Maya Count Of Days Horoscope

Maya Calendar Energies At Work In The World

Hands joining hands, joining hands around the world – or so it seems as millions of hearts and hands and voices band together in the call for action to address the global warming crisis. We are currently in the midst of the Global Week for Future climate action strike that began on Sept. 20th and continues on until Sept. 27th.

Manik’ hieroglyph (Maya, “Sun-in-hand”)

With all this taking place the Maya “hand holding the sun” hieroglyph representing Manik’ seems like a perfect symbol for what is going on, with so many people taking a stand and calling for change. Indeed, within the context of this trecena the emphasis is often placed on “interaction” and negotiation as critical challenges are addressed and avenues are sought for ameliorating issues.

Within this 13-day time frame emphasis is often centered around interactions between differing “forces” that can often involve a struggle between opposing ideas or even ideologies that have to work together to find ways to reach agreement over courses of action. The theme generally involves Sacrifice and Reconcilation, with some capitulation being required in order to make progress.

The idea of a “life or death” encounter between deer and hunter is part of this metaphor. Will the deer surrender its life for some greater good? Will it escape? Will the hunter take unfair advantage? Will the hunter honour the deer’s life and hunt only with a camera rather than a gun? What will be the nature of the negotiation? Will there be sacrifice and reconciliation or just one or the other? These are key questions tied in with the symbol of the Deer or Stag that was often used as a symbol for this energy in many Mesoamerican cultures.

As in the metaphor of the deer and hunter, the nature of the “encounter” that requires resolution during this period is often of a “high stakes” nature, as was the situation during the last appearance of this energy last January, at which time the US government remained partially shut down throughout the trecena while hundreds of thousands of government workers were out of work or not being paid. As it dragged on this shutdown became the longest government shutdown in history. The middle of this trecena last January marked the beginning of the cabildo protest rallies in Venezuela, as people vigorously expressed their opposition to Maduro assuming the presidency of that country. Those protests have continued throughout the past 260 day cycle and are still continuing.

Four cycles ago, in late November of 2016, this was the trecena in place when people were frantically attempting to sort out how to move forward after the “shocking” U.S. election, with large numbers of high level firings and resignations taking place during that time.

Three cycles ago (in the summer of 2017) this trecena saw major “head butting” between Trump and Kim Jong-un, as a stringent set of sanctions were imposed against North Korea over its missile program, which kicked off a blustery “nuclear brinksmanship” exchange of threats between the two of them. And if that wasn’t enough, unfathomable, racist/anti-racist clashes broke out in Charlottesville, VA that precipitated a state of emergency before order could be regained in that area.

At that same time a grand jury in Washington D.C. was just beginning to review the evidence being brought forward by Robert Mueller’s investigative team relating to Russia’s meddling in the U.S. election and the Trump-Russia connections, which have since resulted in dozens of criminal indictments and prosecutions.

Among other critical standoffs that have taken place during this period can be found the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. At that time the final day of this trecena brought the highest level of warning regarding the nuclear threat from the Soviets, as Soviet submarines in the mid-Atlantic were making their way to Cuba. It was a “game-changing” moment for President John F. Kennedy as this crisis was averted. Other crisis dissolutions that have taken place during this time frame include the dismantling of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Two cycles ago there was hope on the horizon in Korea at the mid-point of this trecena as the leaders of North and South Korea signed the Panmunjom Declaration, where they committed to working towards the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. And during this trecena’s last appearance some light appeared in Washington as Democrats introduced the “H.R.8” bill into Congress, relating to the introduction of universal background checks for gun purchases. Although it was eventually passed by the House, it then became stalled when it was not brought forward in the Senate.

During this same period last January things were extremely rocky in the UK over Brexit as Theresa May’s government suffered a “catastrophic” defeat, followed shortly thereafter with Theresa managing to survive a “no confidence” vote. In the US the hearings began regarding Barr’s nomination for the Attorney-General position.

