and even push forth “evolutionary” events that can significantly impact the world, as happened when the First Women’s Rights Convention convened in New York in 1848. Also in place at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863, at the beginning of World War II when Germany invaded Poland in 1939, and again on the day in 1944 when Paris was liberated by the Allies. As this time this energy coincides with the end of Daylight Savings Time, All Saints’ Day, the first day of the Day of the Dead festivities in Mexico, a festival of light in Bangkok called “Brilliant Bangkok”, and the General Election in Turkey.

10 Kimi (Nov. 2nd) – a double “absolute foundations” type of energy that is represented by the death god in both the number and daysign positions; traditionally seen as a “lucky” type of energy due to its association with spiritual foundations. At this time this energy correlates with All Souls’ Day, the principal part of Mexico’s Day of the Dead festivities and the opening of the 2015 APEC Climate Change Symposium in Manila

11 Manik’ (Nov. 3rd) – “inspirational deer”, a change-oriented day aligned with the idea of reciprocity and new possibilities, although there can be a sacrificial aspect to it. This is an energy that can be somewhat “fiery” since Manik’ is a “carrier” of the sun on Earth, with the number 11 also being highly Earth-aligned. Situated in a position of intensity near the end of this “earth-movement” trecena, this energy is representative of solar power in tandem with strong Earth-aligned forces.

12 Lamat (Nov. 4th) – a double Venus type of force; in combination with the “grouping together” influence of the number 12, this is a strong “heralding or signalling” type of energy. The day when Justin Trudeau is scheduled to be sworn in and the day he will announce his cabinet. This is also the Maya birth energy of the renowned couturier Oscar de la Renta, whose passing occurred on a 9 Lamat day just over a year ago.

13 Muluk (Nov. 5th) – “transformational water” – an energetic, often dramatic, type of energy that can trigger strong feelings and stir environmental forces which have, on occasion in the past, developed into floods, tornadoes, and even hurricanes. Birth energy of the charismatic Doc Paskowitz, the legendary surfer who surfed well into his nineties. This time this energy coincides with Guy Fawkes Day in the U.K.
