End of the year, as the final full trecena for 2015 comes into play – the Muluk trecena, associated with the “generative vitality” of Water. Given the enormous amount of rainfall recently in the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere, more water may not sound like welcome news. However, this trecena is not necessarily about rain, but rather about water’s creative, “electricity-oriented” power – the force that can spark life and trigger changes in direction.

This force can be both stimulating and cleansing, and often holds the potential to shape or change the world. Given the global accord on climate change that was reached just two days ago by 196 nations just before the start of this trecena, this is the trecena that will see attention being given to strategies that will lead to action towards the implementation of that agreement.

Indeed, significant change is often initiated during this trecena, as in the past this watery, shape-shifting force has sparked a number of monumental events that have shaped or changed the world. These have included the Black Tuesday crash of the New York stock exchange in 1929, King Edward VIII’s abdication of the English throne in 1936, the beginning of the Battle of Britain in 1940, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, India’s declaration of independence in 1947, the invasion of South Korea by North Korea in 1950, and the Detroit race riots in 1967.

Four Eb’ has often been particularly interesting, as this solar force in combination with Eb’s “animating vitality” can be quite an uplifting, refreshing type of energy that often brings a sense of new possibilities. This was certainly felt in June of 1965 when the first spacewalk occurred under this influence, and again when the “Earthrise” photo was taken from Apollo 8 on 4 Eb’ in 1968.

This also was the energy in place in 2008 when Barack Obama became the first African-American to win the U.S. presidential election. This year 4 Eb’ was in place at the start of the Maya New Year, so this has been the “carrier” for this year – the year of the historic Climate Change accord. As the Maya New Year came in on that particular day in early April President Obama announced that agreement had been reached on the framework for an historic nuclear reduction agreement with Iran, which was seen as a significant political breakthrough, the most important foreign relations negotiation of the Obama presidency up to that time.

We can’t forget, however, that there is a “burning water” aspect to this force (through the influence of the number four’s solar energy) that has been seen in solar flares and other dramatic events that have occurred under this influence. In 2013 bolts of lightning struck the Vatican just hours after Pope Benedict XVI shocked the world by announcing his resignation on 4 Eb’, and last year Cat. 3 Typhoon (Glenda) Rammasun (meaning “Thunder of God”) cut a path across the main island of Luzon in the Philippines on that day, destroying roads and bridges, and downing power lines that affected over half the main island, forcing over half a million people to take refuge.

And speaking of “Force” . . . . it just so happens that as 4 Eb’ comes into being this December “the force” will awaken, with the highly anticipated release of “Star Wars: Episode VII”. So for the hundreds of thousands who will line up to see it at that time it will be another memorable day.

So as we ride the wave of this watery time frame, it might be helpful to keep in mind that these energies are being pushed by a highly creative, “electricity-oriented” force that can spark life and have profound influence. It is a force that can be both stimulating and cleansing, but can also hold the potential to shape or change the world.

And what might be the best way to ride this wave? Again this might be a good time to “go with the flow” and allow for purification and refreshment, whenever possible. This trecena will provide opportunities to enjoy the solistice, get into the holiday spirit, and think about ways in which you might co-create with this energy as it brings forth inevitable change, particularly as we are so close to year’s end.

During this watery, shapeshifting, purifying – and sometimes electrifying – timeframe these are the energies that will come into play:

1 Muluk (Dec. 15th) – “the initiation of water”, a kind of “double water” day associated with the Moon Goddess (symbolic of the Number One) in conjunction with the refreshing, shape-shifting energy of water; an important 52-day Shift-point within the 260-day cycle, this time bringing in the final full trecena of 2015.  This day marks the 10th anniversary of the historic Iraqi General Election of 2005, when millions of Iraqis voted for members of their parliament in one of the “freest ever” elections in the Arab world.

On this current One Muluk day a Soyuz rocket will carry three new crew members to the ISS to replace the three who returned safely to Earth last week. One of these new members will be Timothy Peake, the first Briton to travel to the ISS.  Four cycles ago (on Feb. 8, 2013) this energy marked the premiere of the I.S.S. song (“Is Somebody Singing”) written by Chris Hadfield and Ed Roberton and sung by Hadfield from the ISS in conjunction with Robertson and Toronto’s Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts glee choir back on Earth.  From the chorus of that song are the words:

So sing your song I’m listening, out where stars are glistening,                                                 I can hear your voices bouncing off the moon . . .

2 Ok (Dec. 16th) – a dynamic yin/yang type of force relating to love, warmth, guidance

3 Chuwen (Dec. 17th) – the “activation” of creativity; an important “time-weaving” type of energy that can often bring forth powerful shifts, this time in conjunction with the 79th Gregorian birthday of Pope Francis

4 Eb’ (Dec. 18th) – the “defining of animating vitality”; an uplifting, refreshing type of energy that often brings a sense of new possibilities – this time coordinating with the awakening of “The Force” . . . . the highly anticipated general release of “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens

5 Ben (Dec. 19th) – the “blessing of personal authority”

6 Ix (Dec. 20th) – the energy of the six directions in conjunction with the jaguar (and Jaguar Warrior) and the fate of the earth, this time in conjunction with the start of the Ursids meteor shower

7 Men (Dec. 21st) – a “self-generating” type of energy associated with the Eagle’s “higher vision”

Winter Solstice

8 Kib’ (Dec. 22nd) – the “resurrection” of the transmutation oriented force that can lead towards the restoration of order, this time in conjunction with Winter solstice

9 Kab’an (Dec. 23rd) – representative of “outwardly-projecting” longevity in connection with the earth and evolutionary movement

Christmas in Parksville 2015

10 Etz’nab’(Dec. 24th) – foundational “flint”; a sparkling, “knife-edged” type of energy that can either dazzle or divide and separate, this time in conjunction with Christmas Eve

11 Kawak (Dec. 25th) – inspirational “storm of compassion”, this time in conjunction with Christmas, at the time of the Full Moon, a conjunction that has not been in place since 1977

12 Ajaw (Dec. 26th) – a “gathering together” force aligned with the full sun, on the day after the Full Moon, on Boxing Day in Canada. Maya birth energy of James Hansen, known as the “father of climate change awareness”, who feels that much greater action is needed (beyond what was discussed at the Paris conference) to dramatically reduce emissions in order to avoid the worst ravages of climate change.

A New Fire anniversary of the assessed date of birth of Lord Jaguar in 612 AD, who has been the subject of much discussion relating to the “Tortuguero Prophecy”. As of this day three World Ages will have been completed since that date.

13 Imix (Dec. 27th) – “transformational birth”, another force that can be highly intense, as seen three cycles ago when millions of people were forced to move to higher ground as Super Typhoon Haiyan approached the Philippines. The last appearance of this energy (in April of this year) marked a turning point (and a thawing out) in US-Cuba relations when President Obama met with Cuba’s President Raul Castro, in the first formal talks between the leaders of these countries in half a century.