So high stakes seem, often, to be the name of the game during this period as confrontations pertaining to opposing positions or differing ideologies can play out and sometimes result in joint agreements – but sometimes mark key points in continuing battles.

Three Muluk, on the third day, is one of those points that seem to be particularly consequential, this being the energy that was in place at the time of the death of Princess Diana in 1997, and again at the time of the first inauguration of Hugo Chávez (Venezulela) in 1999, and also at the first inauguration of President Obama in 2009. Two years later this “Activation of Water” force coincided with the horrendous earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

“Royal happenings” often seem to coincide with this trecena as well, with both tragedies and blessings taking place within it, as in the death, funeral, and burial of Princess Diana in 1997, and the birth of her grandson Prince Louis last year (also on Three Muluk). The little prince’s mother Kate was born under the influence of 10 Kib’, the tenth day of this time frame. Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother, was born on a 4 Ok day, the day after Three Muluk. Right “on schedule” it seems, Princess Diana is once again in the news as her son Prince Harry, along with Meghan Markle and their infant son Archie, will be following in Diana’s footsteps on their visit to Africa, that begins on the very first day of this time frame.

Looking ahead to other events coming up at this time it seems that there will be plenty of opportunities available for positions to be made clear, which will (hopefully) facilitate negotiations and resolutions on many levels. Although some forms of “sacrifices” may be necessary in order to achieve “reconcilations”, there is a great deal on the table at this time as the Global Week for Future climate action strike continues and as the General Debate of the 74th Session of the United Nations unfolds. During this period China will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of The People’s Republic of China, and in many other regions Rosh Hashanah (meaning “head of the year”) will be celebrated as the beginning of the Jewish New Year.

There are several other auspicious days coming up, including the UN’s International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons; the Hindu Shardiya Navratri festival associated with the dazzling Goddess Durga; World Animal Day and the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi; Santo Mundo, a very special Maya day for honouring Mother Earth; and, of course, the opening of the UN’s 2019 Climate Action Summit on the very first day of this period.

As always, it is never possible to predict the exact nature of the “Sacrifice and Reconcilation” that may unfold during these 13 days. Certainly it is an opportune time for negotiation and for working towards the goal of regaining some sense of equilibrium. Although some give-and-take adjustments may be required it is possible that some unexpectedly positive outcomes could result from respectful cooperation. As this plays out, these are the energies that will come into play:

1 Manik’ (Sept. 23rd) – the “initiation of reciprocity”, symbolized by the Moon Goddess working with the Deer/Stag, the “carrier” of the sun on Earth, this time coinciding with the Fall Equinox at the time of the opening of the UN’s 2019 Climate Action Summit.  In attendance at this summit will be German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at which time Greta Thunberg will address the gathering, which is taking place in the midst of the Global Week for Future climate action strike.

It has been six long Tzolk’in cycles since Trump announced his candidacy for the 2016 election under this influence, which brought out the shadow side – along the lines of “the initiation of confrontation”. That was when Michael Cohen began working on the campaign, which included his attempt to cover up this candidates’s affairs with two women as he acted “in coordination with and at the direction of” the candidate (as stated in the court filings last December).

This is the day when Prince Harry and his family begin their African adventure with a tour of Cape Town.

Two Rabbits by Kobi (19th century), from the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Public Domain via Wikimedia Commons. The Aztec deity known as Ometochtli (Two Rabbit) was associated with the intoxicating pulque.

2 Lamat (Sept. 24th) – a “dynamic heralding” (or leadership) type of energy, in place on this opening day of the General Debate of the 74th Session of the United Nations, the day of the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit, and the day when the leaders of Turkey, the US, Brazil, and France will address the General Assembly, with high level delegates from more than 190 countries in attendance. In Moscow this is the final day of the Ninth International Circle of Light festival, one of the largest light festivals in the world.

In Mesoamerican mythology this is the birth energy of an Aztec deity known as Ometochtli (Two Rabbit) who was associated with pulque, the fermented sap of the maguey plant. Through these connections this day was sometimes seen as being aligned with intoxication. It is also the Maya birth energy of Elvis Aaron Presley.

3 Muluk (Sept. 25th) – the “activation of water”, often a powerful “shape-shifting” type of force, on the day when three new Expedition 61 crewmembers will launch to the ISS aboard the Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft, on this Maya birth energy of Katherine Johnson, NASA’s celebrated African-American mathematician who was so instrumental to the success of manned spaceflights, whose 101st Gregorian birthday was on Aug. 26th.

This is the UN’s WE day,  and the day when Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will present a plan for Gulf security to the UN General Assembly. Other consequential meetings being held at this time include the Bloomberg Global Business Forum, and the Sustainable Investment Forum North America involving over 300 participants, as the Global Week for Future climate action continues.

This is the Maya energy that was in place at the start of the Cuban missile crisis (in late October, 1962), and also in place at the time of the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997. Maya birth energy of both Mick Jagger and Prince Louis, Diana’s grandson, who was born precisely 29 Tzolk’in cycles after the death of Diana. On this day Prince Harry and Meghan will meet with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his wife in Cape Town before visiting (on the 27th) the same de-mining field in Angola that Diana had visited. Many other momentous events have also occurred under this influence, some of which are noted above.

4 Ok (Sept. 26th) – a “defining” Burner Day representative of fire (or heart-fire), an energy that can often stir the emotions as this is a “double-fire” type of force, coinciding at this time with the UN’s International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, and Remember Me Thursday, a day that is the focal point for a global campaign to increase awareness of pet adoption organizations around the world, a campaign to help orphaned pets to find forever homes.

5 Chuwen (Sept. 27th) – a “precision” oriented energy in combination with play or even mischief; a “timeweaver” type of energy that can bring about change through innovation, coinciding with the final day of the Global Week for Future climate action strike that began on Sept. 20th – Greta Thunberg has been invited to participate in the Montreal march on that day. India’s Prime Minister Modi will be addressing the UN General Assembly on this day. This is the day when Prince Harry will visit the de-mining field in Angola that Princess Diana had visited in 1997 prior to her tragic death later that year. Like Diana, he will also deliver a speech on the importance of de-mining.

6 Eb’ (Sept. 28th) – generally a “stabilizing” type of energy aligned with “restorative vitality”, coinciding at this time with the New Moon and the beginning of a Maya month known as Yax (meaning “new” or “fresh”), coinciding at this time with the UN’s International Day for Universal Access to Information, International Rabbit Day, and the day when the first National Trans Visibility March on Washington DC will take place. This is also Confucius’s birthday (celebrated on Sept. 28th in the Gregorian calendar), sometimes called “Teacher’s Day” as Confucius is known as China’s “First Teacher” (see below re World Teacher’s Day on Oct. 5th). The Afghan presidential elections are scheduled for this day.

7 B’en (Sept. 29th) – a “self generating personal authority” type of energy, coinciding at this time with many auspicious events, including World Heart Day and Michelmas, the Feast of St. Michael + all the angels.

In India and many other places where Hindu festivals are celebrated this energy is currently coinciding with Shardiya Navratri, an auspicious Hindu Masik Durgashtami day associated with the dazzling 10-armed Goddess Durga (a symbol of power) arriving on an elephant at the beginning of a nine day festival that involves prayers and traditional songs and dances dedicated to the goddess.

This evening marks the start of Rosh Hashanah (meaning “head of the year”), thought to be the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, and the beginning of the Jewish New Year. Also known as the Feast of Trumpets, this is a Jewish High Holy period that runs from the evening of Sept. 29th to the evening Oct. 1st.

This 7 B’en energy was in place two cycles ago at the time of the historic meeting in the Korean demilitarised zone between the leaders of North and South Korea, at which time the Panmunjom Declaration was proclaimed, where they committed to working towards the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. This was also the energy in place in April of 1865 when General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Confederate army to General Grant, precipitating the conclusion of the U.S. civil war.

8 Ix (Sept. 30th) “Resurrecting Jaguar” – this is Santo Mundo, a special Maya day devoted to the Celebration of the Earth and its sacred mysteries, coinciding at this time with the final day of the General Debate of the 74th Session of the United Nations, a full Rosh Hashanah day, and Orange Shirt Day/National Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada.

9 Men (Oct. 1st) – the “outward projection” of vision (as in the high-flying vision of the Eagle – which sometimes manifests as a “warrior” type of energy), on NASA’s 61st birthday. (NASA became operational on an 11 Men – “inspirational Eagle” day in 1958). At this time this energy coincides with China’s National Day holiday at the beginning of a “golden week”, a national seven day holiday that can often foment massive traffic jams due to the humungous movement of people. With this being the 70th anniversary of the founding of The People’s Republic of China the celebrations could be particularly eventful, very likely including a military review and parade as it did on the 50th and 60th anniversaries.

This is the deadline day for approval of a new US budget – so the question is: Will there be yet another shutdown during this period or will they be able to negotiate some agreement? The evening marks the end of Rosh Hashanah. This 9 Men energy was in place in 1997 at the funeral of Princess Diana, which was watched by millions (31 cycles ago).

World premier of Haida Modern, a film about the master carver Robert Davidson, Eagle of the Dawn, who has been (and continues to be) so very instrumental in inspiring and spearheading the revitalization of Haida art and culture.

10 Kib’ (Oct. 2nd) – a “foundational restoration” type of energy which can fluctuate between the setting up of important foundations for a “restoration of order” (as in the setting up of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty in 1968) to the kind of massive “clean up” that was required in China in 2008 after the Szechuan earthquake. At this time this energy coincides with the change of command ceremony at the ISS when Russian Cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin passes the command of the space station over to European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano.

One cycle since British MP’s voted on Brexit – a very critical moment for the U.K.; with another Brexit deadline very close at hand this is yet another very pivotal time for the UK. This is also Kate Middleton’s Maya Calendar birth energy.

11 Kab’an (Oct. 3rd) –the energy of “change” combined with the force of evolutionary movement, as three ISS crew members return to Earth with their landing in Kazakhstan at the time of a conjunction between the Moon and Jupiter. Seemingly in keeping with what is going on (or not) with the UK’s parliament, this is the day when Banksy’s “Devolved Parliament” (2009) painting goes on sale, which is expected to sell for millions.  This is also National Poetry day in the UK.

12 Etz’nab’ (Oct. 4th) – a robust “knife-edge” type of force that can bring forth powerful separation (or “sacrifice-related”) events, as in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 and the naval quarantine of Cuba in 1962. On the last appearance of this energy House Republicans joined House Democrats in the US to overwhelmingly oppose the lifting of the sanctions against Russia, even though there were not enough votes for this opposition in the Senate.

This day marks the 350th anniversary of the death of Rembrandt, an anniversary which is being celebrated this year by many special exhibitions dedicated to his work.

This is a Calendar Round (or New Fire) anniversary of the energy that was in place in 1967 at the time of the death of Puyi, the last Emperor of China and final ruler of the Qing Dynasty, marking the end of a millennia of dynastic rule in that country.

Currently this is World Animal Day and the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment, a time for many Blessing of the Animals events. World Animal Day was initiated in 1931 at a convention of ecologists to highlight the plight of endangered species, and since then has been observed annually as a tribute day for all animals. It is sponsored by the UK based Naturewatch Foundation.

13 Kawak (Oct. 5th) – “transformational storm”, coinciding at this time with Astronomy Day and a conjunction between the Moon and Saturn, on World Teachers’ Day (celebrated globally by more than 100 nations), with this year’s theme being “Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession”.

One cycle since the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington D.C., to bring awareness (through speeches, prayers, songs, and dances) to long term injustices again indigenous peoples in the US. This is a Maya calendar anniversary of the energy in place when Andrew Johnson took office as the US president in 1865, at a time when great many atrocities against indigenous peoples were taking place, not only in the U.S., but worldwide. Johnson was impeached 3 years later – the first U.S. president to be impeached.
